The Unofficial Official Unofficial Saints kit ideas
Polaroid Saint replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Saints
I love this 'design your own' shirt malarky. Here's the latest version of my favoured 'rising sun' strip. Plus a retro St.Mary's YMA inspired jobbly. -
You're not having mine. I dropped it the other day and had one of those heart in mouth moments before it decided to bounce, thankfully and magically, like some sort of fabled Indian rubber glass, up off the kitchen tiles. I too took this bounce as symbolic of our current situation... ...bloody superstitious bunch football fans; and especially so at Saints n all.

Taken teh ova! taken teh ova! taken teh over! Well nearly... ...Very much looking forward to Matty doing absolutely sod all ALL season; save for the odd masterful decision out-of-nothing, a couple of audacious signings that no-one else would even have attempted let alone pulled-off, and no-doubt the occasional bit of genius just for show in the boardroom. very happy polaroid boy me, oh yes... ...taken teh ova!

Funny. I thought he was a Tranmere Rovers fan...

Jim Mig! Saviour!

He has walked amongst them yes! A few of the QPR players had houses in one of the most nortorious, ahem, so called, "pikey" areas of Owlsmoor (nr Silver Hill). Couldn't possibly comment meself, being a local n all. ;-) We all found it quite amusing at the time. Which was also about the same time this film was having a silly, yet profound, effect on me and my teenage mates. Interesting Basingstoke is almost EXACTLY half way between Owlsmoor and St.Mary's Stadium. Could it ALL just be coincidence? Yes. Any more coincidence stories? Sorry, I mean takeover theories?

I had tea at Rufus house. Made by Rufus himself. In a QPR mug. When he lived in Owlsmoor. all true. What number am I thinking of dude?

If there were no other players on the pitch the keeper would have saved it. Pointless observation, but most likely true... ...great strike in an important game from a player who's had an 'average' season performance wise and still scored twenty goals from midfield. how can you not 'hate' (green eyed monster) Ronaldo?! ;-)

One of the main reasons I stopped going to SMS is because the stadium itself is sh!te. The atmosphere is as bad as, if not worse than, any I have experienced at any other kit-built stadium. Access is poor, it looks a dump, the beer queues are abysmal and as for the fans (MY fellow Saints fans and not all of them, but in general) are stuck up their own a*ses half the time - You meet another Saint in the street and you can chat for ages, meet them at SMS and they barely even make eye contact. The 'brinkmanship' from the fans in certain sections and lack of passion in the majority of the rest of the ground makes me sick when I think about my younger years going to the dell. The vibe at St.Mary's has been rubbish since before we we're relegated from the Prem. The 'yoof' are sickeningly allowed to intimidate (not like the old days, when it was men who you'd "respect" in case of a thick ear [or worse]). Also there's always the attitude that if we don't score in the first few minutes (and when did we ever do that?) that we are gonna lose. Sure I know we are a pessimistic bunch as a rule, but the stadium seems to heighten that in everyone. BTW - I include myself in all of this, I turn into a right turd too when I go to SMS. St.Marys? the f*cking problem all along, the financial side just adds to it. So, uberfans and rubbishfans (like me) - WE ARE ALL TO BLAME. The uberfans for helping make the £100 day out to St.Mary's such an arduous ordeal and the rubbishfans (like me) not having the stomach to justify the cost. The football? ha, to paraphrase Tina turner, whats football got to do with it?

How's about dressing up as Forest fans?

Polaroid Saint has issued a 'come and get me plea' to the Saints fans forum footy match selectors. "It would be a dream for me to play at St.Mary's" said the 32 year old left back. "I am available if they want me. It is my dream" he reiterated. Polaroid Saint has been enjoyed a long and successful career on the left side (although he was sadly looked over when the England national team could have used his left midfield pace). Now in the later stages of his Saturday football career he has dropped to left back and can slot in at centre back if required. Described by previous managers as "having the legs of Inspector Gadget" the well-timed tackle remains the strongest part of his game, although he still has adequate pace and a good eye for the game. Generally a clean player he has been known to use the odd sneaky trip to nullify opponents attacks. "Polaroid Saint loves this club" said his agent "it is his dream". etc.

Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?
Polaroid Saint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Is it worth the reminder that Lowe wanted to appoint Wotte before Burley? Or does that higlight his subsequent appointment of JP as even more incorrect and misinformed. By reading between the lines - mostly from Wotte - I understand Wotte was sounded out about becoming 'manager' 'head coach' or whatever during the summer, but he himself (wotte) did not want that role. So, did Lowe appoint 'next best' when he really wanted Wotte from the start? Either way, it was monumental ****-up that was supported - outwardly at least - by our current manager. The total football youth squad policy has been rapidly cut back and we have the right blend doing the business at last. This was not Lowe's plan at the start of this season, but maybe it was Lowe's plan a few summers back... ...if that's what you mean Trousers? -
Erm, Are you sure about this? I mean if someone shouts out to a Glaswegian "Oi, Scottish Man" is this racism or merely statement of fact? If they say "Oi, Scottish Tw*T" does this turn it into racism or is this merely 'verbal assualt'. I also would say although it is common to refer to different National Identities as 'races' (The English Race for example - as used by the BNP etc) this is not technically correct. Perhaps "Prejudice Based On Ethniticity" is a better term, with Xenophobia as the root cause. Things get a bit more niggly with national identities and slang - for example - Afgahnistan nationals are Afgahns, Kurdistan nationals are Kurds, which SHOULD make ****stan nationals Paks. Of course we don't hear this at all, instead we hear a bastardised and very insulting version (more often leveled at at Indian nationals - who find it even more offensive, but mainly because of their own prejudices and national obsessions...) I think the main thing boils down to context, both historical and current. Although the Welsh have hardly been treated 'fairly' by the rest of Britian (I mean , they don't even get a look in on the flag); at least they haven't suffered a history of suppression, repression and genocide at the hands of the English (Scotland and Ireland). So, back to the valleys with yer, you leak-munching sheep-****ging odd-shaped ball loving taff git. :-)

THAT is exactly what we've been missing. Seriously, the first line up al season that has looked balanced in terms of youth and experience, skill and guts, and both raw and realised talent. Of course that didn't guarantee a win, but is the sort of team should be fielded to do well - at the very least compete in the CCC. Great win, but feeling slightly numb by it all, so don't feel quite like I normally do after a saints win. hmmm, I guess it remains to be seen if it's corner turned over a new leaf on the the up or just a the flash of a swallow in the pan and into the fire etc etc... UTS

THAT is exactly what we've been missing. MORE SHOUTING AND POINTING! UP THE SAINTS ^^^^

how will you celebrate the next home win
Polaroid Saint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
After watching the highlights on my HD Holoplayer, I'll be sure to let my mates know just how pleased I am via senso-text and then I'll jump in my VW ElectroHooverGolf, park up right outside terminal six at Heathrow and take one of them there 2hr space flights to New York for the evening and dance the night away at a highly fashionable naughties revival party. -
well that was short lived weren't it?

We got six inches of snow yesterday, which is now compressed into ice, and heavy snow falling a'top of it covering it up and making it verrr slippy on the roads. I wouldn't want several thousand people driving to my place tonight... ...properly dangerous (plus I haven't got enough beer n pies in). Canada (etc) cope because they have the infrastructure designed to cope with it; they spend millions more on it than we can/do. In fairness we do alright considering the rare few days of snow we get. However, I understand Southampton is much less affected than we are here, and SMS is by the river... ...so, cool. Game on. Orange ball, Orangeboom, Oranje!
