I think it's fair to say that at the end of last season most of us went off on our summer hols with the feeling that we had turned a corner and were on the way up at last. Then you-know-who comes back and grabs the wheel and insists that he knows a better path to salvation. As most of us knew at the time, this crazy experiment had no chance of success and was doomed from the outset, yet through blind obstinacy we have continued up the wrong path for too long and now it's probably too late for us to be saved. It's quite clear to me that the man who makes the big decisions is the one who must shoulder the blame, and not for the first time. With his track-record I wouldn't want him anywhere near any enterprise that I owned.
