Yes, it may appear a bit esoteric. There are a number of reasons why not all the seats are sold, some of which have been listed above. There comes a point near the date of the match when there are a lot of single seats left. These are difficult to sell. Suppose there are a couple of thousand unsold tickets on match day morning, who is going to travel to the ground in the hope of getting one? This is a problem with all-seater ticket-only games, you can't just cram the last few thousand in at the back.

It all depends where the money comes from. In the case of central banks, BofE etc, they get it by printing money. This just causes inflation which devalues savings. Effectively it's stealing money from people's life-savings in order to pay off national debt, or give to undeserving causes.

We're not selling out because it's full. With all-seater ticketed stadiums there will never be queues of people locked outside once the stadium's full. Er... much the same as it does now? To be honest I don't think the people counting the takings care too much about the atmosphere anyway.

That's determined by the person or business that's paying for them. £3k per seat is perhaps 5 to 7 years of season ticket price as an illustration. Might even be worth doing to offset windfall profits from unplanned player sales, but I'll leave that to the accountants.

My feeling is that another 8,000 to 10,000 seats would make business sense if they could be installed at an acceptable price.
