  1. Turns out 39 points was enough but when Wigan were 2-1 up against a nothing to pay for Swansea it was looking a very different scenario. Swansea could have just folded but credit to them they kept on at it. Wigan aren't a bad team and we really weren't far off being in the merde until the draw at Sunderland. I thought once we'd got to 39 the odds were always in our favour but I understand those who felt differently.
  2. Benteke\Lukaku\Loic Remi
  3. Does that qualify us for Europe?
  4. Could we win the world cup too? It would look really nice in the cabinet along with the paint pot trophy.

    Come on Wigan!

Come on Wiggers, turn over the Arse and set up a grand finale. Got a soft spot for them, punching above their weight yet still sticking to decent footballing principles. If Villa were to go down maybe a bid for Benteke?
  6. That was total and utter gash - Shaw, Clyne, Punch and Boruc excepted. Sunderland could and should have been taken to the cleaners, they were seriously poor but we looked like we didn't give a toss. Looks like the players swallowed the hype and have just about spluttered over the line. We need some quality reinforcements in central defence, central midfield and up front otherwise we'll be scrapping around the bottom this time next year. Top half with this team is a dream. Still, job done barring some freak results but the players have made it a really unsatisfying, ugly end to the season.
  7. Just like the WBA game I'm questioning the mentality of our players, Sunderland are there for the taking but we are playing as if we are a safe midtable team with nothing to play for. We could definitely get the 3 points here if we started to show some urgency. Only Shaw and Clyne look like they can be bothered. Someone kick them up the arse.
  8. Don't worry, Arsenal will beat Wigan won't they...................? Let's just beat Sunderland and put this uncertainty to bed for good, it's been hanging around like a bad smell for too long now.
  9. At least 1 quality CH + a midfield general + a pacy winger and goal scoring CF. I also think that Ricky needs to be used more sparingly next season, he's not getting any younger and we need to start blooding in new players. Switch him more to an impact sub? GK is fine. Hopefully Forren will cut the mustard but who knows. New CH + Forren\Fonte. FBs are covered, Shaw and Clyne are quality and Cork\Fox are adequate backup. Midfield is pretty good but I'd like a real general in there barking orders, taking the captaincy and linking defence to attack. Need more pace up front to be able to accept through balls. Someone of the calibre of Loic Remy/Lukaku/Benteke + winger.
  10. The winner of the football grand national gets 3 points.
  11. Every player has their price and if Firenze make a good enough off he'll go. I'd be a bit gutted TBH, the boy deffo has a ring of class about him and next season could be his.
  12. Great result, looking bleak for Wiggers. Shame as I quite like them but anything other than a win at the Emirates will see us safe and that's all I care about. Feeling more positive than at any time since the WBA game. Come on Saints - nail this one at Sunderland.
  13. Wigan will nail it tonight, hope I'm wrong but they look to be on a roll. It's going to be an exciting end to the season alright. Come on Saints.
  14. Need Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea to do the business on Wigan, Newcastle, Sunderland, Villa and Stoke. A win for Spurs at Chelsea would be great. Come on you Cockneys.
  15. Hopefully if Chelsea beat Villa and Wigan lose at Arsenal we'd probably need 1 more point to survive. Norwich looking shaky but WBA is their get out of jail card. Norwich aren't great but WBA are on the beach. I'm also not counting out a draw at holiday bound City if Norwich absolutely need a point. Newcastle's get out of jail card is QPR - screw that up and they are in big trouble. Arsenal will do them if they need to. Sunderland's game against Stoke is a biggie. Fingers crossed Stoke do us a favour. However it could be a cursed blessing as they'd go into their game against us fighting for their lives knowing that Spurs(a) is likely to be 0 points. Big nail biter. Wigan are looking good to escape IMO. Said that WBA was a huge game for them and they won - tails are up and IMO they'll roll over Swansea now. The only fly in the ointment is the 5 games they have got in these last 2 weeks. Hope they rock up at Villa knackered. I'm currently leaning to Norwich\Newcastle for 3rd bottom but everything could change this time next week. We are skirting around the edge though. Still can't believe that pathetic\lazy\complacent performance we put in against WBA, a draw would probably have been enough. If we were to snatch relegation from the jaws of safety the WBA game will be the one I'll point to.
