  1. You mean she doesn't know?
  2. I agree, although I feel that even a wooden version of his Ted statues would still have looked disproportionate. I'm sure that the club could have recovered a large proportion of the cost by selling gnome-sized versions.
  3. If your mum asked you to get it then you'd better put her name on it. If you're not sure, ring or text your mum for the wording.
  4. Got married. Got a double first at Cambridge. Bought a new house in Fareham (for £6395) Had a son I'm still waiting for something big to happen.
  5. You really know how to splash the cash! I'm really please you both had a good time and it's good to have you back.
  6. It could be a family quarrel?
  7. You could be talking about me!
  8. Confirmed on the BBC site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/middlesbrough/9103816.stm (sort of)
  9. Fromm the Mail today: Apparently on the statue of John Lennon at Liverpool Airport it says 'above us only sky'. Underneath someone has written 'below us only West Ham'

Ghent is also worth a visit. There's the 'bicycle bar': This looks like a useful site: http://mengodrinking.co.uk/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=24&MMN_position=31:5

Either is worth a weekend, and we've done both. I've twice done done Bruges in a day trip, one of them via Enfield when I took my dad. Bruges is a lovely place but there's probably more to do in Brussels. There's the Atomium, Grande Place Mannekin Pis, a comic-strip 'cartoon' museum. Rue des Bouchers is good for the restaurants, there's a good fish one up there.
  13. 'Might squeak promotion' is my current thinking. I reckon we're still short of two or three players.
  14. I park near Bitterne railway station when I'm not going in on the number 1 bus. It's a 26 minute walk from there.
  15. Sorry, I meant that the debate was about whether he had actually landed on the summit. I liked the comment about using diesel engines!
  16. There's some debate about this: http://www.spadout.com/wiki/index.php/Didier_Delsalle_lands_Helicopter_on_Everest http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_maximum_altitude_that_a_helicopter_can_achieve
  17. It's difficult to get exact figures. Even mine was an extrapolation and it all depends how you value the infrastructure projects. Beijing apparently made $16m profit on a specific spend of over $1.6bn. The total spend was over $40bn. http://www.econ.queensu.ca/working_papers/papers/qed_wp_1097.pdf http://www.chinasportsreview.com/2009/03/07/beijing-olympics-made-16-million-profit/
  18. Before my time! Just don't ask me to pay for any of it. We could do with that £20billion now.
  19. The whole thing leaves me cold. We should have let the french lose £20billion over it.
  20. The uncertainty has been removed.
  21. Do the lights dim when she tries to start? If so, the battery may be too weak. Check the earth/chassis strap on the battery, and the other connection whilst you're looking at it. Try to borrow a battery and jump leads and try that. Don't use jump leads from a battery in another car, you could damage its alternator.
  22. I think quite a few did a version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bad_John http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx59fmP7jYE
  23. Too many sails for a warship, IMO.
