  1. Great car. You could see a winding road ahead, close your eyes, and drive through every bend just by the feel of it. The roads in his country are too busy to get the most out of one but some of the empty winding ones in France were magic. I've got a Mercedes now. It's an old man's car.
  2. Time goes back in those bits. Some films I have to watch if they're on and I've started watching them: The Longest Day The Day of the Jackal (the real one, not the crap remake) The Cruel Sea Zulu
  3. You never know who the donor was. (DameEdna)
  4. 'No Brits involved' refers back to a comedy sketch (on Not the Nine o'clock News?) in which a newsreader relates several tragedies worldwide and end every report with this phrase. The inference is that a tragedy does not affect us unless one of 'us' is involved. I'll see if I can dig up the reference.
  5. As Orville used to say: "they're all laughing at me".
  6. I don't think it was scheduled to be a minute. The phrase used was 'a period of silence'. Not too difficult, I would have thought, but some people have no respect. 233 is a lot of people but, 'no Brits involved'.
  7. The 233 or more who died in the night club in Brazil, amongst others.
  8. All one-footed, it would seem.
  9. Sickening.
  10. Yes, both were ball-watching.
  11. Well, I guess it's their club and they can have any rules they like. There's nothing to stop anybody having different criteria. Are you visiting the grounds or the clubs?
  12. Exactly. It seems to be all about the grounds and not the clubs, in which case why should it matter if you only watch a reserve team playing?
  13. It wasn't real growth, it was all fuelled by excessive borrowing.
  14. Quite right. He deserves our sympathy and understanding, not ridicule.
  15. Sign him up!
  16. Most of them know a venomous snake when you put it in front of them.
  17. Do you mean it's not real??? http://www.blackadder-history.com/the.blackadder.history.htm
  18. First- team game, I believe. I've been to quite a few grounds but the buggers keep pulling them down and building new ones.
  19. I don't know that, but I do know that the accepted site of the battle is a mile or two out. I shall be watching avidly.
  20. Bloody hell. In my day it didn't cost anything. Still, you get the quality of referee that you pay for.
  21. It could have been written about me
  22. Thanks, I'll watch it later.
