  1. Don't worry about Israel. I am sure FIFA will make sure they don't qualify. But not sure about Jewish players in other teams.
  2. To be honest, I don't really want it here (from a footballing perspective). I always think of the WC as something that happens overseas. Anyway, why are these faceless chins running our game?
  3. Tried taking the kids to school but gave up after 3 miles. Almost didna make it back cos cars abandoned half way up hills. Ridiculous that not even the main roads (A35) has been cleared/treated.
  4. Sadly I don't think anyone would be interested by a south coast club. They never are, although there is the merest amount shown when in the top league but never when outside of it.
  5. Fair does to the Skates in their reaction to the charities not having been paid yet PR, Storrie, agents taking out money. They are in a funny position - they can't stand their owner especially with the bull about paying sub-£2500 creditors out of his pocket, yet they must be grateful that they still have a club. I guess also that the lies to the creditors has begun. No money until at least January! I wonder what the excuse will be in January for delaying it until April etc etc.
  6. The thing is, he has pi**ed off so many people in power that who ever knocks him off will no doubt get away scot free as it wouldn't be in the interests of any government to investigate it. Even if they did, I am sure that they could rustle up some "evidence" that pointed to some foreign government and then I am sure that that foregin government could rustle up some evidence that pointed to someone else. etc etc
  7. I suppose that this latest ballot has nothing to do with a hypocritical Marxist being elected as the new leader of Unite
  8. Aye. I am flying to the States in April and didn't even bother considering BA. Not worth the hassle frankly. Even if they do come to some agreement, I still won't fly BA as no doubt the caterers will have some dispute.
  9. deary me. Easiest way to explain is what the dictionary says: AFFECT –verb (used with object) 1. to act on; produce an effect or change in: Cold weather affected the crops.
  10. It is not a joke that we are seemingly unprepared for snow. Ignore what the media says and look at reality. In most of the country how many days a year are disrupted by snow (ie what we have to deal with it can't cope)? Very, very few down this part of the world. Do you really want Hampshire Council to buy a fleet of 100 snow ploughs at, what, £100k each? OK that might be a bit high as I have no idea how much one costs! So that would be £10 million on ploughs. Let's write that off at £1m per year over a decade. How many days would they be used? Lets say 2 days a year or 20 days a decade etc etc etc. So it's not really economically viable to be fully tooled up - better to suffer those occasional days of snow.
  11. and the fraud squad did do some investigations.
  12. Oh I don't know. I'm sure Fatima has a certain appeal to some. I quite like Ana Ivanovic but sometimes photos of her make her look a bit of a pig.
  13. when is the Football Creditors Rule court case? If (and that might be a big IF) they win, could it have repercussions on Pompey? Retrospective action isn't unheard of, and if this did come to pass would well and truly nail Pompey
  14. http://www.popcrunch.com/the-50-hottest-women-of-sports-1-10/ Found this. Some of the entrants are a bit spurious but......number 16 looks good, along with (my earlier posting of number 3). Must be something about pole vaulters....
  15. Are the PL within their rights to divert parachute payments to creditors to service the CVA? If they are then Poopey might get a shock if they try and renege.
  16. If they were going to go out of business because some Italians had withheld €1m and some Russian wanted £2m paid immediately, then it surely is only a matter of time before they go under (I know that the threat of extinction was bluster but....). Of course the chairman could dip into his pocket, but he seems to be broadcasting to the world that he doesn't want to be there (so the opposite might be true) so am not sure how much he is prepared to lose. And lose is what will happen, I suspect even if they should gain promotion.

  18. I've not needed to make up an imaginary number in the past 20 years, no. As we know, it is impossible to have a square root of a negative number so they had to go and make one up instead. From wiki:
  19. And hassle of driving........BUT, counter to that is the fact you can travel when you like, in peace and not be restricted to going at silly times of the day, and actually get to where you want to go to. Parking - if you are far enough out - free - otherwise £2 an hour if in Fulham. Any further in and you are paying £4 an hour or so. Petrol - at 35mpg say 160 miles return so 4.5 gallons at say £5.40 a gallon = £24.30 Wear & tear - no idea. £5? £10? Car insurance - not applicable as already going to be in place. Tube - I have an Oyster Card but say £6
  20. PS - and yes, it is scary that these laws are in place. If no one has noticed, the powers that be have so much power these days that I really can't see much difference from a totalitarian state (OK an exaggeration as we still have an independent judiciary but....). Things such as Section 5 of the Public Order Act and the Terrorism Act give carte blanche to the police to detain you. The bit of legislation that I think is so far OTT that it is dangerous is to do with the Olympics. Anyone advertising unofficially on the back of it is going to be "done". That includes you and me putting up signs in our front windows - the police will be able to enter and pull them down/arrest you. If that isn't the government in bed with big business, I don't know what is. http://www.bizreport.com/2008/09/2012_olympics_advertising_restrictions_heavy_handed.html# Of course the Government here forgets that we have all paid for it....! (sorry to go off topic)
  21. I suppose it was offensive to some but agree it is OTT. Not sure when we became so sensitive in this country or is it only the immigrants that are so sensitive these days? It seems when the boot is on the other foot and Muslims say that we should burn/be killed/go to hell/be stoned/etc etc then that is acceptable. So it is the inconsistency of the law and the prosecution only of WASPs that p**ses me off. We should have one set of standards that all should be judged by.
  22. Silly question - what is on the other side of the universe and what does the universe fit inside of?
  23. I gave up on maths when I learnt that the square root of -1 was i Never used a complex number in the 20+ years since I last did it.
  24. Quite. I am glad that you differentiate between the army and the government. It isn't the army who chooses where to fight, and I think that people will find that the army were VERY anti-war in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is why Support the Troops started, to draw awareness to the fact that they have no choice. So the Celtic fans are being incredibly stooopid, and as someone pointed out, most of them no doubt voted for Labour who are 100% responsible.
  25. One thing for sure is that the PL are NOT going to investigate or delve into this. All it will do is show them up for being naive idiots. A shame that they don't have ANY cojones and is the way with incompetent people, they ignore things in the hope that it will all disapear.
