  1. Can he get us World Cup tickets?
  2. Point taken and I'd better iterate that it was Peter Crouch I was talking about!
  3. It didn't even register on the tv highlights so I can't see we've anything to worry about.
  4. The guy is a serial offender and a serial scumbag, therefore unless we've got a bog cleaner and sanitary towel bin scrubber's job going, then no he shouldn't be employed by Saints.
  5. The slightly more extended highlights are up on the BBC and Sky Saints pages. Lallana's miss was quite bad but his first time pull-back for Lambert's first goal was class.
  6. Although I think we should show caution over signing Antonio, especially on an bloated fee. We can also not put our hopes on a young up and coming player, who has shown glimpses but has had a major injury. Who know's, he may never recover "fully" from this injury and if he does, he may never have the pace he had beforehand.
  7. Well, if he has, I'd rather have a lucky manager than an unlucky one!
  8. Saga's a different kind of striker (smaller, nippier) but I wouldn't put RL above Crouch.
  9. You forgot Burnley and Stoke.
  10. Well, not quite in the league of an Alan Ball or a Kevin Keegan but I think I know what you mean.
  11. Completely different players, which makes the substitution such a powerful switch. I'd keep it as it is with Papa starting and Antonio replacing him with 20/30 minutes to go.
  12. I disagree with Doddsy looking shaky. He looked a natural from the time he came in and I could never get why Kenna was picked ahead of him. James would be an okay player if he had a bit of pace but I can't say I have ever seen a slower player in a Saints' shirt in all the 40 years I've been following them. Doddsy could probably beat him in a sprint even now.
  13. I agree but he'll do for me, right now.
  14. I've only seen him against MK and he looked a world beater. I would suggest somewhere between the two, nearer your description than mine, is closer to the truth. I agree with your playing for a contract line and said something similar on the other Antonio thread. Extend the loan till the end of the season and then make a decision. If what the Reading representative has said about League 1 being his level, is correct, then he may not be any good for us going forward. If however, he continues to improve and impresses AP over a longer period, then maybe he will be able to make the step up and earn a contract.
  15. I think we need to treat this with a little more caution. How many players have we seen on a short-term loan, look the business only for them to turn out to be average or poor. I'm for extending the loan to the end of the season, in order to have a proper look at him and then make a decision if a permanent signing is a right for us.
  16. Good post. My biggest gripe about the poppy shirt auction was that for the vast majority of fans, they don't have a couple of hundred pounds lying around spare, even if it is for as worthy a cause as the poppy appeal.
  17. What yer man said.....
  18. Have to say, after a complete mauling in the first thirty-odd minutes, England came back and were fantastic in the second half. Sam Tomkins, Eorl Crabtree, Gareth Ellis, Sam Burgess and Kyle Eastmond were pronominal. Unfortunately their task was just too much after the first half performance of the Kangaroos (particularly Inglis and Slater). Play like that next week and I don't think they have too much to fear from the Kiwis.
  19. I think most go to watch the last few minutes on the monitors in the concourse. I don't think you can do that at Brisbane Rd.
  20. Yes, well, MK Dons management thought they matched us and deserved something out of the game last week. :^o
  21. TBH I thought the poppy shirt thing was a little tacky. Much better what they're doing this year.
  22. TBF I would have thought it was more the job of the PFA to make sure their members are looked after in retirement. Not to be too disparaging to Kevin Moore but he was something of a journeyman footballer, who is more attached to Grimsby Town, than Southampton. I know he is suffering from illness now but the club (any club) can't look after all of its ex players. The likes of Ron Davies is different, he was a club legend.
  23. Yes but if it's going to cost the club £15,000 in the first place, in the recessionary times we are experiencing this would probably end up losing money rather than raising it. What the club is doing is allowing servicemen to raise money for their fallen comrades by buying a ticket for the game (at better than half price) and in return they have to endure a derby match, which at least this season shouldn't be too much of a chore. Hopefully there will be a bucket collection running in tandem to allow the rest of us to participate.
  24. 25. Channon is the correct decision for me, with MLT a close second.
