  1. I remember the winter of ‘63. At my school we played hockey, football and cricket in the three terms. In the middle term we didn’t play any football at all and there were piles of ice on the pavements and by the road. We lived near Harwich and large areas of the sea froze. It was a bit different when we moved to Enfield and our temporary classrooms were so cold that the ink froze in the inkwells.
  2. Of couse He does. If He has a problem he calls on me
  3. The winds will have dropped significantly by 20:00 this evening.
  4. Just as long as we have a good chance of winning.
  5. I bought my tickets on Monday and I had another email this morning offering me extra tickets should I want them
  6. Yes we could. It’s a matter of market price sensitivity.

    Democracy’s a bugger, isn’t it.
  8. Tru dat. Neither my wife nor I can ever remember our schools being closed on account of the weather. Can I ask any other members who grew up in the fifties and sixties if their experience is the same? And yes, I know that it’s a different world today but none of us ever got taken to school by car.
  9. Indeed
  10. It’s usually the difference between wind speed and the speed of the gusts.

  12. Manchester United have been charged over their conduct. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60408906
  13. Thornden school is closed tomorrow. Any excuse.
  14. I remember Leeds doing something under Revie. If the other team was having a good spell then someone would go down 'injured' in order to give themselves a breathing space.
  15. Around 1.4 million for Hampshire alone.
  16. Whatever, it's still VAR re-refereeing the game and it undermines the onfield referee.
  17. Karma has a habit of biting you in the arse.
  18. For £5m I’d consider either. Maybe both.
  19. So she got what she wanted. Then and now. Allegedly.
  20. That can’t be right. I know for a fact that there are two of us going. Probably.

When that thing went up I was flying back from Denmark in a single engined aircraft at 10,000 feet. Apparently we went straight through the cloud. Oops.
  22. A team that is safe will often take the opportunity to give some experience to their less experienced players. Although prize money for places nowadays can make this less common.
  23. It’s an Americanism though and therefore to be deprecated. It might mean something significant if all the teams played each other on the same day/days.
  24. It depends on the country. Some see it as bad manners if one team desperately needs the points and the other doesn’t.
