  1. Chez - I would say that better holding midfielder than Wotton could be Gillett. He might not be Pardew's cup of tea but since he went to Doncaster (a league above Saints) they have started winning games and moving up the table. No chance of that happening though...... Have to say I thought Hammond was crap today.....Morgan is an unbelievable player for the ;league we are in and I'm not surprised Arsenal were/are looking at him.
  2. Interesting stuff....having been a few times and my brother having lived there for 3 years, my observations have been: A lot of ex-pats are chavs with no sensibility to the local culture or respect for the local culture Dubai is an obscene place driven by greed and money, totally false and with no soul The locals (Emiratis) treat the Asian workers like scum: forcing taxis off the road, etc Outside of Dubai there are some wonderful places where the locals are amazingly hospitable and kind (specifically Oman) There are areas of real, rugged beauty Dubai has never been 'cheap'....everything seems to be pricey with the exception of booze at Barracuda It's a very false place...where money appears more important than anything else Emiratis have fantastic, free healthcare The cheap labour don't have an easy life but their life is no harder than back home and the money is better Deffo not a place I would like to live in a million years!
  3. My god there are some bitter, twisted morons on here. What's up - are you all jealous that you never made it as a pro footballer? Lancashire is a Saints player and yet for, some, he is the latest in a long range of scapegoats. Rather than support and encourage him, snidey remarks appear the order of the day...well I hope your bosses are as unsupportive of you for any little mistake. Pathetically unbelievable.
  4. http://aawsat.com/english/news.asp?section=1&id=18579 Oh dear, oh dear...poor old Skates! Looks like the interview was real! Just visiting my brother in Dubai who works for a large bank and deals with the Saudis a lot....no-one has ever heard of Ali al-Faraj in business circles and nothing exists officially about him in normal business circles/checks. Out of the frying pan into the fire...........
  5. Unbelievable......the guy has been given absolutely no chance by pardew and played out of position when he has played (typically 5 minutes here or there) and gets slagged off by the expert coaches on here. Are none of you questioning why a team at a higher level than Saints has taken him on (for 2 months not as an emergency loan)? For those of you saying he is not good enough for Saints, here is a reality check: we are bottom of League 1 and he will be playing for a mid table Championship side.
  6. What - read and action comments for a tiny minority of Saints supporters (no more than 1-200 regular posters....and we get 19K crowds)? I would certainly hope not - look where that got us before with Wilde!
  7. I was on a course yesterday with a journo from the news and what he told me (that they have dared not print yet) is: The takeover has not gone through yet despite protestations to the contrary Gaydemak/gayboy LOANED Al Fahim money to try and secure the takeover (the good Dr has no money) The good Dr is not around right now but has promised to be back for the Everton game (which coincidentally happens to be live on Sky) Any takeover has been leveraged against future Sky monies In his view, the blue few are absolutely screwed - yet most fans they have spoken to were quite happy to swap financial security (living within thier means) for the FA Cup win and stupid overspending that bought that.
  8. Pathetic, idiotic, moronic post. The lad is learning his trade - do you go as OTT with Lambert or Saganowski? Perhaps Pardew's baffling (or lack of) tactics might have something to do with the inability of ANY of our strikers to score.
  9. Very, very disappointing if true. Not given any chance by pardew and the fact that a Championship side wants to sign him shows he can play at a higher level than where we are at. A shame because he was our best midfielder last season.
  10. mack rill - I know education in Portsmouth is really bad and most of the population is illiterate (as well as illegitimate) but could someone translate what you wrote?
  11. Perhaps we can get the tannoy announcer to play 'Substitute' by the Who whenever we feel sus are needed and Pardew might take the hint.
  12. TDD..,...is it not obvious to you?..Pinnacle never had any substantial funds. Look at that clown Fialka: still living at home with mummy and daddy yet he was the front person for the consortium and many on here said they were impressed with him!!!!! We had no real pre-season and are paying the price. Bringing in a new team a week or two before the start of the season will do us no good. Norwich brought in 7 new players and look what is happening to them! Pinnacle were chancers and beacuse they had MLT as a figurehead everyone swooned and forgave them. You would have thought people on here would have thought twice before thanking Lynam for constantly posting on here. Seem to remember another chancer doing that and look where we got to. And MLT should have done at least some due diligence before throwing his weight behind Pinnacle. Because MLT was involved people were not prepared to ask tough questions. Long, long season ahead.......
