I hope Billy Sharp doesn't leave. This is the league where the size of your squad makes a lot of difference, and even if he won't be regularly starting, he'll have his part to play. A good goal scorer is worth a fortune, and while Billy may have some failings, he's far better than some in this league. He wants to play in the Premier League, he has his chance now. Selling him back to the Championship would be harsh on him. (Although looking through Cortese's financial glasses, lightening the load on the wage bill and getting a transfer fee would be a plus.)

I'm weighing up the "he'll sign" posts with the "he won't sign" posts to see who's ITK. As we don't know whether he's signed or not, I can't complete my investigations with any definite certainty.

Says he signed up at 21:30. Sounds like this is in the bag. The greatest signing of our time. I was alive when we signed Keegan, but only just and I certainly wasn't a Saints fan back then! I'm going to bed now, excited like it's Christmas Eve and I'm going to wake up to a lovely present.

I could be that our whole first choice back four from last season becomes our second choice back four this season, but we'll see. I still don't think we'll see another left back in, and we'll put our faith in Shaw instead. Another centre back is a possibility though, but time is running out. Any club will fight to keep their players today because getting replacements in will be tough. (Though for lower league clubs, they do have the loan window and free transfers.) With Yoshida on board, I'm happier than I was with our defensive situation. If all we sign today is Ramirez, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed for more though!

Well Adkins likes his RCB's to be right footed and his LCB's to be left footed so I assume Yoshida will be to replace/stand in for Fonte. Whether that means he sees Seaborne as Jos's shadow remains to be seen.

I stand at the urinal until somebody pushes the hand dryer. Then I let rip. I've been known to time my poos in pub toilets using the hand dryer as cover noise. Especially poos which are really farty. Biglia would be a cracking signing, even though we don't need another central midfielder. Him, Cork, Morgan, Davis and JWP would represent outstanding talent in that area for a club that would be happy just to fight off relegation. Thank God in just 23 and a half short hours, we'll know once and for all if all these posts have been futile or not. Funniest scenario? Saints announcing that we're putting off his signing until January. This thread will have broken the Internet by then.

Fonte's been making mistakes for a while now. He's still a good squad CB but I'd be much more comfortable bringing in better. Jos is immense, and I have no concerns with him. Hopefully Yoshida will give them a run for their money, and potentially make them play even better in order to keep their place, but I still think we have another CB on the way.

A centre back. Brrrrrrap. If you want my feelings on the transfer, the most vivid I'm feeling right now is.... relaxed. (But that may be because I've just had one of those really long wees that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.) So a pacy striker and a centre back this week. We're getting there.
