  1. What utter rubbish WC.............in case you had forgotten, when Adkins took over we were nearly bottom of league 1 and looking terrible. You could argue that Adkins got the best out of the players that you have mentioned that Pardew did not. Equally whilst some of Adkins signings weren't all that, some were: Yoshida, Clyne, Rodriguez and others that did a very good job to get us out of the lower divisions. Wherever Adkins ends up I am sure he will be a big success - just hope NC's decision does not condemn us to relegation.
  2. "The year 2012 was miserable as the club won just seven games out of a possible 35, drawing 11 and losing 17" And how exactly is this an upgrade over our Nige? Baffling in the extreme............
  3. f**k off, you're not wanted here We want our adkins back Old Nick - so you weren't happy with 2 defeats in 12 and 18 points from the last 12 games? be careful what you wish for....a manager that can't speak a word of English and turmoil at the wrong time of the season. A 40%+ losing percentage as a manager is not good at all.
  4. Completely baffling decision that really makes me want to follow Saints but not support them. This is a coach that was sacked from Espanyol with them bottom and with 9 points from 13 games. Yeah NC, a real coup for you you f**** c***. Can only see relegation now.......the team was together, playing well and now we have an unknown come in who probably can't speak a word of English and a group of players that are probably in as much shock as we are! Terrible, terrible decision. Nige - you deserve so much better than working for a complete c**k like NC.
  5. Cos he can't answer it......all he can do is moan and complain. Been that way all season - so Delldays do you think Adkins is out of his depth now and we are cut adrift in January? Do you not think WHU would love to have Clyne, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Ramirez and Lambert in their side? Do you honestly think WHU are doing soooooo much better than us? Why not look at the last 12 games and extrapolate out where we will likely be at the end of the season.
  6. Thought I would bump this thread following the great result at Chelsea tonight. Is that 2 defeats in 12 or 13 now in the League? This team is doing us proud and if we carry on our form we should get to mid table safety with time to spare and I think next season this side will really be something. Congrats to NA tonight for getting it spot on.
  7. Skate alert....or moron alert, not sure which! we should have brought Le Tiss in as a figure head and a talented young coach like Kevin Keegan in to take training said Joe.....except kevin Keegan is over 60 years old. Unbelievable................
  8. After a really troubled start to the season, the side is getting better and better and starting to look at home (on the whole) in the Prem. NA is also growing as a manager and showing he has what it takes to make us a better side. People have questioned the signings of the likes of Rodriguez - having watched the whole game against Villa just now he was magnificent and has pace to burn. He will only get better. Maya and Clyne were inspired signings, Shaw is the real deal and Ramirez shows glimpses of what a player he will be once he gets more accustomed to the pace of the Prem. Puncheon and Clyne have a great understanding on the right. The normal doomsayers are saying we have no chance, horrible run of games coming up, etc. whilst conveniently forgetting that means we get the really tough games out of the way for the season and our run in looks, on paper, far easier than some of our rivals in the bottom half. I think we will be fine this season and will only get better next season. Could not be more proud of our young side and manager - anyone who said we would be in the Prem and holding our own 2.5 years ago would have been seen as crazy and yet here we are.
  9. Usual suspects coning out and having a pop....guess as Guly did not play yesterday the chattering classes still need to have a scapegoat (despite us winning a massive game yesterday). Thank goodness whenever I see Saints games over here in the US the support (home and away) comes across as magnificent - obviously a lot from this board don't go! Ramirez will be quality once he adapts to the pace of the PL. Looking at some of the summer transfers would you have preferred: Giroud (13m) Hazard (32m) Moses (9m) Joe Allen (15m) Borini (10m) Rodwell (12m) Garcia (16m) Scott Sinclair (8m) Steven Fletcher (15m) As for the nonsense we didn't strengthen at the back.....SO Maya, Clyne and GKs don't count? This team is learning all the time and we are becoming very hard to beat (as 2 defeats in 11 shows). And we don't have over the hill over priced, aged players doing this. I remember when we signed the likes of Ripley, Hughes, Speedie, DIxon, etc. - "proven" players who had experience. It is unfortunate there are so many bed wetters and moaners on here that have so many knee jerk reactions. Thank goodness the majority of fans are not this way.
  10. hhas your user name got a silent c?
  11. Boruc is a clown....wanted far too long to clear it and then his kick was like a 65 year old clearing it....no leg strength or speed. New keeper please ......
  12. Boruc is a joke....top class keeper my arse! What a liability.....defence will be nervous as hell with that clown behind them.
