What the Bear said. Can't see Long getting much game time with JRod and Mane available.

The only people that think it is "pathetic" to revisit old threads are those who are too embarrassed or belligerent to actually admit they got it wrong in the first place. Its the classic Alpine Saint defence of "Its what I believed at the time therefore it was fair comment". No; you just got it wrong. Plenty did, so just hold your hand up and admit it. Those that expressed doubts are all happy to be proven wrong. I am. During the summer I said I'd give it until the transfer window was closed to make a full decision but I was very doubtful of the board at one point, and whether they had the ability to pull us through. I got that one wrong, I should have had more faith in them. There you go, it's actually very easy to say you were wrong rather than go round the houses and paint a picture to distract from the fact, just because you can't admit you didn't get it right.

Did he? Or did he just thump his heart. I know its en vogue to get all outraged about Lallana but f*ck me, he got a bit happy about scoring a very good goal for his new club. I see no need to get all precious about it, its all very small time.

The new Southampton City gateway has failed its building inspection

Methinks the old boy is on a rather good wind up here. I'll admit I fell for it at first. -

Not sure what the obsession with striking pastel is on buildings these days but it looks horrendous as far as I'm concerned. The fag butt looks dreadful, I'm yet to meet anyone other than the Emperor's New Clothes bods on here who think it's anything but an eyesore. It's akin to the terrible new car park in Bournemouth. -
You're also forgetting that none of the good posters come on here any more and you can see why!

Entirely agree. Liverpool fans lap that bullsh1t up about the club "meaning" so much more to them than other fans. Plus I'm fairly sure players we've signed before like Lambert have all commented that playing for Saints, at St. Mary's is bigger than anything they've done before. So Lallana saying that representing one of Europe's biggest clubs and (former) powerhouses is not really too far removed from that.
-
The only things I've heard about it are that the club thought a £16M offer for a reserve right back was too good to turn down. So I think it's less a case of the player pushing for a move, and more a case of (possibly) the club not realising his full potential. Although time will tell whether he will truly end up being a top class centre back. But I certainly prefer Clyne right now at right back.

Anyone else think we could be on the verge of something special?

That would be like accepting mediocrity. Champions League place or nothing. -
Definitely some of the best bed wetting of the summer (amongst having a pop at others for not buying into the whole act-like-a-spoilt-child routine). Truly well done Crab. Some of that is even up there with much of Alpine's finest.

Not a great draw for us; but a very good draw for Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenhas who should all go through. 1/4 finals should be pretty strong.
-
I think it's fairly irrelevant what the owner is worth when it has been made clear she won't be propping up the club to cover its debts any longer.
-
I'd have the lot of them, but only if it meant we could keep everyone we bought this summer too. That would be some squad. Although we'd be bankrupt before the summer. So maybe not.

Dumb Krakens. Good work Bear.

Excellent line up; really glad that Koeman is taking the cup seriously.

Down negative boy, down. while most others are enjoying a win you're bringing the mood down. Troll.

Which is all very well were it not for the fact that attendances fell by about 600 people per game last season. And that overall numbers were 1500 per game down from our all time high 10 years ago. I must say I'm staggered at the amount of people sticking their fingers in their ears to what has actually been said by the chairman. We're not expanding any time soon. We might in the future, but not until we see a significant about turn in numbers game after game after game. And that point is certainly not now.
-
Dear God. MLG and his band still not grasping it and still banging the expansion drum despite the chairman saying it isn't happening soon. Only on SWF.
-
Tell it to a Ralph. He's the man making the decisions and, unlike you, knows what he's doing and is clearly in no rush to get it done. Im im more than happy to follow Ralph's lead on this one. It isn't happening "soon" and I'm fine with that right now.
-
Good the hear some clear and rational words from the chairman with sensible benchmarks of how an expansion might happen. Certainly no rush to do it, and only when demand exceeds supply. It might finally put to bed the "build it and they will come" nonsense, but I doubt it. Well done Ralph, further evidence of sensible and sustainable planning from the board.

Lallana looks like a man massively lacking in confidence. Lovren looks a bit lost defensively. I think Lovren will come good, Lallana needs a goal to settle him in. I won't shed a tear if he doesn't get it.
-
Should have been a pen conceded by Lovren, red bottled it

Aha, the classic Alpine-Saint style riposte to getting called up for talking total b0llocks. "Well it's easy to criticise in hindsight but at the time I spoke it was hard to disagree with". Just admit you were wrong, lad, and move on. We've all come out with some whoppers over time. Just hold your hands up and admit it. Firing off chaff at others to try and disguise the folly of some ill advised initial comments does no favours.
