"The trust now wants to reach its nominal target of £10m, pledged by fans in shares of £1,000 each, to form the acquisition capital it would use to try to gain ownership." In Pompey's case I understand the desire for fans ownership, they've had crook after crook and enough is enough of ripping off local schools, businesses, charities, the tax man etc etc. I can't say I'd want fan ownership at SFC though, its really not for me at all for a whole number of different reasons.

Yep. We've also seemingly stopped shoehorning players into positions that aren't their natural own, either through design or injury. Rodriguez playing out wide; Lambert when paired with Rodriguez up top dropping off and not playing as the main striker; Yoshida at right and left back, amongst others.

 Classic!

I'll laugh my arse off if it turns out he was clearly onside.

8 year contract

Great performance and result, clean sheet an added bonus. MOTD tonight is going to be brilliant, I may have to crack open a bottle of red in anticipation. Really pleased for Nigel Adkins too, he really is a top man.

Welcome on board; it really wasn't that much of a bizarre notion.
-
Unfortunately its not just the price that is the issue; its the quality of product on offer. Its all very well maintaining a premium price, if the quality isn't reflected in that then its going to be awfully difficult to fill the seats even with a team that is performing higher up in the league.
-
So we can only likely get close to selling out the corporate areas if the club are performing at the top of the league? If not, then they're vastly undersold? Sounds like a strange business model to me. Even dear old MLG was at pains to stress that we had multiple sell outs at the stadium in the year we got relegated.

Perhaps more important than the chairman being liked by the fans is the answer to either of these questions: 1) Is the chairman a proven and successful businessman? i.e. does he have a full grasp of everything that he has taken control of? 2) Are businesses around the area inclined to align themselves alongside the chairman and by association the club. Answers on a postcard to "Not so much, c/o St. Mary's Stadium".

It's not a be all and end all by any means. But I'd much prefer to like our chairman, or at least respect him, as opposed to the opposite.

It was splashed over a totally pony kit, too. And a blue away one, FFS. Pony

Well he owes him for the fact that he inherited a good side from him, doesn't he?

Jordan Sibley. I think he's got a little man crush, bless him.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/newcastle-game-selling-well-505383.aspx Tickets not yet sold out for Sunday. Surprised on two counts; firstly, that Newcastle didn't take up their full allocation (I guess Europa League travels have taken their toll, but still would have expected them to fill it). Secondly surprised Saints haven't sold out by now, at least in the regular seats. This is comparable to the Spurs game in terms of size; ok we've got 800 odd more tickets to sell but still, Spurs sold out around a couple of weeks in advance.

Wow; that's really quite rubbish. Surprising, as their Matt Busby statue is awesome.

I was just thinking "what happened to Air Florida?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Florida

Seriously dude; you even quoted my post, how did you manage to still spell my username incorrectly? Which was your favourite Pompey sponsor?

"It is very rare I am lost for words but I saw the statue last week and it is awesome - a tremendous tribute to a great man. Southampton fans have waited a long time for this and it is going to be fantastic. I really believe it will be the best football statue anywhere both in size and the amount of detail". Ted Bates Trust chairman Dave Ford.

Give miltonroader his due; its pretty difficult to make a judgement on players from all the way down at Fratton Park. Just an honest mistake, I'd suggest.
-
Bless him; it's one of his better ones, to be fair.

Draper Tools. Now they were a proper, rugged, man's man of a sponsor.
-
Andersen, Harley, Dickinson, Rocha, Michalik, Howard, Russell, Allan, Mendez-Laing, McLeod, Benson. Try not to boo your own players this time, though.

Imagine being the photographer. "Now, hold up your season ticket from last year. That's it. Now look a bit grumpy. No, a bit more. A bit more still. That's it. You, Wonk in the background, can you just look like you've got sh*t smeared under your nose? Yes, that's it. Perfect". Click. And they say investigative journalism is dead.

stuff invented now you wish was invented back then.....

A combover wouldn't work, so I'm stuffed in that regard. Rather than "balding" my hair has taken on a "significantly thinning" look. Not quite enough to truly get the razor out and be done with it (apart from summer holidays to avoid the drowned rat look coming out of the pool) but enough to make that regular trip to the hairdressers an ever-more depressing event than the last time and witnessing first hand the latest fallout. Luckily I'm of above average height so I'm not at the point of cursing all of my luck just yet. To get back to the original question; I think people massively underestimate the combinations of internet, downloadable music and ipods. The ease with which you can now get hold of any tune in the world and own it for personal play within seconds is night and day from a mere 15 or 20 years ago.
