  1. Not sure you can really use Downing as an example. Times have moved on from then and Liverpool are somewhat more savvy and/or ess profligate than they were 3 years ago.
  2. Talk****e were saying that Spuds were waiting until after CL Final, which I guess means that they might want Simeone. Not sure how likely that is, but I do love the way that some in the EPL think that they can go in and get who ever they want. A lot of players and managers are shunning EPL for the other big leagues (Germany, Italy Spain).
  3. This. And expanding that, he would have to accept that she is the boss and that he is not sole director of SFC to run it how he wants and unaccountably.
  4. "fan-pandering letters from the new setup" + "continued non-communication in this new "era of transparency"" = oxymoron
  5. Vik What I mean is that it appears that the whole of Saints' progress is hinging on Levy's decision. Call it hysteria, players' comments, press speculation, bookies odds, what ever (and there's so much smoke that I would be surprised if there was no fire at all) the fact remains that we seem to be dancing to Levy's tune. Once Levy makes his mind up with who he wants, then we can proceed. As you point out, Levy has an itchy finger.
  6. What seems to be forgotten is that the fans are customers. Now if my customers were calling out for info and none was forthcoming, they would no doubt say "**** it" and go somewhere else. While we all realise that football works somewhat differently, the same basic principles apply save for the going somewhere else.
  7. Levy is.
  8. Aye, it seems to be one of Levy's little games but the worst of it is that Saints are being made to look Mickey Mouse.
  9. Board in a bit of a sticky position. We all know that MP can kill off the Spurs interest by signing an extension but he has a year left of his contract so has no need to do anything. You can't turn round to him and demand that he signs an extension now or else he is going to be replaced because of the year remaining. He is under contract pure and simple and yes, he holds all the cards. What exactly do people expect the board to do?
  10. ..because that wasn't revealed until after he left.
  11. Sherwood should cut his teeth at Brighton or somewhere like that. Decent sized club, ground, support and close to play offs, so no surprise if they got promoted. Personally would hate him here.
  12. I'm with you Kraken. Winger, you may want him at the club as might others, as might I, but what he (apparently) did in trying to shut out the owner and remain sole director was not acceptable and very foolish.
  13. Don't see what the fuss is about (save for more **** stirring in the press). If we want to have one of the best academies in the world, then there is no room for sentiment, and if people aren't pulling their weight, then best to cut them loose regardless of past associations with the club.
  14. Was that pre or post NC's departure? (rhetorical)
  15. Yes, you're probably right. But the red tops have been quite determined to rip Saints apart, or is that just me being a little sensitive?
  16. I wouldn't really object to the board taking a leaf out of Cortese's book, once everything has been decided, and banning certain journalists/papers from SMS.
  17. I can see Baines starting all of them and Shaw not getting on (although if you had been at SMS when we played Everton you would go the other way).
  18. Didn't Levy make Real pay all upfront for Bale?
  19. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2068344-adam-lallana-and-18-potential-over-priced-summer-transfers Surprised that only AL and Rickie get on, and not LS.
  20. Or maybe someone talking too much to the press off the record?
  21. I think you are being overly disingenuous.
  22. Why? Because it has been going on for so long now, that I am thinking no smoke without fire. I have been weak and must not act like a jealous and suspicious husband.
  23. Of course the media are going to say that. They have no idea what is happening and might end up looking like complete tits if MP stays along with the some/most of the team who they seem to have sold five times over.
  24. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/tottenham/next-permanent-manager Nice comprehensive list. As things stand the best odds you can get (ie longest) seem to be MP - 1/2 (Betfred) FdB - 5/2 (Skybet) RM - 10/1 (Coral) Will be interesting to see how things change.
  25. Even if he does stay, to me it will be like your Mrs having had an affair and coming back because she has been spurned by her lover and being accepted back because of your love for her (and you bribing her). While things might return to normal. underneath it certainly isn't the same.
