Watched Blood Diamond lastnight Normally I can't stand Leonardo Di Caprio. He has the most punchable face on earth and he completely ruined The Beach (although that's not really his fault, more the fault of the director for casting him in the first place) IMO. However, I actually thought he was brilliant in this film as a callous, immoral diamond smuggler. The film shows the horrors of the civil war in Sierra Leone, where children were plucked from their villages by the RUF and forced to fight - all funded by the illegal export of diamonds mined in the area. It's a fast-paced film with really good chemistry between the main characters. Very well scripted and Leo's Zimbabwean accent is spot-on and totally convincing. It's a little bit cheesy in a handful of places, but as Hollywood films go it has a lot of depth and is very engaging. 8/10

To be fair, we've been needing to do that since the mid 80s! Given that our track record against Watford over the last few years has been shocking, ordinarily I would take that result. But I don't think it will be enough in the long run. We need wins, and to get only a point from two games against lower opposition in the space of 3 days is not enough.

I didn't see the Panorama program lastnight as I had already watched something on BBC2 about refugees escaping from North Korea, and the C4 Dispatches program about the war in afghanistan, I had had my fill of asian troubles for the night. You're assuming that useage of drugs would increase dramatically if they were suddenly made legal, but there is no evidence to suggest that would be the case. Indeed, when cannabis was de-classified, useage actually went down instead of up.

In all honesty, it doesn't matter a toss what the other teams do now. They could all lose their remaining games 10-0 and we still wouldn't get above them. 3-1 down at home to the worst team in the division, with so much riding on today's game as well. If the players can't motivate themselves for this one they don't deserve to be playing in the CCC. Simple as that.

Absolutely. I went to Silverstone in 2004 and all the british fans were wearing BAR Honda caps and cheering wildly for Jenson as he actually had a half decent car under him that season and looked like he might get a result. I then went in 2007 (Hamilton's first season) and I was so angry when they did a run-through of the drivers on the giant screens. When Hamilton came up there was a massive roar from the crowd (who this time were all wearing Maclaren caps and shirts) and when it showed Jenson he hardly even got a ripple of applause. I was utterly ashamed, but not in the least surprised by this sickening dislpay of fickleness. FWIW I was happy for Hamilton because it was good to see a brit winning the title, but I will be grinning from ear to ear if Button beats him this season.

Funny you should say that cos I don't like Frankie Boyle on MTW, he resorts far too easily to saying something deliberatley controversial rather than actually funny, but I quite enjoyed his standup show that I saw on DVD not so long ago. Back on topic. I think MM is a very funny chap and his standup show is certainly a lot funnier than his slot on MTW (his routine about having a baby son that can only say 'no 'jeeeeeews' is hilarious IMO). My GF wants to book tickets to see him at Sheffield Arena in October and I may just be tempted to go with her.

Yeah, although Villeneuve should actually thank him for that because if he hadn't collided with Schumi he would have been off the track and into the gravel trap!

Despite everything that Schumi went on to achieve after that, I have still never forgiven him for it. His official resonse to the incident was "I did not See him", yet the video replay clearly shows him turn his head and look at Hill before turning into him. That just proved what a dirty cheater he was and tarnished his image forever. The record books show that he is the most successful driver of all time, but in my eyes he is just the dirtiest.

Can't argue with a single word he has said. And it isn't often you will hear me say that about a politician! Brown gives off the aura of a man who is so hopelessly out of his depth in his job that it simply beggars belief. As Hannan rightly points out, it was Browns over-spending and ridiculous borrowing during the boom years that has put our country in the position it is now in, yet he is utterly incapable of accepting that maybe, just maybe, his policies weren't so good during that time. He continously spouts on about how this Labour government 'turned around' the economy of this country, but I seem to remember that it was actually pretty damn healthy when they inherited it from the Tories in 1997. The boom years, it would appear, were despite Blair and Brown, not because of them.

Actually I lost my dad when I was six, so I am speaking from experience. I got over it - in fact I was too young at the time to understand so it didn't really affect me as much as it might have had it happened let's say in my teens.

While I agree it is very sad that two young children have lost their mother (they will get over it I'm sure) I am now very glad that I will be able to go into a newsagents and not see her face plastered across the front pages of every newspaper and magazine on display. The woman meant nothing to me. She was an untalented, bigoted, attention-seeking gob****e with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. She was the epitome of everything that is wrong with this country and will be long forgotten by the celebrity-obsessed masses who idolised her in no time at all, such is the fickle nature of the media in this country. I'm sorry if this offends anybody. I'm not celebrating her death, and I'm not saying she deserved to die. She was a nobody who (god only knows how) became a somebody, whom I never met and will not mourn the passing of.

Total agreement from me. His brilliant drive in Hungary in 2006 to win from 12th (I think) showed what a talent he has. I've always liked Jenson and I was so annoyed (though not at all surprised) at the fickle nature of the british fans when I went to Silverstone in 2007. When the drivers did their parade, Hamilton got a massive roar from the crowd but Jenson, who had been the darling of the british fans for a few years prior to the arrival of this little upstart, barely got a whimper. I will be smiling from ear to ear if he beats Hamilton in the WDC this season. He has always been one of the best drivers on the grid ever since he entered the series. Now it looks as though he finally has the hardware to really shine and he thoroughly deserves it.
