  1. I can't recall when we last finished with a positive goal difference in the top league. Anyone help? Also, we are on track for 57 points this season which would be massively impressive......despite trolls and WUMs saying differently this really has been a season to remember.
  2. Here's a novel idea. let's keep Shaw......we sure a shell could not get a replacement as good as him (even at his young age). the same folks saying what a great deal $x million would be are exactly the same people that would moan we are not ambitious if the player leaves or moan about lack of player loyalty. Jackanory posted an excellent piece of knowledge where he said he knows for a fact that Shaw doesn't want to leave.
  3. Great post jackanory and really interesting input "from the inside". Really hope it all continues to hang together as we should only improve as the youngsters get more experienced. Truly is an exciting time to be a Saints fan - as the future looks very bright with some of the Academy prospects that appear to be coming through. All credit to everyone concerned with creating the "Southampton way": including those no longer at the club. We appear to be a credit to football and other teams could do well to learn from the "Southampton way"
  4. no s**t shurlock! That is why I posted 'hopefully he will sign'.
  5. TBH......all those people saying he was sure to be off in the summer were basing that on what exactly? Every interview Pochettino has seemed committed and talking about the future, etc. Hopefully he will sign an extended contract and we will buy 3/4 players that will move our progression on further. If we had clinical strikers (like SRL used to be) I am convinced we would be in 5th/6th place
  6. Fascinating read - thanks Duncan and ignore the pathetic trolls who have nothing better to do with their sad, miserable lives.
  7. This will irk some posters for sure. But I believe we had most accountability for many a year when Lowe was in charge and say what you like about the guy but he would take the time to chat with fans if they approached him and explain why some decisions were being made. The whole idea of 'we got our club back' when the idiots took over (wilde and co) didn't end up too well did it? I, for one, am glad we have the Liebherrs and think the 'pipe dream' of a club for the fans is long since gone. Just can't happen in this day and age and not convinced it has ever been the case. Look at the mob down the road to see how a 'fans' club doesn't actually really mean that.
  8. AS - showing what a prize plank he is! What a surprise. Yeah, we're having a terrible time..... 8th in Prem and no danger of any relegation battle Possible finish as high as 6th Best footy in my lifetime A billionaire running the club Youth academy that is the envy of any other club in the UK Yeah....it's terrible being a Saints fan isn't it Alpine? And then you wonder why people take the mick out of you!
  9. Why is it a wind-up? Perfectly valid question. Lambert has been very poor most of the season and his legs have gone. We need at least 2 quality strikers in the summer to replace Lambert and provide competition. He has been brilliant for Saints but is not the same player any more. Very, very poor by all of them today.
  10. I cannot, in my 40+ years supporting Saints, remember a closer team. The spirit and camaraderie is stunning to behold and I believe plays no small part in our success this season. Have to say Mauricio just keeps going up and up in my estimation...his words about the team being more important than individuals (no matter how talented, such as Osvaldo) just shows what an amazing job he is doing. I truly hope we can keep hold of him in the summer as he is a class act. I already think this is one of the best, if not best, Saints teams ever (certainly based on playing style) and with Mauricio stays I can only see us getting better and better. Has there ever been a better time to be a Saints fan?
  11. great news........why are there so many p****s on here though? And you know exactly who you are. Finally seems like the club wants to have better comms with the fans (and businesses) and that can only be a good thing. Those saying they don't care about this sort of thing they only care about results need only look down the road and see where that mentality ended up.
  12. Very interesting the direction the club appears to be going (off the pitch) since NC left. Very encouraging that the club appears to be trying to mend fences with folks that NC upset. Sensible for the club to offer reduced hospitality fees to fill the ground, better communications with the fans, scrapping the parking charges for visits to the club shop, more recognition of past players, etc. I hope KL is in it for the long term and that this is not mere lip service (a la Saints gone Wilde) but the signs are encouraging. perhaps next season ticket prices may go down a little/be frozen and we will see the ground fuller. Encouraging and hopefully all these small improvements will continue. Still very exciting times to be a Saints fan.....only really Man City and Arsenal who play as attractive football as us and this is a great time to follow Saints after the roller coaster of the last 10 years.
