Pardew becomes catatonic after a waking dream in which he imagines the fabled 'Plan C'. The club looks to the internet to name his stand in, and Chris Marsden is brought in to steady the ship, the fans base this on him having the nickname of 'football genius' However, despite being on course to achive promotion as champions, there is widespread unrest due to the quality of matchday service. As a result, all football topics are banned, and the saintsweb forum becomes an endless loop of 'How was the beer', 'queues in the northam' and 'where are these posters now' topics. As a result of the press boycott and lack of forum posts, the official site becomes the only outlet for news, and crashes under the demand. Therfore no-one knows which position we are in the league, only that Puncheon was not very good against whatever opposition we were playing.

We will walk this unnamed league 1 club FFS, WIFM.
-
We need more goals - Maybe we could go in for Craig Bellamy? Oh, that's already been done...
-
We will walk this poor start to the campaign. On a serious note Barnard, the 'Brett Omerod but with goals' Can't score for toffee for quite some time now. Looks lively, and is one of my favourite players. But maybe needs more encouragement/man management?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly didn't know Markus Personally. However, I do feel a sense of Gratitude towards the man, and feel it is only appropiate to have a period of time to honour the man. I'm slightly old school in the sense that I think Black armbands/Minutes Silence (not a minutes applause, 90 minutes of applause after the silence. Says something if people can't keep quiet for a minute), but I can compherend that people want to show their gratitude and resepect in other ways, such as laying shirts, crying by the statue etc, even if it is a million miles away from what I would do. Although I would have thought going and winning on saturday would have been a personal tribute to remember, we have know way of knowing how this effects the upper echelons of the clubs team and executive management. In that spirit, I find it a bit unnecessary for some people to mention the whole Lady Di/Scouse grief. At least in this case, the man in question had a tangible connection to those paying reverence to him, in that he saved the club we all support. Now is not the time to question his motives or denigrate our fellow fans for the way they choose to show respect. And in fact, the response of some on here comes across as very 'cyber warrior', even if that is genuinely not the intent. There really is no need to write the equivelent of 'I'm not grieving because I didn't know him, and anyone who does is a pu55y'. After all, relatives and friends of Mr Liebherr may have come on to the forum to add/view the condolences of saints fans. It's about restraint and respect, and I'm sure whatever our viewpoint on postponements/levels of grief/costs incurred, we should be able to show that.

Obviously, Information is limited, and emotions are high. Perhaps just lock this topic for a week? After all, It's doubtful that any on here will have anymore information than Cortese et al. So instead of idle speculation, we can instead show a mark of Respect. IMO, of course.

Genuinely sad news. He came from to nowhere and rescued the club from the brink of extinction when the situation was at it's darkest, and seemingly asked for nothing in return. He gave the fans, both in and out of the city, a club they could be proud of, and instilled a new sense of not just hope, which can be dashed by any person whose dreams are outmatched by their means, but a true feeling of belief. He was as much a fan as any here, as Anyone at Wembley on the day of our Cup Triumph will testify, and I can only trust that The team, The management, and the fans can pull together to make his, and our, vision for the club a reality. Rest In Peace, Markus Liebherr.

Ahh, but ironically. any investagative Journo worth his salt (especially the likes of Nick Davies, who wrote flat earth news) would tell you that everyone has an agenda (which is why it's so laughable when during discussions, people often shout "HE HAS AN AGENDA" like they've cracked the Da Vinci code). Which is why when presenting their story after leaving the company of someone they are now 'dishing the dirt' on it's vital to take into account the possibility that defects of their personality/criticism of their performance has made them unable to realise/recognise the otherwise positive image/performance of those they are criticising. This is far from the 'Smoking Gun' evidence required. Now I'm not saying he is untrustworthy, just pointing out that it is far from 'proof'. But I think others have already covered this: For the record, I think this is a knee jerk reaction from print media, who a faced with the stark realisation that they must make cuts everyday due to the fact that they a) Operate a hopelessly outdated business model, and b) are in an industry that is dying on it's arse, and has already lost several publications. They resent internal change but have to live with it, and despise any measures seemingly taken against them from the outside. This is why they particularly chafe against this action, despite they themselves removing themselves (in the case of Newscorp) from newsaggregators (most notably newsnow) and attempting to make both the Sun and Times on-line subscription based, and limit the amount of people who can access and disseminate their 'product' whilst maximising revenue, whilst reporting on SFC with righteous condemnation for doing much the same thing! Cortsese has no doubt realised, through his earlier conflict with The Daily Echo, that this level of personalised criticism is part and parcel of tangling with the media in this country. And as a man who was hand picked for his experience for looking after, representing and taking decisions for the billionaires he represented, I doubt Markus will be calling him up to say: "sorry son, But the Sun have called you a Berk, and the Plymouth local has drawn a cartoon that's doing the round's. Pack your bag, old china, it's the dole queue for you!". Likewise, the papers need to realise this isn't Lobby Journalism, and there is no-one that needs re-electing. Petty Politicking won't work here.

