Am a bit divided here. Don't like Sunderland particularly nor Man Utd. I am enjoying the turmoil all those glory hunters must be going through this season and a little more would be nice. Can't see Man City being beaten by either of these guys.

Should we rename St Mary's to The Liebherr Arena?
angelman replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Rename one of the stands rather than the stadium For me, it would be Kingsland. -
I feel old as well, having been to watch Saints before she was even born!

Being serious for a second, Chelsea might find it a little tricky signing him if they want to stick to the FFP rules.

Probably caught it on BT sport or some illegal stream like all but the 700 who turned up.

I do love the way that people, who don't know the owner, seem to know what she will be doing in the near future. Who knows, maybe she wants to have a break from the constraints of her somewhat reclusive upbringing and have some fun. Maybe she doesn't want to be considered ML's daughter who took over reluctantly and didn't want to carry on so flogged it off, but rather leave her own mark. Maybe this, maybe that, maybe t'other. Who knows (apart from those who impart their wisdom on the rest of us)?

A lot of it is.... Alan Brazil esp with Neil Warnock is a good listen, H&J are amusing and the SportsBar is a little more serious so you don't get idiotic radio that Durham (and Gough) produce. Then let's not forget you also have that ridiculous Georgie Bingham who is followed up by an even more moronic radio "presenter" (a word I use loosely) in the form of Johnny Vaughan. And the dogger's voice annoys the hell out of me, especially when he is shouting at everyone (which he does most of the time).

CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.

Wanyama - as Cardiff offered more/the same as we did, then maybe it wasn't too much or maybe we both offered too much. But ultimately it's not too much if you are happy paying the price. -

Martin Samuel vs Neil Ashton!!! One actually doesn't have his shoved so far up someone else's butt that he can see what's what and write a proper article. The other is a sycophantic acolyte - a toady of the worst kind who is so obvious about what he does, that I am surprised his employers actually keep him on. -
Good question Bewildered, but in honesty, if he got £7m that would have been a good price. But.....who was the replacement and how far would £7m go? Personally, I am happy (especially as it isn't my money) to not cash in on those who have given excellent service to the club. I think it important that clubs recognise those that have given a lot and try and use them as much as possible, rather than farm them out when they get towards the end of their career.

I do note that he never had anyone either side of him (or never does when I bother to look) -

Owner: I would like to know what is going on in my company Sole director: No. Mind your own business and leave me in peace Owner: It is my business and I will put in place some checks and balances. Sole director: If you do that, I'm off If you read between the lines of the Indy article, NC comes out rather badly. OK, he has done, for the greater part, a fantastic job, but the owner wanting to know a bit more of what is going on in their £150m company and to have some say (or control) over the sole director who they employ, really is not unreasonable. In fact, in any business (except seemingly football) if an owner had no say in their own company, they would be thought of as naive, stupid, open to be taken to the cleaners, etc etc. The article rather suggests that NC forgot his position in life. -
If I was her, I would be more "concerned" about the articles Neil Ashton seems to be continually writing against her and the club.

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official

It is very obvious that MP's hand is a LOT stronger today than it was yesterday, whether he wanted it or not. -
A change from NC/KL/MP et al...... Seems that Kenwyne Jones is once again on strike. Having gone on strike to leave Saints, he seems to have declared himself unavailable for Stoke.

Phil I think the sun has got to you. He was meaning NC to F1 not Bernie coming here. -

The Mail didn't print my post to Ashton's crapacious one sided piece. I did ask whether we were only going to hear the one side (ie NC's & Ashton's) so guess they don't like criticism/truth. The Mail, which then seems to feed the likes of TlkSport, have far too much coverage. -
Why not sell to Cortese? Both parties know each other, so might ease things along and it might be seen as reward for services given both to her father and to the club in recent years. It does seem strange that one of the reasons given for leaving was a disagreement on his cut if the club was to be sold - why walk away from that and get nothing?
-
I think NC should also be recognised in this. MP had backed himself into a corner a little bit (and IMO rather naively as well), and no doubt the meeting last night at SMS was to tell him to consider his future properly.

To be honest, I always thought that NC is/was pretty low profile. It was the press that bigged things up and made him look like some despot. When was the last time you heard from him? Certainly not today (although Neil Ashton's articles might be ascribed to him) and I can't remember when he last made any comment. Maybe it was pre-season explaining the reasons for sacking NA. I can't believe that everyone else at the club want to jump ship before the dust has even settled and they know what KL's plans are. I am sure that she is more than sensible enough to not devalue the club, and if she did, that is her prerogative. I find Ashton's latest piece saying that she has no experience in running a club rather pathetic and one sided, as it seems to ignore the fact that NC didn't either. -

Why anyone didn't think SFC was for sale as soon as ML passed away is a little naive. Why should KL want to carry on with this "folly" of her father's, especially if she has no interest at all in football. I suspect that NC might have been tasked with disposing of SFC while at the same time running it in the best possible manner to increase it's value. While he has succeeded on one front, he hasn't on the other. -
Well at least the 2014 calendar is still relevant.

TlkSport: NC leaving to be replaced by KL, while trying to persuade MP to stay. Frankly I don't care any more. Stories changing the whole time.