  13. I'm with Charlie Wayman on this......can't believe you would compare the 2003 side with our current side. The current side is entertaining and a joy to watch with lots of young players coming through. The class of 2003 was hard working, a good unit but certainly not exciting or youthful....about the only game I remember (at home) being entertaining that season was when we tore Leeds a new one. Not sure about the best Saints side ever.....the highlight for me watching Saints was the team that came 2nd. The current team would blow the 2003 side away at least 3/4 - 0.....that side would never be able to live with the pace, movement or slick passing of the current crop
  14. awful decision to drop cork.....wanyama has looked a complete liability to date
  15. undoubtedly a quality player, and undoubtedly a prize c**t. Hopefully next time we'll sign someone who wants to be here. Sounds like he never wanted to be here and and was a caustic presence in the dressing room.
  16. Usual trolls and gullible fools responding with the sky is falling in. As much as I think Alpine is a twonk, Delldays/Batman ain't far behind. Why not just enjoy the season and see where we go after that? Some of you lot really need to get a life..................
  17. would have taken a point beforehand. Lovren and Ramirez injuries look very bad and Ramirez was looking excellent again. Lambert is done IMO......his legs seem to have gone and his touch has deserted him. With those 2 key injuries we need to buy in this window for sure and, sad as it is, look at offloading Lambert. Really need to be sharper in front of goal then we really would be top 6 material...hope Osvaldo is up for it for the rest of the season
  18. Boruc should have done better, much better: if that had been Gazza, the board would be in meltdown......but all season Saints have been profligate in front of goal and tippy tappy. We have had enough chances to be 3 or 4 up and wasted them. Lambert's legs have gone, Shaw will be superb but his crossing is terrible.
  19. We had to make all that possession count...but like most of the season, we haven't looked threatening in the final third. Also Steven Dabvis is, IMO, having a poor game
  20. Alpine - are you truly, as they see in these parts, a retard? You only appear to moan and disappear when things are going well. You know nothing - same as rest of us - and perhaps you ought to remember it is the Liebherrs who have bankrolled this club, not Cortese. Likewise your comments about Ramirez and Osvaldo were bang out of order, but no suprises there. Halfwit
  21. Reckon this all came to a head when the owners wanted to get lee off the wage bill and Cortese wanted to keep him....................
  22. he wasn't at the last game because he was on his annual skiing vacation. For all those of you spouting off at KL.....remember, none of the investments is Cortese's own money: it is all the Liebherrs. So why wouldn't they want an input on how the investments are made? Equally, am I the only one that finds it slightly nauseating that Cortese is obviously priming the press for his own ends yet never keeps fans in the loop? Working under intolerable conditions, etc.......you couldn't make it up. Fed up with the whole thing and would rather we could all concentrate on the excellent season (relatively) we are having.
  23. this is crying out for Gaston to come on and provide some creativity
  24. contrary to public opinion....jack cork is the weak link in midfield. Hurry back Wanyama!
  25. To counteract the trolls and usual suspects, thought it was worth pointing out that now is a great time to be a Saints fan. Yes, we are on a bad run: this will determine the true character of this side and what we are truly capable of. That being said, I see these as major positives: Style of football: very easy on the eye and light years ahead of teams like West Ham Youth: our team is VERY young and should only improve. The experience this year will stand them in good stead for next season. Then we have other bright prospects such as Reed looking to force their way in Stability: we do not appear to be cash starved and I am assuming we will have funds in the summer to strengthen further Wanyama on the way back Decent run of games (winnable) coming up 3 England internationals Gaston starting to show glimpses of what he is capable of Osvaldo to return and hopefully start showing what he can do Excellent chance of top 8/10: which would be a great achievement for a club second year back in the Prem The future feels really bright