  13. My god....Boruc looks a complete and utter liability! Why the hell is this useless p***k playing?
  14. Jeez.....Boruc MAY have been good at one point in his career but he sure as hell isn't now. If this is the 'best GK' then why was he without a club for so long after not being retained by Fiorentina? And why did they not keep him. He's done and I trust Adkin's judgement far more than anyone on here.
  15. delldays - why do you continue with your moaning? You really are a piece of work............ "having the run of fixtures from swansea to sunderland on saturday...probably the best set of fixtures anyone in this league could ever hope for...". Why not state the bleeding obvious? What it also means is that we had an horrific early fixture list as the games we have played "are probably the best of fixtures" anyone could have. Why not enjoy our resurgence, the fact that we are slowly adapting to the Premiership and we have a good chance of survival this year? You were one of the ones moaning in the summer how much better prepared Reading were......hasn't worked out so well has it? Can't work out whether you are trolling for a reaction or genuinely such a Debbie Downer. If our squad stays fit and we bring in 1-2 players in January we should be just fine and hopefully our younger players will be pushing on the 1st team door quite hard.
  16. Could well have something to do with the insane pricing at prem games (35 quid for ticket for Reading with pretty much no discounts for kids/OAPs) and crap economy with Xmas just round the corner. By way of comparison, I can go see a very successful MLB side (washington Nationals) with a good seat for as little as $8. And a terrible NBA side for as little as $2 (wizards). Add to that, most games can now be streamed live and I would imagine paying attendances play only a small part in revenue generation for the club.
  17. Jeez.........poor old NA can't win can he? With some of the posters on here, they get all excited because we fail to beat Man U, Man City, etc and we're told NA is out of his depth by the armchair experts. Now, conversely, we have a "kind fixture list" (conveniently forgetting the terrible fixture list at the start of the season) and some moan we have not done well enough in those games. We are now back in touching distance of several teams above us and improving. We should be OK if we can keep up the same performance levels and strengthen in January. This was always going to be a very tough year but the manager and team are learning and adapting all the time
  18. Brilliant!
  19. delldays.....why are you such a whiney, persistently negative person? Too long on a sub? Whatever it is, it truly is an embarrassment, your bedwetting attitude. The sky is not falling in, we are drawing against a pretty good Norwich side and to say that Gazza has cost us 4 points is just downright pathetic....not to mention calling him a clown. As bad as saying Adkins HAD to go as he was out of his depth, etc. Why don't you go and support Chelsea or Man U if you want to see a team win every week? Hopefully we will improve in the 2nd half and go on to win........whatever happens I am proud of this young side and it's manager and how they are learning to play, the right way, in the Prem.
  20. Really encouraging seeing the Luke Shaw statement in the tabloids about how he loves it at Southampton and doesn't want to go anywhere else. And if we can tie him down to a 5 year contract like JWP then maybe we are on the verge of being able to keep our younger stars as opposed to feeding Arsenal, Spurs, etc. So, now we are in the Prem and have cash do we really believe we can keep hold of our brilliant young talent? And, for those lucky enough to see the U21s and U18s.....who do you think will be the next one(s) to make the breakthrough? It really feels like our club is going places and the support for NA at games (from what I have seen on the Tv here in the US) is real impressive...unlike some of the bedwetters that inhabit this forum.
  21. Nice......the U18s look to have electric pace and some cracking finishes in there. For those of you lucky enough to be able to follow the U18s are there any "stand outs" amongst them?
  22. Kevin Gibbens, Phil Warner and Shayne Bradley......as someone else mentioned Neal Bartlett until he got into drugs (and he was a Branfoot picking)
  23. How many of you lot now feel very stupid? You should! Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? For those of you with short memories have you forgotten about the witch hunt with Dave Jones?
  24. FWIW......my thoughts are that Saints looked so bad it was unfunny. Lambert showed why he is not a nailed on starter right now, giving the ball away cheaply and not getting oin threatening positions (to be fair pretty much all the mid have done likewise, with Davis being especially bad) and Fonte is truly awful and nowhere near a Prem player. Pains me to say it but AL also looks far short of a Prem player and Jay has been about our best player (together with Gazza who should never have been dropped in the first instance). very difficult to see how Saints can get anything from this game and, although a long way to go in the season, we sure look doomed to relegation right now.
  25. Very, very disappointed in a number of "fans" here that are trying to make a big thing out of the tragic accident/incident that Allan was involved in. For me, this behavior represents no better than many of the deluded few and there but for the grace of god..... I hope that the guy makes a full recovery and that Allan is OK. Sickening......