You can buy tickets on the night, right?
-
I think if we are winning our matches/storming to the top of our division/going on cup runs (not saying this will happen, but putting more emphasis on the on-pitch performances) Then not only are we more likely to be attractive to sponsors as a successful team, but also more likely to be featured as broadcasted matches (another incentive to sponsor). IF we do achive this, I'm sure there will be more than one breakaway media group that 'realise the benefits of a revolutionary and mutually beneficial agreement for all parties involved, especially the Fans of Southampton Football club, and The readers of (Insert name here)'. Or Whatever PR ******** is spun on it. Annnnnd that's my last allotted post.
-
This reinforces it even more. "Southampton need all the publicity they can get while they fight their way back up the divisions". Err, actually no. With less publicity, the pressure's off and we can go about our business quietly and efficiently. But don't let that get in the way of a 5hit story, eh?
-
The club doesn't need the echo/sun or anybody really to sell tickets to matches. The Echo and to a a lesser degree the nationals need reports from the games to sell papers. This is the bottom line, and Cortese seems a man who is all about the bottom line. It's obvious that he wants the fans to use the official site instead (which one can argue is updated 24/7, see the half eleven signing for example) , rather than speculation and out of date 'news' in a paper.

As in refusing to show his hand, or not bringing it up?
-
Any reaction from Pardew so far?

Welcome to the future, and how rosy it looks for Portsmouth! 'Cagey' doesn't do it justice: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8890333.stm

You don't have to pay all the tax you should have to, to the tune of millions. But don't worry, you still have the CVA you can't service to fulfil, and your next dodgy owner in the wings. Plus, it used to be us just hat disliked you, with the rest of the counrty taking you into their hearts as Plucky little pompey. But now, everyone hates you, as the public had money stolen from the public purse to fund your phony FA cup triumph. But don't worry. We still hate you the most. : )

Thanks, much Appreciated. I'm surprised to see that everything's more or less the same, though haven't been to Yuzo in it's current incarnation, or vistied the Trago Lounge, so I will try those out. Do you know if the place with the rooftop ****tail bar near Bedford place is still going? I can't remember the name, it changed around 4 years ago I think.
-
I did both. As reported above, Girls like it if you can. Most girls who can ride are goers and flexible. Which means if you're heading down to the stables, it's feasible to get two completely different experiences of feeding the horse.

I'd like to expand upon the original Question. I've been at University in Liverpool for the last 3 years, and thanks to the cracking nightlife up there, I've lost my feel for the nightlife down here. Can anybody reccoemnd any 'good' Bars and Clubs (I know it's a loose term, but basically not Pikon and/or darts and farts places) in Winchester and Southampton? BTW, anything in the last 3 years that has sprung up will be 'new' to me.

Drugged, raped and sodomised. Classy guy. Would have been happy to see him flown back to the USA, tbh..

Ian Hislop is the editor of Private Eye, which makes it its business to root out lies, corruption and general bad practice that goes against the pledge of ALL political parties to do the best for britain. This is achieved through detailed study, whistle-blowers and True investigative Journalism. Jeremy Clarkson is a ****, who engages in dickery, and spouts dickish thoughts in his columns, for the sake of entertaining dicks, and making profit off the back of his ****-headedness. HTH.

Usually in Liverpool at uni, but off for half term, and trying to go to the game tomorrow. Trying to buy 3 tickets online, but when i go to register, it asks me for a customer number. I don't have one. That's why I'm trying to register...
