And Bednarek is the first player to score an own goal, concede a penalty and get sent off in the same match.

The table doesn’t lie.

It’s unusual to get 100% agreement amongst the commentators and media about an incident but without exception everybody agrees that it was a dive and should never have been a penalty. Is there anyone who thinks otherwise?

Mike Dean - Can anyone remember him giving us a 50/50 decision ?

He has issued the most red cards of any referee. The question is not so much how many he himself has awarded to Man Utd but how he compares with other referees and how many penalties they have awarded to them. -
He blew for a penalty, probably before Martial hit the ground. The issue apparently was what colour card it should be. Every commentator thought that going to the monitor would mean the penalty being rescinded.

It’s a three dimensional scene projected onto a flat surface. The lines are supposed to show the three axes but there is of course an error with the accuracy of their alignment. The operator can move them from one point on one player and compare them to another. There has to be at least 10 to 20cm margin of error yet the decision is taken as definitive. And all this is viewed from an obtuse angle. Only VAR thought it might be offside at the time. Against Villa the assistant had raised his flag and you could perhaps understand VAR not overruling him. Last night the assistant didn’t raise his flag yet VAR overruled him again. One law for the rich...

By lunchtime the day before I believe.

It seems only a few days ago that we beat Liverpool. This run of two games a week has crippled us and once we get our first team back we shall be ok.
-
Bertrand’s wasn’t a foul but apart from that, there’s no place for personal abuse.
-
According to the Sun it was only to decide the colour of the card. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13935592/man-utd-southampton-var-mike-dean/

Have we been unlucky with ref/VAR decisions in the previous 4 games.

Indeed. And to describe that as a ricochet is stretching things. It would have hit his hand even if it hadn’t brushed his thigh. -

You’d be surprised. -
We’ll all get there eventually but I was not just whinging. When your time does come it’s best to be prepared. There’s the simple thing of getting the colour contrast on the texts right. What it needs is to take all the personal and contact details at the beginning so that when you do get to ‘confirm’ you can click it prompts. Otherwise they’ve sold your choice to someone else and you have to go down the snake and back to the beginning. My first dose is next Wednesday and the second is 11 weeks and 3 days later.

No, I’m afraid that is indicating advantage. It’s also a case of ‘look at me’ but most referees are pleased if they give advantage and it leads to a goal. -
Does the 19 include the foul on Cavani that was overruled?
-
Yellow cards cannot be reviewed after the match. There is ‘bringing the game into disrepute’ but that is separate and more serious.
-
True, but that only applies only if a penalty is awarded since a goal scoring opportunity still exists. Making the TV sign is supposed to mean that a decision has been changed as a result of the review.

One more thing. You can go into the NHS site again if you know your booking reference but you cannot amend your bookings, you can only cancel them and go round the block one more time.
-
We had our NHS letters today and I think we have appointments for both our doses but the online booking system is a pile of dogshit. You choose your locations and date and time by put by the time you get to the ‘confirm’ page the appointments are no longer available so you have to go back to the start and enter it all again and by the time you get to ‘confirm’ the appointments are no longer available and... I have received over a dozen text messages confirming my appointments followed by one saying that they’re cancelled. There is a web page which talks about reference numbers but the are blue text on a blue background and you wouldn’t see them if you didn’t know they were there. My wife got as far as the ‘confirm’ page but mistyped her contact details so didn’t confirm the booking but when she went back to the start it asked for booking references which she hadn’t been given yet so she was stuck in a lockout loop. In the end we rang the 119 number and got put through to a young lady working from home on a bad phone line. That was painful but eventually we got there. It turned out that we did have bookings but no way of knowing what they were. I have received five emails. The first two tell me that my second appointment has been cancelled. The third tells me my dates. The next two tell me that my second appointment has been cancelled. None of the four cancellation emails state the details of the appointment that it thinks has been cancelled. Itis one of the most amateurish systems it has ever been my misfortune to meet.

He will be on Sunday.

The commentator said something about that but Martial was right in the middle of the goal area and it was an obvious goal scoring opportunity. All very strange. Why suggest that he went to the monitor?
