  1. I was just thinking earlier that £20 million seemed to be an average going rate for an upper-half Premier League player nowadays. £11m might be a good deal.
  2. Cameron was the wrong person for the job.
  3. Very well put. I think that a large part of the Leave vote was from people who live in communities that aren't involve in Europe in any form, feel poor and disadvantaged and can only see European economic migrants amongst themselves as taking their jobs and public services. They don't realise that these same services are partly paid for by the tax contributions of those who are closely involved in European trade.
  4. We don't actually have a negotiating team any more. We haven't need one for forty years or so.
  5. Interesting read, especially the bits about a narrow vote either way. I'd settle for associate membership and I'd like to keep the EU flag on my driving licence and number plate and passport. Does the result mean that he's going to lose his job as an MEP whatever happens?
  6. What a beautiful goal. When you try to explain to people why it's called the beautiful game then just show them that goal.
  7. I saw it compared to Dunkirk in today's Times. (Sorry, can't be arsed to look it up)
  8. If only Ali had had the chance to benefit from a couple of seasons of the famous 'Southampton Way' who knows what he might have achieved?
  9. Wall Street Journal but not an American perspective: Mr. Nelson is the editor of the Spectator and a columnist for the Daily Telegraph. Thanks for the link, by the way:)
  10. Nah, they're way below that.
  11. The Mané of today or the Mané that first arrived?
  12. No, please. Please, no.
  13. Is it too much to hope for both?
  14. Because if you don't quote a source then other forum members might think that the words you post are your own views and opinions and are your own personal contribution.
  15. Much of it is paid through representative companies in the form of 'image rights' and all sorts of tax dodges.
  16. And the French were our allies in Crimea. It was French Cavalry who protected the left flank of the Light Brigade and covered their retreat.
  17. That's another Facebook quote, Batman. Please either acknowledge your sources or write something original.
  18. I'm digressing a bit (as usual) but the ferry company's income used to be 1/3 fares 1/3 freight and 1/3 duty free. With the current political set-up of predominantly pro-EU MPs I cannot see us ever settling for less than Single Market access and all that entails including free movement of labour.
  19. NI is often overlooked. Payroll Tax I call it.
  20. I'm looking forward to it. But who do I support? Those plucky loyal Northern Irish or the traitorous secessionist Welsh? Tough choice.
  21. That will be debated for some time. There were some comments about the timing coming at a bad time for those in education what with exams and stuff. Personally I'm all for compulsory voting. Shall we take a vote on it?
  22. Because it isn't democratic. Discuss:
  23. Be my guest: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/it-will-take-an-age-to-recover-from-this-victory-for-the-exit-fantasists-zzfpxsc66
  24. Yes it is an awful place to live. Overcrowded (You should know about that but at least you can get out the country easily). Poor-quality infrastructure, high housing costs, high taxation, high cost of living. Ireland on the other hand... France even.
  25. I don't recall any saying that.
