  1. So, same again tomorrow, chaps?
  2. How can it have been a fair competition if one club was allowed to receive extra money early? There must be several others who were not so profligate and who could have used advanced payments to strengthen their squad.
  3. That was ok until they started claiming the tax back. I bought a couple of cars there myself, both went on for many years. I remember seeing Dave Webb there a few times. This would have been just after he had managed Bournemouth.
  4. At that time they had not been relegated.
  5. Money which should properly have gone to creditors, especially those who had long-term oustanding claims at the time.
  6. But if they are creditors (or were at the time of the vote) this would mean that they would get 100% and not 20% like everybody else.
  7. But this must be one of the crucial issues in this case. Are the TV/parachute payments 'assets' of the company or not? If they are paid early, or diverted to pay another creditor at a time when a club is in administration or subject to a possible winding-up order, then how does this square with all unsecured creditors being treated equally?
  8. "these kids are not ready" ...now where have I heard that before?
  9. I have to agree. I am not convinced that Cortese has the experience to run a club like ours successfully, notwithstanding his part in bringing Markus to the club and convincing him to buy us.
  10. If he is not present at the court hearing to present his justification for his actions as administrator, then he is seriously failing in his duties in my opinion.
  11. It's quite simple. release him from prison and let everybody know where he's living. The problem would soon be solved. In my opinion he has no rights of any kind. Let's direct our anger at a system that could possibly give him millions in legal aid in order to pursue his case.
  12. Hmmm... I sincerely hope that we don't do anything rash at Christmas. Anything less than 10 points adrift is nothing to get too concerned about. And How many times has a club that's streets ahead at 23 games ended up struggling to make the playoffs?
  13. I believe that the big increase in debt is because of a change in their accounting methods rather than a sudden surge in spending. They do have cash-flow problems though, who doesn't? (apart from Saints )
  14. And quite right too! ... it should be 'sieg heil'
  15. Well they weren't (aren't) really 'Labour' either, were they?
  16. I normally stick on the cruise control and crawl through. I have a theory that they cause long tailbacks just before the roadworks. The problem is that once you get slowed doen you can't make up the gaps again. The average speed through the works is far less than the 50mph specified as a maximum. For those who are interested, there is a concept called 'superflow' which is getting the maximum vehicle flow rate through a traffic lane. I think it's something like 53mph and 25 feet separation, or something like that. Traffic will continue to flow smoothly from 50,000 vehicles per hour per lane until it reaches 80,000 and then the flow gets unstable and the average flow then drops below 50,000 which is why you get those 'waves' of stop-start traffic. The ideal is to keep the flow just below instability which is why you sometimes have traffic lights at the entry lanes to motorways.
  17. I have a projector but it is only standard 8, not Super 8. I have a load of old family movies from the early 60s that I once got converted to vhs by Parkers at Woolston. Then later I got them to put it on dvd for me. It cost me a fortune but now all the family have copies.
  18. Absolutely, even though it is unbelievable at the time, all wives end up like their mothers.
  19. If a big bank goes bust, we all go bust. Don't panic, we bought a very big bank for a very low price.
  20. Hawkeye is certainly not infallible: http://www.theroar.com.au/2008/01/24/nine-admits-hawk-eye-not-foolproof/ Anything based on trying to observe a blur from tv cameras over 50 metres away is only ever going to give an approximate estimation of the ball's trajectory. With a hard ball like the one used in cricket there is probably less scope for aerial deviation but a football can move all over the place depending on gust of wind, temperature, spin, and hardness of the pitch. Besides, this was developed at Roke Manor and I wouldn't place blind trust in anything that came out of there.
  21. Yup, Kingsland row O centre-line. Don't worry about swapping. I'll just turn up early and put itching powder on it.
  22. Minus a handling fee, of course...
  23. We had great fun on the Amstel Brewery tour which was free including as much beer as you could take (there was also Heineken). Mind you, this was 1969.
