  1. If it's a name that fits the ground, and we get a shed load of money for it, then fine. The McAlpine Stadium had a ring to it. The Durex Stadium wouldn't. If we ever do go down that road, then let's hope common sense prevails. The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium was always going to be a mouthful, and it was always going to be a mouthful. Truth be told, if I were a sponsor, whilst I would want the maximum amount of exposure, I wouldn't want to annoy the fans, who are the very customers I'm looking to advertise to.
  2. He was worth £7.5 million on CM2003, so I always sold him at the start of the game to generate income. (He was always wanted by big clubs too.) To this day, I don't think I ever started the season with him in my team. I remember his performance against Spurs in the cup, that was something special.
  3. Our form without Lallana showed we are not reliant on him. Chaplow has been outstanding for a couple of months now, and Guly is having a great season too, so in terms of creativity, we are blessed. Lambert perhaps fills the category of "if he's out, we'll struggle", because while he doesn't always get the goals, so much play goes through him. We know this and I'm pretty sure Adkins knows this, which is why I wouldn't be suprised to see a striking addition in January. We could cope without him though, we have a big squad and, just as Chaplow admirably filled in for Lallana, I reckon someone would step up in Lambert's absence, should the worst happen. It's a good piece though, and I cannot get enough of reading praise about our team this season. I will never get tired of that!
  4. Fonte covers his hair at night, but one morning he woke up and it wasn't there. Apparently, he's enlisted Rickie Lambert to help him find the net.
  5. Incidentally, does nobody want to loan Dickson, or does Adkins not want to loan him out? Seems a bit harsh on him to not get game time one way or the other. Begrudgingly, as Harding is/was my favourite player, Fox has settled in very quickly, and has made full benefit of Harding's injury. Harding will play a part again, he is a very hard working player (although the nPC is perhaps his highest level talentwise), and a pro. I think it's fair to say that left back (even excluding Dickson) is one of our strongest positions in terms of squad cover.
  6. I hate international breaks. :-( Having just had Sky installed yesterday, I can't even use it for Domestic football for two weeks. Roll on the 19th.
  7. Well if that's all Saints fans have to moan about at the moment, then things are going swimmingly.
  8. The pros outweigh the cons about being in the Premiership - seeing people's answers, it seems that being in the Premiership would be more good for the club and city, and less good for the fan. In the Championship, it's the opposite. I love the Championship, but I don't wish to be selfish - being in the Premiership makes the most sense. We DO have one of the best youth teams in the country, and with the new rules coming in, being in the Premiership would protect our youngsters from being pilfered by "big clubs". (Though granted, opportunities for the youngsters to play would be diminished.) Financially it makes the most sense too. It's a moot point at the moment anyway, we're only a third of the way through the season. Enjoy the country's best league while we're still in it.
  9. Stare at the League table until a little bit of sperm comes out. (This does not apply to a win that happens when we're 24th and keeps us 24th.)
  10. Bottlers! The top of League One looks ruddy tough this year - tougher than last year I would say. Charlton have come from mid-tabledom last year to absolutely fly this year, Sheffield United will be itching to get back up too. Huddersfield perhaps deserve an auto spot, but may once again have to settle for the play-offs, and we all know how they fare in the play offs. It'll be interesting to watch it unfold.
  11. ... for Saints I'm led to believe. Granted, I guess none of us were even born back then, but do any statisticians out there know our results that season? And how many more would we have to win to have the best start to the season of all time?
  12. Smurfette has no tits. Surely:
  13. Hypothetically, if you were Nigel Adkins, would you sign anyone in the January transfer window? Granted we have just under a couple of months for form/injuries to take their toll, but do you think we have any gaps in the squad, or should we wait until the summer before signing anyone? I ask because I (and I'm not the only one) thought until recently that we were in need of a striker. Now, I think a new signing has the potential to cause unrest for what is a very settled team, and our form certainly indicates we aren't in need of anyone. For me, I feel a permanent addition isn't needed until the summer (at least...), but we could boost numbers with a loan. What do you think?
