  1. In Adkins we trust. While I personally approve of signing Jutkiewicz, a useful player, (although not at the £3million quoted - wasn't there a link to him for less than a million in the summer?), I think we do need a striking addition up front. I like Barnard, Guly and Lambert, but Connolly is getting on in age and still picking up knocks. We need insurance to Lambert's position, and a replacement for Connolly. The replacement for Connolly can wait until the summer when we know what league we're in, but strengthening up front in case we lose Lambert makes common sense. (However unlikely losing him seems, he's a machine, but the worst could happen.)
  2. I can't quite put my finger on why, but half time queue lines and kiosks within view of the pitch is worrying. Also, I think we should call any Markus Liebherr-based stadium name, the Liebherr Bowl. :-D
  3. "Hasn't kept a clean sheet in any games he's played in." What did we ever see in Forecast? Was he brilliant for Spurs reserves and then received brain damage before signing for us?

    The Statue

I'm still laughing at it (and this thread). It's a shame they didn't auction it off - it would have made millions. I'll give this club credit, Ali Dia, Ted Bates statue mk1, Steve Wigley - when we cock something up, we cock it up BIG stylee.
  5. Banana skin is definitely the right word for this one, Bristol City have picked up some results of late, but if we want to be genuine title contenders this should simply be just another 3 points. I hate saying "I'll take a draw" at away games, but as I think we're good enough to win this (especially with the back-up of Barnard on the bench once more), I won't say it! 3-1 Saints, our favourite scoreline. (and a game I think Adam will rediscover his goalscoring form.)
  6. Next they'll crack down on swearing, and ".....oooooooooooooooh YOU FAT BASTARD" chants will see us all banned. (Homophobic chants are propah nawty though.)
  7. I was 8. (boarding school for ten years on music scholarships) Moved out of my parents house at 19 to live with a mate in Chiswick, moved back home 3 months later and lived there until 3 years ago, aged 27, to live with my missus.
  8. My meeting with Ray Sist was only bettered by my rendezvous with Ray Piste.
  9. Phone tap the living ****** out of dead people's relatives then publish your findings on here.
  10. Kudus Oyenuga? K.O.? The song's gotta be Knockout, by Lil Wayne. Kudus 123, go and nut the referee... Or not.
  11. :rolleyes:Furthermore to my earlier comment from last year, I am both surprised and delighted at achieving promotion, and our form in general. Overreaction on a forum is funny though.
  12. I'll look after the kids as long as you promise not to do any background checks.
  13. He's a good lower league striker. A natural goalscorer although apparently has a bit of an attitude problem. Simeon Jackson took his spot, and is probably the better player, but still a good signing for Palarse.
  14. Indeed, cracking signing. Good goalscorer, I'm just surprised nobody's tried signing a Norwich striker sooner, they've got a million of them.
  15. Oh no, it's gone? I'd have paid £300 for a real leather bean bag. Hey ho.
  16. A lot of his career means less than 35 games for Blackburn. I know it was a friendly, but for a player who's been playing centre back (and a bit of right back) for Man Utd, to be chosen over talented, possibly more experienced, midfielders smacks of the big club syndrome. Either that, or we have a distinct lack of English defensive midfielders. Again, IMO.

Biggest load of shyte of the modern television era or very clever and funny black comedy? What's your opinion?
  18. Playing Phil Jones in midfield instead of proper midfielders shows the power being at a big club has on your international chances. IMO. When Saints are one of the big four, Lallana, Shaw, Ward-Prowse and, erm, Jack Stephens will look good plying their trade for England...

A full team of Saints fans. Can it be done? :-)
  20. On the flip side, I only started going to games when we had sunk into League One. Granted, I had mild agoraphobia and the big crowds unnerved me in previous seasons, and I had been top one or two games before away, but I enjoyed my time down in the third tier, and I will enjoy myself now (thankfully agoraphobia free, what was I thinking...) as we are on the up. Glory supporters are with every club, but really, if people really wanted to glory support, they'd be Man Utd fans already. More fans = more money to the club, and that's fine with me. I hope we do get back to the Premiership and restore this club to where it belongs, making it even more appealing for new generations of fans.
  21. There's nothing like "letting the football do the talking" eh?!? TBF some of them say they don't hate Saints, they just hate Adkins. I'm not bothered one way or the other. We had to suffer Bompey in League One, and now Brighton in the nPC. Thank God we'll not have any south coast rivals in the Prem, eh?!?
  22. Some people only want to pay to see something good, I guess. IfI want to watch a Shakespearian actor play Hamlet, I pay good money. If Wayne Rooney was performing as Hamlet, I'd be less inclined to go.
  23. I wasn't paying 100% attention when SSN reported that Appleton was their new manager, I thought they'd appointed Michael Atherton in a cricket-football coup, similar to our Clive Woodward appointment. Smacks of "cheap appointment" to me, although seeing the merits of Nigel Adkins, I think appointing a manager who is a good coach is a wise idea. Will it work? Fruck nose.
  24. I always thought we'd end up moving to a stadium with the name "The New Dell", as The Dell was as synonymous a name to SFC as Ted Bates. Sort of akin to The New Den, ours would be the same, with over time "The New Dell" simply becoming "The Dell". I believe the Stoneham site was touted to be The Stoneham Dell, which I assumed would end up becoming The Dell. I'm surprised it never happened, although St Mary's has as much to do with our history as our former stadium's name. (Record for the most mentions of The Dell in one paragraph?)
  25. I'm not a plastic fan, but I'm not a regular fan. I go to the few games I can get to, around 12 a season or so, but I've only managed one game so far this season. That said, if there's a big game on, and I fancy going, I'll book it off especially. As with tickets? It's just a case of booking as soon as possible. If I could get to most/all of our home games, I'd cut my left nut off to have a season ticket. Sigh, if only. There's nothing wrong with plastification, if people want to be armchair fans, that's fine. They'll eventually spend money that will go to the club, be it through merchandise or SaintsPlayer. And as with the growing crowds back in the Premiership? Good. With so much television coverage up there, there's really very little need to attend a lot of games - and filling stadiums out is more impressive. Even our hardcore support in the bowels of League One was good. We have a support some other teams can only crave. Long may that remain.
