  1. good that he speaks good english - seems all our overseas signings have a good grasp of English which will help with settling in
  2. oh do fu** off Dulldays. Don't you have anything better to do than be a poor mans WUM?
  3. Agreed...comes across as exactly the right sort of character for us after the billy big ******** who have left this summer
  4. good luck to the guy - not his fault we have paid massively over the odds for him. Just the stupid, unsustainable nature of todays market.
  5. As also confirmed/reported by Echo. But, also, no immediate plans to open contract talks either. Don't think RK rates Cork and he's the one that counts, not fans on this message board (rightly or wrongly).
  6. so the guy who spoke to LR in the car park was probably speaking the truth. Glad we gave up on this guy: more trouble than it's worth
  7. Bloody hell. Schneiderlin has a real cheek - let him rot in the reserves. Signs a new contract worth 45K per week and then claims he was told he could leave less than 12 months into said 4 year contract. What a prize c**t he has turned into.
  8. Of course the resident experts know far more than Koeman and Pochettino. Seems neither, for whatever reason, rated Cork. Not sure why not but they are the ones in charge. This does give Reed the chance to move up the pecking order which is no bad thing
  9. quelle surpris - usual suspects come out of the woodwork to sneer and tell us we are falling apart. Going for top 6-8 finish most seasons and trying to get into Europe would be a success for a club our size As someone on another thread has said, we now appear to have 2 players for pretty much every position which gives us the strength in depth we did not have last season (even if individually the players might not be like for like talent wise with what we have lost). Question for you Batman - you are very good at saying 'no' so what is your vision for how Saints should move forward? Surely you have one as you seem quick to say no to anything anyone posts remotely positive?
  10. After the initial dismay at the team being dismantled earlier in the summer, I now believe we will certainly finish top 10 this year. I am thankful we have missed out on the 'marquee' signings (Rojo - shown to be a mercenary, Hernandez - what has he actually ever done?) and have gone for good, solid professionals that will do a job for us with the minimum fuss. Truly believe Gaston will be like a new signing to us this season with a manager who believes in him. We have strengthened in positions we knew needed strengthening and now appear to have good depth to the squad that was not there previously. It feels like we are going about the new 'project' in an Everton type way: not overly exciting in terms of buys but sustainable and long term planning that should bring stability to the club. Add to that with 2, maybe 3, young players such as McQueen, Reed and Gallagher looking to have breakthrough years and suddenly things look a lot brighter than earlier in the transfer window. I'm not expecting to be as right royally entertained as last season but is should certainly be interesting and we should have a good guage of how the season is likely to pan out after the first 10 games or so. Feeling a lot more confident going into the new season now.
  11. Know nothing about this player but, for some reason, feel very confident he will be an outstanding player for us. Certainly feel better about this signing than Long. So that should be 7 in (at least) and 3 first team regulars and 2 not so regulars (Lambert and Chambers) out. All in all, not a bad transfer window and certainly no signs of the 'asset strip' that some of the more highly strung posters have said we were going through.
  12. Is Irene actually Artur himself?
  13. Top post Florida........it's quite amazing really. Baseball is awash with huge contracts yet you don't see any of the entitlement issues that football (both UK and US) and NBA have. We sure dodged a bullet with Rojo...........
  14. blimey Saint Charlie - you've changed your tune! Good to see that you are more positive now and agree we have made, on the whole, solid acquisitions. But LOng would not count amongst them for me in any way, shape or form. he is a donkey pure and simple with a pathetic scoring record and very little resale value due to his age. Ings is young, unproven but like Rodriguez would have been a gamble well worth taking....anything over SHane bloody Long!
  15. No chance......Taider, Reed, JWp, Wanyama all ahead of Cork for me. And that's even before Morgan....so yes he is well down the pecking order and it would seem Koeman doesn't rate him. However, based on the fact it looks like we are paying stupid money for Shane bloody Long why not give Cork another contract?
  16. Win over with a scoring rate of a goal every 4 games or so and cost nearly as much as Chambers? Set the world alight at Hull (or not as the case may be). Hopefully he will be a success but not a very inspiring summer and Reed is looking a bit foolish saying we had top players from across Europe interested in playing for us.
  17. That would be Zaha I assume.....but in relation to Cork, makes no sense to not offer him a new contract yet pay stupid money for the dross that is Shane Long
  18. oh dear....if it was anywhere close to 12 million I would seriously question just what the board are up to. After promises of good signings this would be a real let down and we would be right royally fleeced - 67 goals in 270 appearances is cack. Pretty uninspiring all round and starting to wonder what style of football we will be seeing this season and whether the youngsters like Reed, McQueen, etc will get any game time over some of the signings that have been made. And pretty much no resale value. Horrible suspicion we are going to end up a lower mid table side that is not even that attractive to watch any more.
  19. shane long.....bloody hell. All for being realistic but that feels like scraping the barrel. Not exactly a prolific goalscorer or one to get excited about. Here's his stats: goalscorer he really is not: 2005–2011 Reading 174 (44) 2011–2014 West Bromwich Albion 81 (19) 2014– Hull City 15 (4)
  20. Thank god we did not sign Rojo......if he is "going on strike" now this would have been a Lovren situation all over again for us in 12 months time if we had secured his transfer. At some stage, we (as a club and fans) have to accept that in todays market making a marquee signing is not necessarily a good thing. Didn't work with Osvaldo, wouldn't have worked with Rojo (judging by his character traits he is displaying) and won't work with the next one (e.g. hernandez). We should concentrate on signing young, hungry players that actually want to play for Saints.
  21. Why spend everything that we have got for departing players right now? Seems sensible to me that we keep some back for January (if we need new players) or next summer rather than, like Spurs, spending the windfall all in one go
  22. Dear oh dear. Did anyone expect us to sign a 10 million keeper and then sit him on the bench. Am loving RKs' directness: says things direct (just like van Gaal) and at least players/supporters will know where they are at with little room for any confusion.
  23. Professor - you ought to change your handle, because you don't come across as one! 2 loans in our SQUAD. A squad of around 22 so less than 10% and yet you try and spin it that our team is made up of cast offs/loans. Truly pathetic.....plus the 2 loans we have, we have the option to buy.
  24. Good choice the Giant Defy. Bought one last year and it's a great bike for long rides (I have the carbon fibre variety) and still feel comfortable and strong after 80+ miles on this bike. Great for the mountains and flats - as View From The Top says, well worth waiting until the bike becomes "last season". My bike was half price at $900 (yeah, know that's not the UK).
  25. so hypo and old nick....are you there in person to give your judgement? Or just interpreting from the Twitter feed. Nothing the club does would ever please you two.