  14. November manager of the month already nailed on for Adkins then. :-P Another three points, and away too. Every stat you look at about Saints at the moment is orgasmic, in fact, I want to have sex with the league table. Can we stay top by Christmas? Can we stay top until the end of the season? The defence will seemingly be our downfall if we drop, but they way we've been playing this season, I wouldn't put it past us being champions, and I NEVER expected to be saying that before the start of the season. If there is a God, he's definitely a Saints fan this season.
  15. I meant to book the Brighton game day off work, and forgot. Now I'm p.o'd. Will be a big game - they'll be desperate for a win at St Mary's. That said, I think it'll be more entertaining than the 0-0 (God bless Kelv) I witnessed last season, and it'll also show who is truly the best of the promoted clubs. :-) Straightforward 3-1 win please.
  16. Coventry's best player? Selling him in January would surely send them down. I still think we should've signed him in the summer though - ticked a lot of boxes for me, not least because he would have been inexpensive and because he is a Saints fan. As it happens, we haven't needed a striker, contrary to what I thought at the start of the season, as Guly has scored quite a few, Connolly has suprised us all, and we are blessed with the attacking nous of Lallana and Steeeeeve.
  17. Predo league means nothing to anyone tonight! :-)
  18. WTF is going on!!! Deep in the bowels of the earth on't Tube, I can't keep up with what's going on bar word of mouth, and a smart phone with a battery with the life of a carrot. COme on Saints, don't screw it up now - show your mettle.
  19. We are not like Norwich - they are supported by smelly, fat crapweaselly women. We are supported by sexy, hunky intelligent men. (If my missus reads this, I'm going to be in the dog house until kingdom come.)
  20. Having experienced two relegations in recent times, it's not the death of a club I used to think it was. Yes, relegation from the Premiership did eventually bring on our administration, but you look at Charlton, Forest, Leeds, Us, Norwich etc etc and you see that sometimes it's just the kick up the backside a club needs.

    Going up?

We had this question last season! Yes, winning the play-offs (and you are apparently guaranteeing that) gives you more money, and three extra games to enjoy, including one at Wembley, but I personally would take Champions every single time. The glory of winning the league (hopefully with six games to spare!) is far more enjoyable, a great summer celebrating and a title to boot. Heck, I'd take second over winning the play-offs too.
  22. I bemoaned the lack of strikers we have at the club at the start of the season, an injured Barnard, and ageing Connolly, and a lot of pressure on Lambert. I was desperate for the club to sign a new striker to bolster our attack, and that Guly and Forte were wingers, not strikers, and if they did play up front they'd just be filling in. Guly though has proved he can be as effective up front as any other striker, so all credit to him. I do still feel we need another striker, but now it's as either a long term replacement for Connolly or a decent back-up to Lambert (or both if that's possible!), not as an extra striker. When I gave and received the thumbs up from Guly in Southampton after his first St Mary's goal, he became a legend in my eyes! It is a shame he's approaching his 30's, a few more years of him at his best would be brilliant.
  23. Who was the MOTM? Anyone?
  24. I refuse to use anything nPower have to offer, after they once ripped my Dad off, who had done nothing to warrant it. My Dad was wandering around the Ideal Home show, and one of the blokes in the nPower booth asked if he would like more information on their products. He agreed and provided his address for them to post their information to, but before he knew it, they'd taken that address and changed all his bills to nPower, without his permission and without a signature. He was furious, he contacted the Ombudsman (I think it was) and wrote to whoever he could to get this noticed. (Apparently he wasn't the only one they'd done this to either.) This all leads me to say, regarding an nPower cold caller that knocked on his door, he gave them an expletive laden short shrift. (And my Dad rarely loses his temper OR swears.) Generally I'm quite patient when someone knocks on my door - it's up to them if they want to see me in my boxers or with a stiffy.
  25. Terrible, terrible news, and fair play to him for stepping up to play tonight. My thoughts go out to him and his missus. .
