The daftest, most self-centred and most myopic rescue proposal yet..
Guan 2.0 replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
+1 "Bernard, subsidy is for art...for culture. It is not to be given to what the people want, it is for what the people don't want but ought to have" In all seriousness though, I'm leaving Livepool for the Easter Break in a couple of hours, and I will miss the amount of Art projects and Galleries we have up here... The BlueCoat, FACT, The Tate, Walker Art gallery etc... It seems horrifying that Southampton would gladly do away with long term acquisition by firesales and short-termisim. Now where have I seen that before? -
Birmingham 1 Saints 2

Reminds me of what Alan Ball use to say about the world cup winning squad. He was under no illusions that the England players did not have the best players, but they did have the best team, through players that complimented each other. It's an extreme example, but Crespo and Shevchenko are examples of great players doing naff all when not fitting in with a team.

Is Phillips still Injured? I genuinely think if he's not, we can get a win at their place.

Nice one... Now lets have two more just like it!

You've already done this We've just had this Excellent stuff, keep going That's enough Politics - Ed

Whatever the case may be, I think the important thing is that we're now trying to decide to heap the most praise on for our home wins, instead of *****ing at each other about boardroom seesaws. IMHO.

Results of yesterdays board meeting...

Number 1 should be roll call. You forget that any meeting cannot start without a roll call. -
Mary Corbett felt "threatened" and "physically intimidated" by Lowe

Coincidentally after Saints have recorded a convincing win at home, meaning the usual moans can't be repeated.. Shome mishtake, shurely? -

I'll (for now) be taking this with a pinch of salt. Too many factors that don't add up. First off is that it's a third hand source, secondly it's an anonymous source, thirdly the low post count, mostly based on a hatred of Lowe and directors in general, and finally, the fact I doubt a reporter would be authorised to make or pass on news on sponsorship policy.

Controversial post alert - ignore if you like Lowe
Guan 2.0 replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Or maybe you should remember that only the mods get to decide who takes part in these forums. Otherwise, what's the point of having these forums, if not for debate. If posters suddenly decide that people who don't agree with them should have no say, it paints an artificial picture. It happens already on here, with certain groups of posters heavily posting on certain threads, and making sure to label anyone who disagrees with them. After all, people could then go on to claim a consensus view on Lowe, or another subject, when they've had no real discussion, just 3 pages of nodding donkeys agreeing with each other. -
What? That wasn't the argument being made by the poster who was talking about it, and you well know it. As it is my final allotted post of the day I will try and explain this once more OUR FATE WAS OUT OF OUR HANDS ON THE FINAL DAY, AND IF LEICESTER HAD WON WE WOULD HAVE BEEN RELEGATED. There, very simple. And seeing as you want Pearsons reputation to be judged on his time here, and not on the season overall, or the factors before it, it is worth reminding everyone that whilst we were not in the relegation zone, by the end of his tenure, we were in it on the final day, and not in a position to keep ourselves up on the last day on our resluts alone. Hmm.

Agreed, he always reminded me of George Bush in that sense. Agreed again, but I don't think he has the nous to pick such people, and would be surrounded by Self serving 'Cheney' Types.

Are you being deliberately thick? I ****ing hope so. Try and read the words slowly, or go over the last oh, I don't know, 50 years of football coverage. Then concentrate very hard, and you might just get it into your head that 'Even if they win, their league status is OUT OF THEIR HANDS, as they're relying on results elsewhere' is an end-of season expression used in football, applied to us at the end of last season. Now get a grip, stop acting like a Mardy **** and using a lost and ****ty argument to try and support the theory that Crouch heralded some sort of Gold Age in his time here.

Points deduction and a massive fine. How to make a bad situation even worse. Some true geniuses on here recently. I wish when people said they had a plan 'to unite the fanbase and free the club', they meant a tour of the area/carefully worded (not hate and bile filled rants against Lowe) documents, explaining the realistic strength of the board for consortiums or wealthy potential benefactors, as there are doubtless fans who could make contact with such people. But No, lets invade the pitch so the match is abandoned, and shout outside an office and act lary, and, as seen above, actively HOPE for relegation/administration. yeah, that should move some mountains...
-
I'm on a planet where I recognise we have a very young team of try hards, not enough money to pay our experienced players, and no magic wand to change the situation/get in a new manager on even medium wages. Reality, in other words. But yeah, they should try and **** the manager. That'll solve everything. Or make them feel better until they can sink a few pints.
-
By doing what, lynching JP? Yeah, that should sort everything out. Bunch of PHD wizards, F'sure. Oh no, I meant Knee Jerk reactionaries. Last weeek we palyed badly and won away. This week we played well and lost at home. The difference? Not belief or skill, but luck.

Feelings such as "My heart was never in it from day 1" (on the Southampton job), you mean?
-
I'd rather he stays. Feeling sorry for the guy doesn't come into it. We need to to move onwards and upwards, so he can stay, keep goal well and sleep easy on a pile of money most people can only dream of as far as I'm concerned.

By mentioning Leeds you have shown that it is you are narrow minded. After Leeds went bust and were bought back in slightly dodgy circumstances, the football league had a massive overhaul of the procedures and rules for clubs going into, and coming out of, administration. Bournemouth and Luton are just the lesser examples of this. If you had paid any attention to this, you wouldn't make comments like the one above, and anyone who thinks along those lines is dangerously Naive. And my mind can easily cope with the fact that people dislike Lowe's policies rather than the man himself, but praying for administration to rid themselves of him (which is what I mentioned), shows a worrying lack of foresight, and has the age old problem of no viable alternative, which I notice you fail to comment on. It would seem that it is not my mental faculties that need examining my friend. Hope that helps and happy new year. -

Anybody who hopes for administration for the club (and all the penalties and long term hardship that will involve), just so 1 or 2 figures they happen to dislike are no longer involved are beyond mentally incompetent IMHO. There would be no players, no team, and clubs before us have been locked out from their own grounds. Only a solution if you have decided to give up supporting Southampton Football Club. -
I know Man Utd have not been at their best recently, but to describe them as amateurish may be a step too far...
-
Not Particularly keen to see Lowe go (unless a better alternative can be found, proposed, and put in place quickly, and a serious candidate, not pipe dream guys or someone who "Bleeds red and white", but is crass and has no money), BUT, if you are going to protest, how about stating your support for the club/team at the same time. The slogan "Up the Saints -Down with Lowe", would make your point, and show that you have gone as a fan, rather than a bitter pitchforker.
