Our goals are from a set piece and a corner tonight so I agree we're not good enough in attacking areas. Although this isn't our strongest line up. Defensively and in midfield we have been decent though.

I never profess to being to being the best Saints fan but family and friends illness/death matters have largely got in the way of me concentrating on Saints for the last couple of weeks and it's been quite easy to be able to be detached from Saints, to the point that I'd forgotten we were even playing tonight. Hopefully we can put in a performance tonight and get a decent result so that things start looking up. I still don't think Martin is the right manager for us going forwards but if the board have backed him then we may as well try to get behind him and hope that results turn around. The City game completely passed me by at the weekend but it sounds like we gave them a game. Now we need to turn performances into wins. Tonight being a cup game at least means we have a chance to boost our confidence levels. Hopefully.

This for me, while we probably will go down and, points deductions aside, it already looks like 3 from 4 at the bottom of the table will go down, we still have 30 games left to make a genuine fist of trying to stay up, Onuachu and ABK are here at least until January… use them! We have players with some quality, we shouldn’t be rolling over and accepting relegation just yet. Sack Martin and bring someone in that can organise a defence, someone that has no preconceptions about our players or favourites and just have a bash at survival. At the very least someone may shine that, if we do go down, may have their value increased that we can make some money on them. We likely won’t have Dibling, Ramsdale, THB, Fernandes, KWP, maybe Sugawara etc next season which would be gutting. It’s only October and we’re taking about the Championship season next season - that’s too early for me, the board just need to make the right calls.

I love Saints but fuck me do they make it hard work to love them. We're just the sort of bonkers club that would go to City and play brilliantly then get totally twatted by Stoke and Everton. Please God can the board just give us a chance and sack the manager. 8 games in and I still don't think Russ even knows what his best formation is, let alone his best team. I bet he even has trouble picking what he wants from the menu at a restaurant.

There's relegation though and then there's being the laughing stock of the whole world. We'll be mentioned in the same breath as Derby County if we don't change Russ... maybe even worse. He has to go.
