Funny this idea that Adkins has been given full reign at the club is the polar opposite to what i've heard from people within it. From what i've heard he has a stay of execution of three weeks (effectively given his notice) and Cortese is actively searching for a replacement. To be honest i totally trust those sources and think he's probably a dead man walking, but i still think it's a monumental fu.ck up on Cortese's part.

To be fair we did all know the defence wasn't good enough, the only doubt in it was on if Kelvin could perform or not. Sad to see the answer was not. Jay Rod was to me one of the strangest signings of the summer and smacked of a small child wanting his toy no matter what (given we'd been refused in the championship).

What i can't believe is whenever something bad comes out about cortese people bury their heads in the sand and attack the man saying it - see the ollie lancashire thread - it's getting to the stage where it reminds me of the skates singing mandrics name. Anyone close to the club has known for a long time what he's like, it's just that his failings have been masked by success, now we're failing more are seeing what's happening but in my opinion it may be too little too late worryingly. I just hope to god we haven't gambled as much of the club as people suggest on staying up!

Really what about the people that made the signings? Adkins has been stitched by a power hungry loon that's in charge of the club, sad people can't see beyond the Cortese as savior thing since it's becoming more and more apparent what an arse he is.

Baker street by Gerry Rafferty, those of a certain age will know why

Very true but it does make you the absolute ****ing scum of the earth who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near our club. Personally for me if he gets it i won't step foot inside st mary's until he's gone.

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
ericb replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Problem is to do so would implicate the people involved and given how small the football industry is that could have a terrible effect on their careers. So for that reason alone i'm bound to just passing on vagaries. Sorry -
Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
ericb replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
What matty is saying pretty much rings true with various people i know who are or have worked for the club during his time there, yeah he might be successful (at the moment) but i've heard very few good things said about him as a person. -
drunk round west ham loads and you never get any bother, think you're probably just watching too much green st to be fair. Loads of good pubs on the route out mind, definitely recommend drinking round spitalfields/brick lane then a short hop from either whitechapel or liverpool st on the tube.

The main problem is some of our more simple fans seem incapable of differentiating criticism & questioning with negativity. You question whether spending a fortune on upgrading a stadium (currently) that isn't full, you're negative. You question bank loans being taken out when we're apparently rich, you're negative. You question signing attacking players when we're desperate for defenders, you're negative. You question substitutions that have cost us points, you're negative. Or of course you could just realise that you can support a manager and team but still be adult enough to look at weakness' and debate how these will be fixed. Sadly the web has made way too many too partisan so any intelligent discussion is smacked down by the kids that have grown up with The Bestest Everything in the WORLD EVER syndrome.

Some Tweets Saying We Have Borrowed Against Future Season Ticket Sales
ericb replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
To be fair for all we know it could be similar, the difference is that the majority of Saints fans are questioning it now. The real question is how far do we go and how long do we leave it? As fans of this club we have a responsibility to dig into the finances and make sure we're run well, and if we aren't being to do something about it. This place has shown information can be got (just look at the PTS thread!) so who's going to do that for us now? Or are we just going to stick our fingers in our ears and shout it could be nothing! -
He was a proper legend but players like him, Jimmy Case and OOOOOH Terry Hurlock wouldn't last a minute in todays game sadly
-
first game i'm missing this season as i'm in manchester this weekend, but the season ticket it being used by some other drunken idiot so that's all good. To be fair i'd actually forgotten it was on sunday/tv so i could've maybe worked something if i'd remembered. Oh well guess watching it with drunken mancs' will be a laugh.

Thinking about it Forest's City Ground is in a really nice location and easy to get to pubs from too, always liked Forest away since it tends to be a good laugh up there.

I thought Peterborough was alright to be fair, just by the river and some cracking little pubs around. The biggest dump has to be Boro who manage to include out of town and festering cess pool of inbred life in one go.
-
Can't think of a better location than SMS, out of town grounds are part of the cancer that's killing football and i love the fact it's only a 10/15 walk to the best pub in the city too (the Alex)

The best saints perfotmance i've ever witnessed
ericb replied to The Majestic Channon's topic in The Saints
Love that liverpool 4-1 i was under the roof to the right hand, just under the over hang by the crash barrier. We were class that night and i can't think of many better. The point with that one was it was against such a good side and we completely took the ****, the equivalent of doing it to barcelona these days. Gotta say i miss those days of the Dell and the terraces so much, great times and formed friendships for me as well as a love for the game. -
Is it just me or did Rickie look quicker yesterday? I'm sure he was getting onto things that normally he wouldn't have caught up with? Maybe it was just the way Gaston & Lallana were playing him in was different, more dinks through, but there was definitely something noticeable about how he was getting away from the defenders i thought
-
That article made me seriously nostalgic for those days!

Wow more pointless stats, just what football needs right now...

What's the wierdest thing you've ever seen someone do at football?
ericb replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Eat one of the urinal blocks in the bogs behind the old archers road stand -
Or more likely the history of trouble between the two sets of fans i'd guess.
-
To be fair the more people that use that fuc.king ridiculous "Bompey" term the more people will think it is. They're Bournemouth or the Cherries, and have been as long as i can remember.

Walking from SMS to Portswood area- best itinerary
ericb replied to melmacian_saint's topic in The Lounge
Best pub in southampton! Mind you it's starting to get pretty heaving on a match days these days, good thing Joe recognises the regulars -
posted this in the wrong thread! To sell rickie this window would be madness, he's been our top scorer for since he joined and outscored both of our english signings last season (both of whom are untested in the prem). For all we know this new fella might take time to find his feet and Rickie has already shown he can score in this league. I'd expect it to be far more likely that he'll be given till christmas, that way he has time to prove himself in the prem so his cost rises and see if he fits in the team, i'm sure Nigel wouldn't take the risk to start without him in the squad now. It smacks of paper talk, or maybe Rickie's agent trying to show that if he's not a first choice he'll be happy to move, whatever it is i'd be very surprised if it happened.
