  1. Adam needs to curb the watersports, or he could end up in hot water. (Boom Tish)
  2. Will be cheering on Blackpool in the final then. Now let's nick a bunch of useful Brum players. :-) (I accept we'd feel horrible if our players were being nicked because we didn't get promoted but we did, so there.)
  3. Oops, missed this - you'd already made my point for me. Stuff distance to travel - the key to who we want to go up/come down is who will be easier to beat next season. So QPR to come down and one of the "B" teams to go up please.
  4. QPR have the finances to strengthen, Bolton less so. I view each potential promotion/relegation issue as to what is better for Southampton FC, in terms of which team will be the easier three points. If QPR strengthen after survival, they'll be a tougher nut to crack next season than Bolton would be.
  5. Promotion from League One still hasn't sunk in yet. I can't believe we achieved it. I've only just got over us winning a trophy at Wembley.
  6. For this first season at least, if we don't sign any keepers this summer, I won't be upset. I have confidence in both, but I do expect Adkins will be looking around for a perfect replacement.
  7. I still think Bolton could stay up though. QPR have Man City, which is virtually a guaranteed no points, so really, even though they're two points behind, survival is in Bolton's hands, just. Stoke away is a tough game, but it will show whether Bolton have the stones to stay up. I'd rather they did too, QPR to get relegated please.
  8. I'd say Jesus pushes him close, and he was our right back. Lucy Pinder? THough she's more "G-List", if you get my meaning.
  9. Hard luck Cardiff. Can we have Peter Whittingham now please? :-) I've developed a bit of a vendetta against West Ham this season, on a personal and forum level, so I hope whoever meets them in the final gives them a good game (and possibly wins it) but you can't argue that they're the third best team in the league this season - and they've shown it over the two legs of the play-off. I think Birmingham have the best chance of beating West Ham, and to that end I hope they make it past Blackpool. In Chris Burke, they have one of the best players in the league, and he could be the man to stop West Ham. I like Hughton too, a lot more than I like Holloway, even if he is almost definitely leaving to take the West Brom job.
  10. John Bardon singalong. Mind you, it'll be a little different than the last time... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?16101-John-Bardon
  11. Our goal should be to become a stable Premier League side, financially sound, with an academy that produces quality players that fill around half our first team. Can we challenge for the title? One day, not in the next five years though, but having said that, Newcastle aren't doing badly in their second season in the league. That all said, we could drop back down to the nPC next year, in which case the 'new' five year plan could be to get back to the Premier League - as the current one was.
  12. At work last night, one of my colleagues who was having a smoke outside saw one of the WHSmith employees throwing a fricking massive bag of food into the bin, sandwiches, Walls goods like pasties and sausage rolls, sushi and the like. Most of it was Best Before the day he was throwing it away, but the odd thing had a week to run. Naturally he asked the bloke for the bag, who duly handed it over, and brought it down to us to help ourselves. There must have been over £200 worth of food in that bag. Ludicrous wasteage. So from now on, we plan on intercepting the WHSmith lot each evening so that those of us on late shifts get fed! Any of you been lucky with free stuff?

    Stadium name

Eerily I had this very thought today. If I had been a Newcastle fan, I'd have been thoroughly annoyed to have my stadium named differently to its traditional name. I can understand it being done to new stadiums, because you tend to get used to it, a la the Reebok, but I was always glad when Saints fans won their right to have the Friends Provident stadium renamed. If it's good for revenue, I genuinely think it'd be ok, but it would have to be a decent advertiser, like 'Saints transport' or something! (The Saints stadium - perfect.)
  15. Good old fashioned sing song competition between the stands. A 15 minute composition sesh for coming up with new chants. Big screens showing porno. A "blast the Flybe plane out the sky" competition using rocket powered tennis ball launchers.
  16. Right lads and lasses, with all the juicy signing speculation in readyness for our Premier League season, when do you think our first signing will be announced? The winner gets bragging rights for the whole season ("I'm a better fan than you 'cos I got the date right") and a £10 gift voucher. (Yes I'm being flush.) Rules are: it must be a new player coming into the club and not just a current player signing a new contract, it counts only when announced on the OS, you only get one choice (meaning if your date comes and goes without a signing, you don't get another choice), and the winner is the FIRST person to post the correct date. Guess away... In order to try and save myself a tenner, I'm having July 7th. So you can't have that.
  17. I still think one of the winners of the "B" semi final will be the winner of the play-offs. Birmingham and Blackpool are good attacking teams, and I can see West Ham failing against them should they make the final.
  18. My children were reading this thread, I'm so unspeakably mad at this post... ...they now want to be frogs.
  19. Not this summer...
  20. 1) That was definitely a goal for Ostenstadt. (His third). Fecking dubious goals panel. 2) Berkovic was class. When I first started playing football at school, I was told not to lean back when shooting. He did, and it still fizzes into the net. 3) Scholes and Beckham could still DAJFU. 4) That's my favourite Le Tissier goal of all time. Beautifully executed, and he celebrated in a manner similar to Cantona when he scored THAT goal. (Which was very similar.) 5) I made my mum tape MOTD that night, then bugged my parents all day on the Sunday when I watched it on a loop.
  21. I put it on another thread, but Lamberts' goal against Leeds was the most important. 3 key points away from home, against the run of play, that we really didn't deserve. There's too many to mention though. Sharps first against Coventry settled us right down for instance.
  22. Could anyone have got it more spot on than you? Amazing hindsight or a total fluke, it's eerie how true this all was/is. I like Tisdale, and who's to say he wouldn't have done better at a bigger club, but Exeter are on the slide to League Two. (Albeit they're standing by him for now...) We hit rock bottom and it only got better from thereon in. So yay for me. I'm not going to have a dig about this post, but what I have to say about it is it is exactly what a journalist on TalkSport said about Roy Hodgson yesterday. He's already written off Hodgson as a complete failure - even to the point when the presenter asked him if he's eat his words if England won anything or got close, and the journalist said he wouldn't have to, because England wouldn't under Hodgson. Closemindedness. Hodgson may be exactly what england needs, just as Adkins was exactly what Southampton needed.
  23. Adam has an outside chance if he has a couple of good seasons in the Premier League, but as good as we think he is, I think a pacy winger would be chosen before him. Someone like Moses or Zaha. (Edit: Just remember Moses switched allegiance to Nigeria...)
  24. I wonder if we get them, whether advertising would have an effect on our chants? "He plays on the right, he plays on the left, Adam Lallana thinks Pepsi tastes best."
  25. Sam Gallagher could also come through in the next couple of years. Plymouth seemingly becoming our feeder team, instead of us being Arsenals! http://www.football365.com/southampton/7649669/Saints-snap-up-Argyle-youngster
