Cortese should have claimed this was the (early) official 125th year celebrations. Just for the reaction from some!
-
Plus 'one vision' to come out at the start of the match and half time:
-
4-1. Put your house on it!
-
I miss the guy. Met him a couple of times and seemed like a geuninely 'good' guy. Any chance he can get him back to do half time? I still credit our comeback 4-2 win against Newcastle in the rain at the dell to him and his HT pep talk. So much better than the current guy. On a related note, did Jim branning from eastenders once lead a brass band out on the pitch, or am I going mental.
-
1-3. Lambert, Hammond and Fonte. (Just a feeling, not based on form or fact!) Happy days.

So true. Like Minty, I am open to the possibility to the fact the club may be for sale soon. A 5% possibility. It's clear that there are those deeply opposed to Cortese (or anyone who supports him). Ex-players and managers, a few fans who used to be closer to the club. This Journo obviously doesn't like Cortese (read the article linked above). Doesn't mean the story isn't true, just means he would have less reason to hold back if it isn't. His post actually contains less info than the cluster**** nothing story that was in the daily mail a while back. Or the ******** rumour about the ex-saints mayflower night (which the ex-saints distanced themselves from), about the players and management being banned from said event (which was ********). Published in the, er daily mail. Or the ******** rumour that Cortese had sold AOC to 10 different clubs in the.. oh But just wait for the familiar voices to say that anybody who disbelieves such things are naive freaks who don't know what an utter bastard Nicola Cortese (sorry - CLOTESE LOLZORZ!111 AMIRITE) is, with his ambitions and perk stopping and such. And then deny there is any continued campaign against the Chairman, whilst claiming that anybody who doesn’t agree isn't 'mature' enough to be able to stand fair criticism of the club (just a thought, there is a big difference between devils advocate, based on established and sourced facts, and being serial contrarian against the club, picking up on every unsubstantiated bit of mudslinging against the club and running with it as proof). After all, such luminaries have in the past been in contact with the hotbed of football info, the Bournemouth physio. Whilst others have seen fit to assure us mere mortals by that they have saved the club, by being part of the organisation of saints fans that Wilde has proxied his shares to (which turned out to conditional unless he disagreed with said fans) which meant he was a cool rich trustworthy guy. That alone makes them the only people to listen to. One thing I would say Manji, is that everyone has an agenda. Just some are easier to spot than others.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? Or The article written by Lawrie rushing all of a sudden to make it clear he's open to being Cortese's BFF, or the invite to the same room as Nicola by Eddie Mitchell? IMO it doesn't matter as long as bridges are built (or at least attempted). Let's just hope steady eddie doen't make LM walk up the side steps, he doesn't want an article in the mail about that, LOlZORZ111.

Yes I remember that, they said they should rename the station 'Radio Saints'. Then AB stated he was impartial he was making a whinge list and put that, and similar texts on there. Then a few weeks later said 'we' had played really well, when referring to saints. Still, not as epic as the old mabel who phoned up merrington recently. You could hear whispering dave and co laughing as they took the call! Or just after the sian massey thing, when one of our commentators said his 'wife could have fininshed better than that' pause 'or my gran (slight panic audible)'. "Or in fact, any person at all who isn't very good at footbal (relief was tangible!)". I'd rather stick with a balanced view. Let others get **** on their heads, while being told it's raining.

What do we want? Wallowing in past glories! How do we want it? Pinnacle!

I think we may have found the reason for Hypos's drunkeness on valentines day! Here you go pal. not my cup of tea, but fill your boots. http://www.fatchicksinpartyhats.com/ bon appetit.

Or the fact that they are repsonsible for any libel you make, may have something to do with it
-
If Lawrie is serious about bilding bridges, this can only be a good thing. However, if Nicola is 'Don' Cortese, Lawrie is most definitely Feech La Manna!

Wasn't that the year we sold Kevin davies? I think we were also linked heavily with Matt Jansen at the time.

