Holidays are but a small part of the reasons for travelling. As an island nation everything has to go in and out by plane or boat.

I cannot be sad when a 99 year old passes on but I feel sympathy for Her Majesty who has lost her lifelong partner as I would for anyone else in a similar situation. Death follows life as inevitably as night follows day and we can hardly say that he left was taken before his time.

And how does that compare with previous years?

This is the point. The television view is not accurate enough to make such hairline decisions. The timing of the pass is never questioned and those lines last night didn’t look truly at right angles to me. I know there’s perspective but I think they favoured the defender. If there is the slightest doubt they should butt out.

I wouldn’t call it a con or scam but there must be ulterior motives at play here. Maybe a reluctance to relinquish control, maybe a diversionary tactic to hide deeper problems, whatever the reasons they ought to have the full support of the people. Lives have been put on hold, businesses have been scuppered, lifetimes of work have been binned, there’s no justification for prolonging it.

Interesting, but doesn’t take into account the net effect of these decisions in terms of points won or lost during the games.

I must declare a personal interest here and say that I have no chance of being part of any sex parties in the rest of my lifetime. Just as long as I’m not prevented from doing what I want to do and hanging around waiting for the loopies to slobber over each other.

To make myself clear, I was referring to the inaction of the referee as disgraceful. The player is just a twat.

Yes it is. These players are role models for the youngsters and they set a bad example to them. Trying to referee on a Sunday morning is bad enough as it is. It's bad enou h with all the swearing that they see on TV anyway. "Well Wayne Rooney does it" Kicking the ball away to delay the restart of the game is a booking. No argument.

The lack of action by the referee was disgraceful.

It was just before the final whistle but that's no excuse. That was disgraceful.

We get those days too but normally the goals go in against us. :0

Defenders will take hold of an opponent’s shirt so that they can detect which way he’s moving whilst they are watching a cross coming in. It’s all a question of degree. Players will jostle and nudge each other all the time in an effort to disrupt the other’s balance and timing but barge them off their feet and it’s likely to be a foul. That said, Bednarek took it a bit too far yesterday and could have been punished for it. We have not been shown all the other instances of shirt holding that went on in that game but there will have been many. Moss had already ‘overruled’ Marriner for the first penalty and we don’t know what conversations took place at half time between the five officials. It’s perfectly possible that Moss drew Marriner’s attention to the shirt pull but that Marriner had taken into account other actions by Woods during that move. Marriner’s no fool.

That and all the flinging themselves to the ground screaming in agony.
