FC - you made some interesting points until you started with the insults to Kruger. Basically out of order, no need for it and makes you look like a plum. Krugers credibility with you might be zero: does not mean it is with everyone. Far better to judge at Christmas when new guy has been given time and we see how things are going: rather than the knee jerk reactions going on right now. Including posters like Crab Lungs magically pulling a figure of 15 million out of the air as our transfer budget. Based solely on his opinion, yet leapt upon by the doom sayers as proof we are being stripped down.

what a bunch of c**ks you lot are. Boo Hooo Hooo......manager leaves (Board could do nothing), player in twilight of his career leaves to boyhood club (4 million for a 32 year old is quite amazing) and makes clear he wants to go. Why don't you all just wait and see what happens before throwing yourselves off a cliff.......but there again, perhaps thats the best thing for you all? Bunch of pussies

Just cab't see the attraction with Moyes. We were spoilt with the style of play under Adkins and Pochettino and I just don't think Moyes has that in him. His teams are defensive, hard to beat and well drilled: but creative and flair: no. I just don't think he would fit the 'SOuthampton way" whereas younger coaches like Koeman, De Boer, Yakin are probably more suited to the "Southampton Way"

PMSL.......GM: your quote "Unfortunately, it is now "tending towards a breakeven point" is priceless. For many years you have said that the club should be on a sound financial footing. Why is this now unfortunate that we are being run in a sustainable manner as opposed to a way that would only end in tears? Would you run your business by throwing a ton of money at it with very little chance of return. Despite the doom and gloom merchants, I am very pleased that the club will run within its means (and there is no indication that KL will not put more money in). This is the way forward for a club like Saints: not taking an almighty gamble and betting the house on red. We've been there before and nearly went out of business. have we learnt nothing?

MP had us playing the best football I have ever seen at Saints (35+ years) We did not score enough goals and MP had no Plan B: now the Prem is fully aware of his style we may well see teams developing strategies for dealing this style of play (and did at stages last season) This is an opportunity for the new Board to prove their mettle: hopefully they are up to the challenge (and it is a big challenge) MP made our players much better, no question but had a dubious record in the transfer market (Osvaldo especially) Our great youth setup was in place long before MP and hopefully will continue to churn out talent on a regular basis No one person is bigger than the club If we lose any/many players we will be in a terrific position financially and hopefully KL will back the new manager in a positive way to bring in reinforcements Club did not fall apart when Adkins was sacked or when NC left and no reason to assume it will now We need to make an appointment quickly and ensure we keep the nucleus of the team together Oh well, onwards and upwards

CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.
washsaint replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
In answer to your question DellDays training ground that went from 15 million to 30 million Signing players and taking out BVI loans (while many clubs were doing the same) But also look at Pochettino's comments about needing proper, man City style investment to get to the next level: how on earth could we do that and why should be expect KL to spunk her inheritance away to satisfy clowns on here? -

lol..FF, touche and put that miserable git in his place. In agreement with you: it was going to end badly with NC as he was obviously spending vast amounts that, long term, were not sustainable. I would rather have a sustainable club than get in he predicament we were in a few years ago. And most of the posters bleating are those that were saying 'not fair, Pompey cheated their way, blah, blah, blah'. Now is the time for the new look board to step up to the plate and take control of the situation. Then will be the time to judge them, not now when their hands have been tied -
Goodbye MP - now f**K off and get the sack at Spurs. What an absolute scumbag and how long has he been planning this? As for the bedwetters....get a life. People (players and managers) will come and go but the club will still be here long after they have gone
-
seconded (colinjbs response).......Mclaren has done wonders at Derby in his short time there and has brought through a large number of younger players. We'll see, would still love (even if pie in the sky) for Frank de Boer to come here
-
wigan Saint.....just when I thought nothing could top the OP, we then have the hysterical tarts Alpine and Richmond and to top it all....most pointless, pathetic retarded response goes to you! So you will stop supporting Saints because of our owners (who saved the club and our meteoric rise through the leagues). Logic (or lack thereof) there defies belief.
-
Monk - you speak too much sense for this forum! The club will be here long after current players/managers have been and gone. Never less than interesting being a Saints fan!
-
saint charlie......why, oh why are you such a drama queen? What the hell is the club meant to have done? Pochettino has behaved very poorly and I no longer want him at the club even if THFC does not come off. He has clearly shown he cannot be trusted and good riddance: hopefully we can appoint a good manager to continue our progress. Remember how after Adkins was sacked this forum went into meltdown and we were doomed? That didn't happen and I don't believe it will happen if/when Pochettino goes. Whatever happens we need to appoint a young, ambitious, hungry manager who can continue our progress.
-
who bloody cares....just go Pochettino. No loyalty and stringing Saints along to get the best deal for him....and making us a media circus. he could have just said "I'm staying" but has chosen not to. Saints will still be here long after he goes and I just hope we get a real quality replacement in (e.g. de Boer)
-
Ah, the Metro: the paper that cannot be trusted! I'll believe it when I see it on the OS and not before
-
My god - what a fuss over nothing (yet). To date, correct me if I am wrong: 1) Pochettino is still here (how can you blame the Board for him hedging his bets?) 2) No players have been sold - of course some will likely be sold, but likewise we will "steal" someone elses best players. That's the nature of football. 3) If players leave it will be to further their careers at top, top clubs not clubs a similar size to Saints. And we should get top dollar for them. 4) We are smoking crack if anyone thinks we can break top 4. how exactly when our average attendance is around 32K and we are not a global brand 5) NC has left....yes, he did a terrific job in rebuilding Saints. But this was bankrolled by the Liebherrs who appear to be getting some very unfair criticism. As others have said, what would NC do minus the Liebherrs funding 6) Why should the Liebherrs spunk their families inheritance to placate unrealistic expectations among some of the fan base. That worked well for PFC, Leeds and others didn't it? Why can't we just wait and see what happens over the summer. Posters stating "95% fact that Shaw and Lallana are gone" have not got a clue - you know what, the sun will come up tomorrow and set tomorrow evening. Does that make me as ITK as these posters that are claiming facts all over the place?
-
Why can';t you answer the question Saint Charlie? You seem quite vocal that he (and many players) have left....even though no-one has of yet. What is your reasoning behind being certain that MP is going/has gone? Lets face it you have no idea (same as the rest of us) and you need to chill out and not throw the toys out of the pram. Mass hysteria on here which is actually quite laughable.
-
wow.......these fox sports commentators are so biased to Arsenal it's untrue. Thank the lord NBC took the Prem rights from Fox. And Vinnie Jones in the studio in jeans....what the hell is that all about? C'mon Hull! You went too defensive when you went 2 up.
-
I was driving through downtown DC yesterday.........No brainer why he would go to Spurs