Eddie Mitchell Stirs The Pot Before Cherries Game
Guan 2.0 replied to farawaysaint's topic in The Saints
I think to a certain degree we are, as a collective. With nearly 25 consecutive years in the top flight, the advent of moving from a 'ground' to a stadium, One of the most talented players in the modern game, suffering two rapid succesions, then being saved by a Billionaire and a determined chairman. It has the right mix of historical pride, new expectations, and then sudden despair before great expecations and looking to be be above where we have been even in our 'glory' days. All this while in a league conataining teams with low crowds, crumbling stadia, and minimal budgets. This adds up to many taking the 'we will walk this league' approach, as it's still new to the majority of saints fans. That's why any negative comments on other boards (sometimes for other teams 'daring' to say that they might beat us) are linked and set upon. This thread is proof ."That Bompey idiot, he thinks we care about them, let's create a thread about the subject to show how much we don't care" . I don't think it's right, but I see how it can happen. I Also can see why other fans think we are arrogant. For my part, I think we can win this league, only 70% sure we will though. I think we'll come second, with bournemouth's lack of depth costing them close to the end. -
The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
Guan 2.0 replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Maybe because there are a greater number of saints fans on this site for one? Or how about as previously mentioned he has been quoted as the fans representative and appeared on televsion and radio as such, so should at least respond to the saints fans represented on here? Or the fact that he has spoken through others on here, but seems reluctant to have direct contact, when there have been questions raised on this 15 page thread, on an issue that is notorious for lack of details. See, no need for the childish dig, was there? -
The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
Guan 2.0 replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
In fairness, they are separate issues, and as we all know, two wrongs don't make a right, etc, etc. However, it seems maddening that Monsieur Illingsworth won't appear on this site and explain things on this (the IFO) issue, or any other issue, in more detail, yet has in the past been happy to appear on television and speak to the media on a range of topics as a fans representative? Maybe he just thinks he has a licence to Illingsworth* *With apologies to the Beastie Boys. And the Human race. -

A police spokesman has said they are looking for a Mr T Jones in connection with the blast. Mr Jones was in the area for a business trip due to Valentines day. Although it is too early to confirm anything at this time, Police have not ruled out the possibilty that it was a sex bomb. *hopestochristthatnoonewashurt*

Pathetic cheering of N'guessen being subbed. Maybe we should just beat the players with their own shoes if they don't put in 10/10 perfomance?

The Cortese Tax - OFT probe into firms 'profiting from plastic'
Guan 2.0 replied to dune's topic in The Saints
'Thread drift'? You mean taking one thing, posting it here, and then moaning about a completley different issue in the first post? That's not drift that's just lazy. No reason if Dune couldn't have forgone the mail article. But I guess it's better to link an arguement to something potentially illegal, even if it has nothing to do with the issue at hand, to try and prop up your argueent (such as it is). -
The Cortese Tax - OFT probe into firms 'profiting from plastic'
Guan 2.0 replied to dune's topic in The Saints
**** me - this is such a non thread. The original article (daily fail again), pops up with an article about ripping off people via 'supercharges' on credit card. Some of the usual suspects (who have gone very quiet since Adkins revealed he wasn't aware of any ban for the 125th event, would have loved to have seen how that thread would have looked had it not been locked), have used this as an excuse to **** and moan about the 'ticket tax' which a) is not the same thing, and they know it, and b) avoidable, in all but a few rare cases. There's playing devils advocate, there's becoming a serial contrarian. And then there's looking for fault with everything the man does. -
SAINTS CELEBRATE 125 YEARS at the Mayflower Feb 13th 2011
Guan 2.0 replied to mel1961red's topic in The Saints
So after all the back and forth over the last few days, we've had it from Adkins himself that there is no official ban? If true, it seems like mud throwing in the hope that it sticks from Le tiss and co. -
Don't worry, anybody who doens't want to give up your house to build a statue Matt Le Tiss is not a true saints fan in CB fry's eyes. Also he thinks that thinking that Matt might not be a perfect human being, and could even be wrong on some things (i.e. pinnacle), makes you in love with Cortese, who is just "some rat faced foriegner" (his words). In fact, a lot of his posting follow a hypersexual bent. And at all costs, disavow any positive vibes towards the chairman. Odd that!

When I went to the 'last do at the dell' the (tuxedo event on the pitch) where former greats were on hand to deliver the stories from yesteryear, and Alistair Mcgowan others provided entertainment, a great time was had. I got to meet Ted bates for a second time, and Even got to speak t Lowe (who in person was very much the baby eater - and a lot more comfortable in a 'natrual setting'. Anyway, my point is do you know how many of the current playing squad attended the event? None. And did it make a blind bit of difference? No. Because it was an event that centered around the rememberence of things past. Just like this one. And if you think that the invite (and media campaign beforehand against cortese) were unplanned and co-incidental then you and the orgainsers are either a) Naive beyond belief b)