  13. Oh come on FF.......you can't carry on blaming Lowe for everything. He's history just like the others who got us into a big mess. I notice Tony 'you're getting your club back' Lynam is conspicuous by his absensce....if you are reading this board, thanks for costing us pre-season and making sure we start on the back foot with your Walter Mitty 15 minutes of fame. Pardew has to start earning his money....slagging the players off is not going to work. And this is no longer a 'young side'...only Lallana, James, Lancashire and Paterson were from our Academy. I am, already, starting to get worried we have a terrible, terrible manager. Hopefully very, very wrong but why play Wotton, bring Rasiak on in added time, make no subs until way too late and generally play awful tactics.....no way is Lallana a RM/LM: play him in the hole for goodness sake!
  14. Why so obsessed with the Skates? In case you hadn't noticed, we could well be relegated by Xmas and Bournemouth could well go above us next season. This obsession with everything Portsmouth do/don't do is well sad.............
  15. Last season we were at our best when we had Gillett and Morgan in CM.....Wotton is gash, the Chelsea nipper is completely unproven. I think it is a crying shame that Gillett is not being played. Pardew has several of his own signings now so he will not be able to moan about our poor squad for much longer......nor are we a team made of up youngsters this year either so that card cannot be played.
  16. If that is really the case why is there nothing on any of the newswires/press? Surely a murder would have made front page: certainly for the Echo. Hopefully it's not true....and perhaps if it's not true MB you will stop posting utter, utter s***e as you have been prone to do for quite a while now - either very gullible or making things up for a kick.
  17. some of you really ought to get a life.....it's quite sad how many are obsessed with the skates.
  18. I would much rather see Morgan in the defensive midfield role than Wotton. Wotton is appalling: can't tackle, can't pass, has no pace. Some of the best football (actually the bast football) of last season was when we had Gillett and SChneiderlin in midfield. As soon as Gillett got injured we were never the same and Morgan struggled: with form and fitness. Perhaps not surprisingly as he is just starting his career and with so many youngsters this was always, with hindsight, going to be the case.
  19. Dear, oh dear...... Relying on MB for information is not a good idea based on his ITK predictions over a period of months!
  20. Dear oh dear Daren W......statements liek the one you made soimply make you look very, very foolish. I do wonder why some Saints fans think we are such a big club. We punched above our weight for a long time but we do not have a gloried history. In fact, we are just like Charlton in so many respects. A minority of idiots 'supporting', similar implosion following relegation and big debts. To think, Charlton were held up as a club we should look up to after we were relegated and the SOuthampton modle was one they were trying to follow whilst in the Prem! How the mighty, or not so mighty!, have fallen.
  21. The sooner he b******s off the better. Massively overrated and a waste of time for us once he'd got his fat contract.
  22. Can't understand why people think this is good news. Whilst not a world beater, nor even close to it, we will miss his pace and experience in league 1 - we're not in the Prem or CCC and I, personally think, BWP would have done well for us in this league. We're in great danger (and I was a big supporter of this failed strategy last year - the balance needs to be better) of being left with raw, promising young 'uns and 1 or 2 senior pros. All this talk of getting in 5 or 6 players now won't actually help us as they'll need to bed in, learn to play with the rest of the team, etc. and we have no guarantee they'll be any good. Quite frankly, we're down to the bare bones and not having a manager in seems quite peculiar: basically we won't have had a pre-season. makes the decision to remove Wotte immediately a bit of a strange one!
  23. Might get flamed for saying this but......... I wouldn't wish the last 5 months we have had on any other club (including Pompey). A lot of Pompey supporters I have met/know are normal, decent people. Like any club (including ours) they have an element of morons who do the club, and themselves, no favours. Do believe this Arab guy is a Walter Mitty (based on what people out in the Middle East are saying) and raising any sort of finance in the UAE is a nightmare right now. This isn't to say I want Pompey to do well in the premier league....to be honest, I don't care how they do: I'm more interested in Saints.
  24. Fantastic post Union Saint. Unfortunately, I think that it will be clubs further down the Leagues that will suffer. They cannot carry on in the current climate (look at Bournemouth, Luton, Rotheram, Darlington as primes examples: constantly in and out of Admin). The big clubs will always be able to survive (no matter the level of their debt): the sooner they f**k off to a European Super League the better. For all it's faults, the Championship just shows what a level playing field does for real competition (that will get people excited). I would almost compare it to the NFL: basically it's very open and a top team one year can be bottom the following. I can't remember the last time the Premier League was exciting and competitive.
  25. Good luck for the future Mark - you conducted yourself with great dignity.
