Looking at the table, it seems that anyone from Ipswich up is in reasonable touching distance of us, and I suspect a few more from further down could suprise everyone with runs towards the top of the table. (Birmingham are still a threat, Reading, Leeds, Burnley etc.) That said I think a couple could drop away - Derby's start has been amazing but I genuinely think they're overachieving - as perhaps are we - and they'll probably finish up in the higher mid-table. Brighton too seem to be faltering after their good start. I think our start has been fantastic, but I'm not very surprised, we have some great players here, and great manager and a chairman ruthless enough to make big decisions. Can we keep it up? Sure, if we can keep the big players away from injury, but I think the good times will end at some point. A top 6 finish is more than achievable though - finishing in the top two would be orgasmic. In summery, we should be on 30 points and ten points clear of Middlesbrough.

Very happy today, although a little hung over from last night's shenanigans. Apparently I spent the night hiding from my friends in the nightclub and peering around corners. I was very drunk. 4-0 is a comprehensive win, especially as it sounded like we didn't play well in the first half, After only one point from two games I was concerned of form had dipped and we'd slump away from the top, but thankfully it seems our home form will carry us through.

Jonjo Shelvey scores for Blackpool - excellent loan signing there.

Got a feeling Deano will score today. Not sure why...

GOAL RICKIE!!! (Ipswich equalise through Chopra.)

Penalty!!! Lambert come on!!!

ANother corner! COYS!!!

Guly nearly - come on Saints - make the corners count!

I'll try it - maybe we won't concede in the first 15 mins after half time as per.

Is going for a smoke at half time a waste of a lucky cigarette?

Harding is still my favourite player because of his sheer comittment he gives in a Saints shirt. He's a good left back, not the best, but I always feel comfortable when I see his name on the team sheet. I've yet to see Fox, but I think he'd have to go a long way to displace Harding. I feel sorry for Dickson though, but it does seem like his time here is numbered. If Fox is better going forward, I still think he should be moved further up - after all, Lallana can play anywhere - I'd like to see Adam as a support striker to Lambert - I think he's got the brain for it.

It's not about the goals we HAVE scored, it's about the goals we have YET to score. We need a striker loan in - we're quite weak in strength in depth up front. Yes, we have players that can play there, but we need an out and out goalscorer to come in - as we're top, as the OP says, what better time to bring in someone of real quality until January.
-
Come on Saints, quit effing around and score another before half time. That's an ORDER. Or I'll get the ladies out.

Burnley have got their shyte together.

Afternoon all, great weather we've been having, I'm off out later to get thoroughly tanked up for my 31st birthday (despite not turning 31 until Tuesday week), and a Saints win would make this day perfect. Nurses or nuns? We must be exhausting the nun pictures.

Striker still needed imo but still amazed by our start. 10 points in the prediction league too.

I'm not used to this losing thing. Ballz. A win or a draw now would be a magnificent effort. We have Lallana, De Ridder and Guly on the pitch. It's still not all over unless the defence fall apart even more... Fingers crossed. Here's hoping Boro win. ( I know that sounds weird as we won't be top, but it'd stop Leicester closing the gap on us.)

I wonder if praying will work. 30 minutes left.

Right, Nuns aren't working. Nurses aren't working. I'm going commando...
-
A good chance for De Ridder to show what he can do. Handball? No. Cardiff score. Bumder.
-
I'm going with nurses for a change...

Lots of key late goals in the nPC last night, will we see the same tonight? I think it's shaping up to be so. Bloody internet connectivity issues here - I missed most of the first half commentary trying to get t'internet to work. Mobile broadband was fine in my last house, where we live now is an mobile blackspot. :-( Still, only on contract until November, then we can get PROPER broadband, and I'll never have this problem again. Touch Wood. Second half, started brightly. Lucky w*nk anyone?

Saints V Cardiff - First Half and Half Time Thread

Just had an Ice Lolly. This would have been more useful this afternoon when the sun was baking me into a crisp. Is it a lucky ice lolly? I could do with eating some more...