Can we put to bed the nonsense that we were doomed when NC left.....

errrrr......why do you think Cortese is no longer at the club? -

How many players have we sold so far? Answer is 0. The reason we have not been a selling Club is that no one wanted our players - with the exception of shaw who the new board did not sell in jan. Only other player in demand was the Ox and we did not keep him under the no watch. lots of hysteria on here at the moment with very little based on fact. -
I cannot believe the nonsense being spouted about NC on here. How if he had been at the helm we would never have had bids for our players, we would never have sold players, we now lack ambition, etc. Many posters on here are being VERY disrespectful to the Liebherrs by saying the new board has no clue, etc. Lest anyone forget here are some facts rather than conjecture: NC was paid 2 million per year, with very few other Prem CEOs being anywhere close to that The training ground costs doubled to 30 million It was not NC's money that he was spending....and in many instances wasting. It was the Liebherrs NC not wanting any interference - including the owners that were bankrolling "the project" - ran the real risk of no governance and potential financial catastrophe long term Commercial aspects were ignored - look how many corporate boxes were empty NC wanted to airbrush our history: and the club was around for 100+ years before he came in We would do well to remember that it is the Liebherrs that are bankrolling the club. I, personally, have no problem with the club having to live within its means as I don't want a repeat of the financial meltdown a few years back. Final note, all clubs are selling clubs. Nature of the business.
-
You know what.....I am so f**n bored of this whole speculation already. MP could kill it now by either saying he wants to stay or he wants to go.....simple. He appears to be stringing the club along so call his bluff: tell him to decide on the new contract by Monday or f**k off and have a replacement lined up. This is ridiculous and you can see NC's hand all over the press with some of the absolutely insane stories that are coming out.
-
FC - so how come Man U could not keep hold of Ronaldo? How come Spurs could not keep hold of Bale? How come Everton could not keep their star players? Surely it is as easy as you are describing to keep hold of players or perhaps those clubs lack ambition?
-
OldNick....................you can't have it both ways. In a previous post you said if he goes it will be because we lack ambition and players were sold he didn't want sold and now you talk about reinvestment of funds and that you'd be happy with 25m reinvested. How on earth do you and others on here have the slightest clue about what KL's plans are for the club (other being in it for the long haul and wanting to continue to progress)? And please don't say NC would have had a plan.....so did Peter Storrie, Peter Risdale et al. Very easy when its someone elses money/on the never never.

What a load of old cobblers. So should we pay MP 200K per week just to keep him? And anyone who believes the club can stop anyone leaving who really wants to leave is naive at best and stupid at worst. We are not a top, top side and if players want to leave they will: Ronaldo left Man U despite man U wanting to keep him, Everton have lost key players like Felliani, Rodwell, Rooney, etc. so to think we can simply say we should be in a position to keep all our players is ridiculous. It is a sign of how far we have come that so many top clubs want our players. And the same people who were complaining about how the Skates got away with it re. their overspend are now seriously suggesting we should break the bank or we "lack ambition". You couldn't make it up!
