  1. We parked in the Sports Centre in Dorian Rd BS7 0XW (just off main A38.) last time. About a 10 minute walk IIRC and a quick getaway after the game.
  2. Coz you haven't paid your fiver.
  3. Surely that's a song for the Skates new owner?
  4. He is held in very high esteem at Grimsby for what he achieved there before he moved to the Dell.
  5. Yes, Myler was suffering from concussion so he's not being risked. Eastmond was class when he came on, Surprised to see him playing full-back but looked like he was natural. The punishment for the French is a difficult one because it is only a 3 match tournament. In an ideal world they would both be given 2 match bans and would play no further part but that would mean that the French would be very much weakened against the Kiwis and the Aussies, which is unfair on England because we played them at full-strength (bar, as you say a couple of minutes). It wonder what the punishments would have been if those players were from England or the antipodes, where the squads and strength in depth much greater?
  6. After the somewhat patchy performance versus the French, England have made changes for this Saturday's game against the Kangaroos at Wigan. S Briscoe (Hull KR); T Briscoe (Hull), Smith (Leeds), Shenton (Castleford), Hall (Leeds); McGuire (Leeds), Tomkins (Wigan); Morley (Warrington), Roby (St Helens), Graham (St Helens), Ellis (Wests Tigers), Peac_ock (Leeds, captain), Sinfield (Leeds) Replacements: Burgess (Bradford), Crabtree (Huddersfield), Eastmond (St Helens), Westwood (Warrington). Tomkins coming in for Myler; Roby starting in place of Moore, who drops out of the 17; Graham starting with Burgess moving to the bench and Crabtree taking the other replacement spot.
  7. Or Perry Groves.....
  8. Sounds like this forum, earlier in the season. Weren't Charlton supposed to beat us by 5 or 6? Reverse psychology I would suggest.
  9. Mellis was excellent in the Gillingham game and because the team has been winning, while he was away on England U19 duty (where by all accounts he also played very well and score in all 3 games), he's been left out of the last 2. If Hammond doesn't make it, then I'd have no hesitation of putting Mellis in the team.
  10. I don't think that "assistant" managers and coaching staff had that much influence back then. The manager was the chief coach, the team manager and the director of football all rolled into one.
  11. Unfortunate turn of phrase.
  12. You have to remember that Bates appearances as a player were all in the second and third tiers of English football. Our memories are clouded by his achievements long after he hung up his boots.
  13. Paul Duffen has resigned as Chairman of Hull City. Taking total responsibility for the results in 2009. Not many Chairmen around the country would do the honourable thin and fall on his sword. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5658925,00.html
  14. According to Solent Twitter feed. "Hammond rated 50/50, Connolly also a doubt (thigh)."
  15. http://www.sportgrimsby.co.uk/grimsbytown/Boss-praises-midfielder/article-1461732-detail/article.html? Looks like he's impressing Sutton. Interesting comment "It has provided us with a very good opportunity for us to take a look at him." With a bit of luck it will become permanent.
  16. Didn't realise that Chamberlain was still with them (or was). Seems strange that his nipper is on our books, that being the case.
  17. You don't think 2600 fans for an away game in the 3rd Division is not great support?
  18. If he can serve beer then he would be priceless because that would be a first for St Mary's.
  19. There are a few idiots who kick off at the derby games but most of it is banter and bragging rights. As a FC fan living in Rovers territory, it's quite good fun actually. My Saints shirt is the only red and white garment allowed in the house Must say though, people in Hull don't like Leeds either. Football or Rugby teams and fans.
  20. Bumpkins!
  21. There is 50 places to fill. If we all put in our favourites, we could probably come up with 250. There are some in the list I don't agree with but most I do. On the subject of Bobby Stokes, he obviously scored the cup final goal but he wasn't a great player (much the same as Ipswich coming up with a list without Roger Osbourne). He would be ahead of the likes of Hugh Fisher in my list but not necessarily in my top 50.
  22. I guess it must mean his sister?
  23. No, it says in the article this is replacing it.
  24. Old skool English cricketers thought it was bad luck to have there feet on the ground when the score was 111, 222 or 333. A bit like kids not wanting to tread on the cracks between paving slabs. Superstition is a very strange thing but I suppose most people have some sort of idiosyncrasy that they think is either good or bud luck.