  16. Not a bad performance but unfortunately not an entirely unexpected result. Our situation is the same as last week, we need another win from 2 games. Sunderland(a) isn't going to be easy but we have to try and get the win. Oh, and could all those on here waffling on about us being safe just STFU please. Wait until it's (hopefully) mathematically certain.
  17. West Ham academy best XI vs Saints Academy best XI would be a very, very tasty game. They'd definitely have it over us in defence and midfield IMO but our attack would be awesome. Possible Saints XI from: Tiss, Shearer, Rod Wallace, Terry Paine, Steve Williams, Gareth Bale, Mick Channon, Wayne Bridge, Oxo, Walcott, Chivers, Shaw, Steve Mills Possible West Ham XI from: Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Rio, Frank Lampard, Trevor Brooking, Joe Cole, Carrick, Alan Devonshire, Glen Johnson, Jermain Defoe, Alvin Martin The amount of talent both clubs have produced is amazing, some of the greatest English\Welsh players of all time.
  18. There is on the tfl website although it looks like website is saying the trains are running OK now..... Link
  19. Looks like engineering works on the Liv St - Seven Sisters - WHL train line. Get off at Seven Sisters and catch the 318 bus up Seven Sisters road - 15 to 20 mins.
  20. Reckon it will be a good game and a useful point. 2-2
  21. Don't understand the complacency on here, if Wigan get a win at WBA and we lose at Spurs then they are 4 points behind us with a game in hand at another holiday club. At least one of Norwich and Villa will gain points putting more heat on us. The odds are that if we stay professional we'll get through but the complacency on here is unwarranted.
  22. Oops, just add the words 'Even if we lose our next 2 games' to the start of the 2nd last sentence (although I think we'll get a point at Sunderland and squeak through).
  23. Wigan to get 2 wins in their next 2, lose at Arsenal Villa draw at Norwich and lose to Chelsea Norwich beat West Brom Sunderland draw against us and Stoke Newcastle lose against West Ham and beat QPR Those around us going into last day.... Norwich 42 pts Newcastle 40 pts Sunderland 39 pts Villa 38 pts Wigan 38 pts That would see us safe as long as we keep our GD advantage over at least one of Wigan\Villa. Come on Saints, let's remove all doubt and get the points starting at Spuds.
  24. Wigan's next game is a biggie. Win at WBA and they will be well up to beat Swansea IMO. 38 points is quite possible in 2 games time. Let's just get another win in our 3 chances. We need to get rid of any complacency, get stuck in and put this one to bed ASAP.
  25. Quite a bit of arrogance breaking out into obnoxiousness going on here. You can quote me all the stats you want but the stats do not take into account human emotions and teams fighting for their lives. The arrogant dismissal of Wigan is pretty stupid, they aren't a bad team and they know how to get out of this situation. They will be turning up at a couple of holiday clubs in the next 2 weeks brimming with intent. WBA(a) is the pivotal game for me because if they win I can see them picking up 3 points against Swansea. I just hope WBA play against Wigan like they played against us as I'm Pretty sure that Wigan won't produce the kind of inept\complacent\lazy performance that we did on Saturday. Another big point is that they have 5 games in 2 weeks so you'd think that physical performance would drop towards the last 2 games. Villa will also be burning with determination and if they win tonight will have the wind in their sails and a very good chance of catching us going into that last game. Sunderland would overtake us if they beat us, they will be up for it esp if Villa beat them. Norwich have Villa and West Brom at home next, knowing that they need a couple more points I can see them fighting for at least a couple of draws which puts them above us. Newcastle are in the stickiest situation outside of Villa\Wigan but their saving grace may be the game at a dejected QPR with nothing to play for. They also have some decent talent that should still be able to get them out of it IMO. I'm not stressed about the situation and I think the odds are that we would probably survive on 39 points but it could well be a very squeaky bum scenario if we do. Of course the best way to instantly dispel all of this speculation is for Saints to go into their next 3 games fighting like Terriers. If they do then I'm pretty confident that we'd get at least 1 point and quite possibly 3 and all this talk will be instantly made null and void. 3 points at Spurs please.
