  1. Thought the same thing watching yesterday. Thought he looked far more of a threat playing deeper and his vision and passing at times reminded me of a certain MLT. Definitely think this is the role for Ricky next season.
  2. You know who you are....>Alpine and co. Once again Saints play majestically and you are conspicuous by your absence. Saints now pretty much nailed on for 8th. Great season but of course Alpine can only moan about what MIGHT happen (or not) in the summer. COYR
  3. perhaps one or two of you ought to take a step back and take a deep breath. While we had no cutting edge up front, can you really be surprised? Our record signing is out on loan, our top scorer is out for the season and our only established striker remaining needs a break. Despite this, we played some beautiful football today - would you rather we were set up like Villa? Play for a 0-0 with hoofball? Unlike under the Strachan era when we finished 8th most people recognized that was the high water mark and we were unlikely to repeat that feat. This year we have a really young team that will only be better next year for the experience gained this year. If we can keep the core of the side together and keep the manager next season could be even better than this one.
  4. We are truly blessed to have talents like CHambers et al at our club. Not only are they terrific prospects but they also appear decent lads off the pitch. Full credit to the club and everyone involved in the Academy. Sure seems like none of our young uns are in a rush to move away from Saints. Will certainly be interesting this summer.
  5. With his record he wouldn't get the job anyways.
  6. he was head and shoulders above any other Saints player today. Anyone who could not see that is a fool - his touch was fantastic and he is deceptive.....it looks like he is not running yet covers so much ground so quickly. For some they will always say he's lazy and doesn't run but that is wrong - and he was the one player today who was not one dimensional
  7. Think some will change their views when they see the reply said Delmary Bet they don't.......there are some seriously, seriously sad people on here. Talk about Internet warriors........how on earth can anyone say that Fonte's challenge as not a penalty? Equally although on first play it looked like Gazza flapped for their 3rd as Minty says it was an absolutely fantastic cross that Boruc probably would not have reached either. Still - don't let that concern you little boys behind your keyboards who have never done anything wrong in their lives.............
  8. What a great article and fantastic to see Claus has got himself back on track. He was a solid, loyal player for us and, despite Alpine's typical vitriol (what a sad, sad life you must lead), really contributed to Saints retaining their Premiership status for a number of years. Hope he stays sober.
  9. very impressive.....fulham are top of the table. Lots of competition for places at most levels can only be a good thing for the future of Saints.
  10. I will gladly sign up to a petition to get Glasgow Saint the medical help he is obviously so direly in need of. Gone beyond being a repetitive joke, to many users no longer posting because of this moron and his ilk.
  11. I can't recall when we last finished with a positive goal difference in the top league. Anyone help? Also, we are on track for 57 points this season which would be massively impressive......despite trolls and WUMs saying differently this really has been a season to remember.
  12. Here's a novel idea. let's keep Shaw......we sure a shell could not get a replacement as good as him (even at his young age). the same folks saying what a great deal $x million would be are exactly the same people that would moan we are not ambitious if the player leaves or moan about lack of player loyalty. Jackanory posted an excellent piece of knowledge where he said he knows for a fact that Shaw doesn't want to leave.
  13. Great post jackanory and really interesting input "from the inside". Really hope it all continues to hang together as we should only improve as the youngsters get more experienced. Truly is an exciting time to be a Saints fan - as the future looks very bright with some of the Academy prospects that appear to be coming through. All credit to everyone concerned with creating the "Southampton way": including those no longer at the club. We appear to be a credit to football and other teams could do well to learn from the "Southampton way"
  14. no s**t shurlock! That is why I posted 'hopefully he will sign'.
  15. TBH......all those people saying he was sure to be off in the summer were basing that on what exactly? Every interview Pochettino has seemed committed and talking about the future, etc. Hopefully he will sign an extended contract and we will buy 3/4 players that will move our progression on further. If we had clinical strikers (like SRL used to be) I am convinced we would be in 5th/6th place
  16. Fascinating read - thanks Duncan and ignore the pathetic trolls who have nothing better to do with their sad, miserable lives.
  17. This will irk some posters for sure. But I believe we had most accountability for many a year when Lowe was in charge and say what you like about the guy but he would take the time to chat with fans if they approached him and explain why some decisions were being made. The whole idea of 'we got our club back' when the idiots took over (wilde and co) didn't end up too well did it? I, for one, am glad we have the Liebherrs and think the 'pipe dream' of a club for the fans is long since gone. Just can't happen in this day and age and not convinced it has ever been the case. Look at the mob down the road to see how a 'fans' club doesn't actually really mean that.
  18. AS - showing what a prize plank he is! What a surprise. Yeah, we're having a terrible time..... 8th in Prem and no danger of any relegation battle Possible finish as high as 6th Best footy in my lifetime A billionaire running the club Youth academy that is the envy of any other club in the UK Yeah....it's terrible being a Saints fan isn't it Alpine? And then you wonder why people take the mick out of you!
  19. Why is it a wind-up? Perfectly valid question. Lambert has been very poor most of the season and his legs have gone. We need at least 2 quality strikers in the summer to replace Lambert and provide competition. He has been brilliant for Saints but is not the same player any more. Very, very poor by all of them today.
  20. I cannot, in my 40+ years supporting Saints, remember a closer team. The spirit and camaraderie is stunning to behold and I believe plays no small part in our success this season. Have to say Mauricio just keeps going up and up in my estimation...his words about the team being more important than individuals (no matter how talented, such as Osvaldo) just shows what an amazing job he is doing. I truly hope we can keep hold of him in the summer as he is a class act. I already think this is one of the best, if not best, Saints teams ever (certainly based on playing style) and with Mauricio stays I can only see us getting better and better. Has there ever been a better time to be a Saints fan?
  21. great news........why are there so many p****s on here though? And you know exactly who you are. Finally seems like the club wants to have better comms with the fans (and businesses) and that can only be a good thing. Those saying they don't care about this sort of thing they only care about results need only look down the road and see where that mentality ended up.
  22. Very interesting the direction the club appears to be going (off the pitch) since NC left. Very encouraging that the club appears to be trying to mend fences with folks that NC upset. Sensible for the club to offer reduced hospitality fees to fill the ground, better communications with the fans, scrapping the parking charges for visits to the club shop, more recognition of past players, etc. I hope KL is in it for the long term and that this is not mere lip service (a la Saints gone Wilde) but the signs are encouraging. perhaps next season ticket prices may go down a little/be frozen and we will see the ground fuller. Encouraging and hopefully all these small improvements will continue. Still very exciting times to be a Saints fan.....only really Man City and Arsenal who play as attractive football as us and this is a great time to follow Saints after the roller coaster of the last 10 years.
  23. I'm with Charlie Wayman on this......can't believe you would compare the 2003 side with our current side. The current side is entertaining and a joy to watch with lots of young players coming through. The class of 2003 was hard working, a good unit but certainly not exciting or youthful....about the only game I remember (at home) being entertaining that season was when we tore Leeds a new one. Not sure about the best Saints side ever.....the highlight for me watching Saints was the team that came 2nd. The current team would blow the 2003 side away at least 3/4 - 0.....that side would never be able to live with the pace, movement or slick passing of the current crop
  24. awful decision to drop cork.....wanyama has looked a complete liability to date
  25. undoubtedly a quality player, and undoubtedly a prize c**t. Hopefully next time we'll sign someone who wants to be here. Sounds like he never wanted to be here and and was a caustic presence in the dressing room.
