Isgrove having a really good game. Has switched to the left at HT and causing real problems for the Barnsley defence.

Half time thoughts from Oakwell... A poor half of football which sees us deservedly leading. Not much to cheer or get excited about so far. Kelvin not had anything to do so far. Fonte his usual composed self but Yoshi must still be jetlagged. He looked half asleep for the first 20 mins or so and got caught napping 2 or 3 times. Clyne looks sharp and eager to get forward which will benefit us when he returns to the PL team. Isgrove has made a nuisance of himself down the right but looks very lightweight. Cork and Davis doing well in the middle but Ramirez really not got into the game playing on the left. A few nice touches but he still gets bundled off it far too easily - it's as if he expects to get fouled and just waits for it. Ballooned the one shooting chance he got. Jay Rod and Mayuka both full of running up front but not had any decent service yet. Prob should have had a penalty when Isgrove went down in the box but Davis was on hand to rifle in the loose ball - really good finish.

Oh yeah, I know it. I briefly had a job in Tankersley a few years ago where everybody else in the office was from Barnsley. I've lived in Sheffield for the best part of ten years now, but I still have my southern accent (of sorts) and I now know what it is like to be the victim of racial discrimination!

They tend to direct all away supporters to the bar at the Metrodome leisure centre just up the hill from Oakwell. Barnsley is a very strange, insular little place where outside folk aren't really welcome. So much so that they even consider people from Sheffield as southerners!

You mean apart from him being a clone of Picard and needing his blood/DNA to prevent his premature and imminent death?

Does anybody know where I can get video highlights for games this season? It seems Yahoo no longer have the rights to show them as they did last year (though their video quality was really poor anyway) and I can't find anything anywhere else. I heard a rumour that BBC Sport website would be showing video highlights of each match this season, as they used to do when we were in the Championship, but that hasn't materialised. It seems that they still won't allow you to watch MOTD on iplayer either - although underneath it in the schedule it just says 'coming soon' instead of 'not available'.

Tim was a character that Pegg himself wrote. Given his very public admissions of sci-fi nerdness in the past, I think it is fair to assume that Tim's opinions were very much those of his creator. Pegg has sold out. I wonder just how defensive he would be about the two Abrams films had he not been paid handsomely to appear in them?
-
There was an ongoing theme in Spaced about Pegg's character Tim holding anger towards George Lucas for 'selling out' with The Phantom Menace, which led to him getting sacked from his job at the comic store for shouting abuse at a young kid who had come in wanting to buy a Jar-Jar Binks toy. His entire argument seemed to be that Lucas had totally ignored the apparent wishes of the die-hard fans of the original trilogy and made a film that was solely intended to make huge amounts of money at the box office. And now, fast-forward to 2013. The very same man is defending a sci-fi film he has appeared in based purely on the box-office takings, and issued a foul-mouthed insult to the die-hard fans of the franchise whose affinity for it made it possible for Abrams to make this blockbuster in the first place. Shame on you Simon. I used to have a lot of respect for you and your comedy writing, but the hypocrisy you have shown in this instance is quite unforgivable.

People who get to the top/bottom of an escalator and just stand there deciding where to go. What the f**k do they expect the people behind them on the escalator to do? Keep stepping backwards until they make their f**king minds up?

OOooh you little tease. You said don't expect sinclair only a couple of days ago. However, the release of JP to Palace would seem to make sense if we are bringing someone else in.

Puncheon to Palace - Official (Season Loan)

I don't doubt he was effective last season (at times anyway - he put in a few half-hearted performances as well as I remember) but he didn't even make the bench on saturday against WBA. This suggests to me that either we already have a new winger lined up, or there are non-footballing reasons behind this decision which, given his previous, isn't outside the realms of possibility. -
Nicholas Lyndhurst says Only Fools & Horses would never be made today

But this also discredits your argument. I went to see this film the other week and while it was certainly amusing, it was not a patch on the earlier big-screen efforts from Pegg, Wright & Frost. Spaced remains one of my all-time favourite comedy series, but if they tried to revive it now (which will thankfully never happen because Simon Pegg and Jessica Hines have fallen out big-time) it would inevitably be a mere shadow of how good it was. Of all your other examples, the only one that (to my mind anyway) is still as funny as it ever was is Peep Show. -
What's wrong with that? He's right. For the most part during that spell we did play some good stuff. It was individual errors that cost us rather than overall poor team performance.

I take your point about Maya, but I think playing alongside somebody of the quality of Lovren will boost his game, in the same way that Lundekvam became a better player when he had Killer as his CB partner.

Living in Yorkshire I never get to home games these days, so I don't have an account nor will I be able to buy a ticket if they are prioritised (which I assume they won't be for an early-round league cup game against lower-league opposition) Does anybody know if it will be possible for me to buy a ticket on the night for the away end? I can't find anything on the OS about it.

Would be interesting to hear what the rest of the squad think about his signing. Have any of them tweeted anything about it? I don't use twitter myself so I don't know.
-
No it wasn't. The game was, overall, lacking in clear goalscoring chances from both teams, but it wasn't a scrappy, untidy game by any means.
-
Which is a big poke in the eye to all those who said he needed a full pre-season to start showing his potential. He looks to have worked on his set-piece delivery at least - the one corner he put in today was decent.
-
I'm not saying he had a bad game. Far from it, he looked better than he did for long periods last season and we kept a clean sheet so our CBs obviously both did their jobs. I just think that Maya is the better option and should reclaim his place, that's all.
-
Not sure about that. He looked the one most likely to slip up and leave an opening for WBA today I thought. A few hacked clearances put us back under pressure and I reckon Yoshida should be first choice alongside Lovren based on his form towards the end of last season.
