  1. I wouldn't take it out on him, it's not his fault that Monaco pulled our pants down over his transfer, direct your fire at the people at SFC who put us in the position to get our pants pulled down in the first place. IMO Carillo looks OK, not a world beater but with some decent support and a regular strike partner (not going to happen with the current manager I'll admit) he'd be OK. Shame Gallagher is out on loan though as he could have filled the Carillo role in the first place, another cock up from those incharge.
  2. Just numb to it now, he's going nowhere and we are beyond boring. Flip a coin, it's going to the wire this season.
  3. It's not nonsense when your 1 striker is Long, that cuts off lots of goals. Austin could have carried the burden but was ignored for around 1/3 of the season. 1 up front only works with the right player. We were throttled for a large part of the season by the manager refusing to budge from his 1 up front policy.
  4. We're a mid table outfit and had we had a manager that was willing to play 2 up front and generally show a bit more imagination and attacking flair (play Boufal a lot more for example) that's where we'd be. 1 up front has throttled us and when the 1 up front wasn't even Austin - our 1 and only goal threat - heads dropped as the team played with no end product. If we go down it has to go down as one of the biggest acts of self harm this club has performed in its history.
  5. Forest away Dec 89. The away end was like standing in a wind tunnel with someone spraying water over you. Think we lost 2-0 and conceded in the first couple of minutes but the real battle was surviving the cold. Came down with something after this and took me a couple of weeks to get over it.
  6. Good striker and lethal from the penalty spot. Really liked BT and was sad to see him go TBH, had he stayed we probably would have stayed up in 04/5.
  7. I think this will be another draw with neither side having enough to grab the win. Projecting the form from the last 5 games to the next 10 the table would look like: Everton 48 Bournemouth 48 Watford 47 Brighton 47 Swansea 47 Huddersfield 42 Newcastle 41 West Ham 40 Saints 39 Stoke 38 Palace 31 West Brom 22 Looking at that table we cannot afford to lose this game. It's a toss of a coin this season, we'll be on the cusp of the relegation line but which side of that line will we end up on?
  8. Manager = Chris Nicholl Tiss Rod Wallace Dave Armstrong Steve Moran Let's have some entertainment.
  9. I'm actually hoping that plays to our advantage, quietly slip in, mug them and poop their party. They are favourites for me but will be fallible. We can do this.
  10. Semis suddenly looking good. Wigan is tricky whereas Citeh was no chance. That was a one off, we need to seize this opportunity.
  11. As long as the cupboard is somewhere near, like New Zealand for example.
  12. The good news is that because no one expects us to get anything the manager will play a really attacking line up, go out all guns blazing and at least provide some decent entertainment on the day.
  13. Wouldn't have changed any minds on the manager but a win's a win and we're still in the cup. Job done as far as I'm concerned.
  14. Wasn't it the players who were the main reason he got the boot? I don't think they would have been any different after so many dull goalless games. My stance would have been the same albeit grateful that we got the cup. A dull manager is a dull manager though.
  15. How any self respecting player can enjoy this guy is hard to believe, I don't think Lemina is in that camp but then he looks more like a winner. At best the players probably think he's a nice guy but not up to the job. No player should ever be happy about relegation ever.
  16. Bizarre mentality, everything seen through a fearful negative lens. Not sure how true this article is but judging what we see on the pitch I wouldn't be surprised. What manager doesn't like winning? Ours apparently. Surprised he has the courage to get out of bed in the morning.

    GAO OUT!!!

HMS SFC has lost its rudder and is drifting towards the lower leagues. The captain has locked himself up in his cabin and refuses to speak to anyone, the 1st+2nd officers are frozen in indecision, the leading rating just repeats the same incorrect orders and the crew is mutinous. We need a cultural revolution but chairman Gao doesn't look remotely interested. Derbies with the blue few in 1 to 2 seasons? Who would have thought that 2 years ago?
  18. He's a terrible manager, the worst Saints manager in my lifetime (40 years of support) but scarily he's probably the least of our problems as he can be removed pretty easily when the powers that be bother to actually manage things. No, the bigger issue is that the whole club seems to be rotting from the inside with no leadership whatsoever. The owner stays in China and doesn't seem to give a monkeys whilst the house burns - and he cannot be sacked. Confusion and despondency has seeped all the way down to the players and fans. It really looks like a sharp downwards trajectory just like the blue few down the road unless the owner gets a grip and starts managing. However the signs so far are not good atall. Kat has sold us down the river on this one. Shame as she did such a good job when she was incharge.
  19. Last week gave us a much needed bit of hope that maybe there was a bit of fight there to be deflated again after this. Never expected us to win but that was a capitulation. 1 up front till the 70th minute mark. The manager has learnt absolutely nothing this season. 2004/5 was a bit like this, performances that gave encouragement rapidly followed by capitulation. I'm crossing my fingers that we pull out of this and sack the manager in the summer. However I have serious doubts this owner will attempt to improve anything and we may be in the same situation this time next year.
  20. Just play the way we did against West Brom with attacking intent. We'll win some and lose some but I think it will be enough ultimately to steer us clear of relegation. That's got to be the main objective now.
  21. Thought he looked decent, got in good positions and made himself available which is exactly what we need. A good example mot mentioned on here was Stepehen's second goal, had that header not gone in Carillo was lurking around the far post and may have converted it. I think that unless he turns out to be a goal machine I'd rotate with Charlie to give Charlie's legs a rest. Charlie Austin is still our no 1 goalscorer - when fit. However if he turns out to be a goal machine then the position is his.
  22. Massive massive win, great performance and well deserved, we didn't fluke that. Just goes to show that we have the players if our idiot of a manager actually picks them and lets them play. It's incredible that we are where we are. I'm wondering if the players are pretty much ignoring the manager's gibberish instructions and just going for it?? Wouldn't blame them if they did. Lemina should be the first name on the sheet, a complete general and when he's in the team we instantly improve. Play him in every game from now on you dolt. Carillo didn't have too many chances but just by being a proper CF he provided a focal point and gave the West Brom defence something to worry about, give him the service and I suspect he'll get you some goals. Long on the other hand is stealing a forward place, he was given just about as gilded a chance as he's ever going to get and he missed it. To think he's been consistently picked above Charlie and Gabbi goes a long way to explaining why we are where we are. Play like this till the end of the season and we'll be clear of relegation but will the manager actually pick the best players??
  23. I've given him as many pelters as anyone else on here and I love the baking analogy but in his defence and for balance... He has handled himself well and with dignity whilst taking a mountain of abuse. He comes across as a nice guy and seems to get on with others at the club. He was employed by Reed - it's Reed's responsibility to remove him, not his. He has to go though. It's so far beyond a joke now it's become a farce. When he goes I'll wish him the best, it was a very bad fit but in all honesty it's Reed that has to take a good look at himself on this one. His intransigence has every chance of relegating us.
  24. Vinny Jones and Terry Hurlock as his assistants? That would be enough to get the player's attentions.
  25. Realised he was totally out of his depth in October and would have pulled the trigger in November. Had the club done the same and appointed a decent attacking manager I see no reason why we couldn't be 7th now. He has destroyed all our attacking instincts and crushed our self belief. The worry is that even if a new guy were to come in it would take time to get our mojo back and we are running out of time.
