Why wouldn't he be a contender, look at the job he did at Palace compared to Silva at Hull. Lots on here would welcome Silva it would appear, why not Sam? Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

  5. When Wenger becomes available from Arsenal, I would take him and have a Puel / Wenger dream team. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  6. That was last season, why quote totally irrelevant figures - he wasn't manager last season. We finished 8th - if we perform like it again next season - we could do the same. Or do you think that all of those teams that finished behind us this season will all improve and we will be the only ones to regress. What do you think?

Irrelevant, we finished 8th, all of the teams belowe us would have suffered relegation before us. We finished 8th, the best of the rest. All of the teams below us were closer to relegation than we were. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

What do you call 'really bad' and where do you think any other manager is going to get us next season - where will we finish....??? Really bad from currently 8th is where....????
  9. What exactly were you right about? It's not about being right or wrong, its simply a matter of opinion. Does it annoy you that others differ from yours? Anyway... Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I understand that you really don't like the guy, but to try and eek every last bit of credit away from him is really quite churlish. We got to the final having not conceded a goal, we played really well in the final, probably better than United. Everybody wants to crucify him because of our league performances, but let's be clear, he deserves a lot of credit for the cup run. Have a little bit of class eh. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

In those two short sentences you've probably summed up the new managers problem. Can he get us to play more attractive football, very probably. Can he get us to finish higher than 8th...? I'd take a rain check on that one. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  12. I'd take him, did a good job at Everton and we are an Everton sized club aren't we? Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Exactly, perhaps if people did look at the bigger picture they wouldn't look solely at the manager. As for Claud's successor, you're right, he's going to need to be a miracle worker. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  14. If that is the case, then I don't think our new manager will be around very long either - we could very quickly become the new Watford.
  15. Well ok, if you want to be pedantic about it, include them - we came second in the best of the rest league. I only omitted them because most on here seem to think that they are the club to chase - they have finished in probably their expected position this year as well. After their takeover at the end of last season, them taking RK from us and their owner promising to invest large sums, I would have expected them to challenge the top clubs. So I included them in the top clubs - and I expect them to be in a similar position next season.
  16. You don't need to have been in the stadium to witness that - it is abundantly clear just by reading a few of the threads on here. I am not a ST holder and don't go to games so I'm probably not allowed to comment, but I really think people need to get some perspective - we were never going to keep our yearly improvement going. Last year we were helped massively by more than one of the big guns having awful seasons. This year we have been hampered by injuries and movement of major players, yet whether you like it or not, have still topped the best of the rest league. Granted it hasn't been pretty at times - I get that and fully understand peoples angst. But at the end of the day, once we sack Puel I fear the new man will soon be on a hiding to nothing because our fans expectations are much higher than the teams actual ability. On the other hand if the fans just want to see a better style of play, more goals and us finishing mid table - can't see that the new manager will have a problem. But that's not the vibe that I get from reading much of the posts here.

  21. It is. It is the responsibility of the 'Black Box' to have already checked out replacements for everybody in the club - a well known fact.
  22. Calm down mate. He was simply pointing out that Pardew got sacked after a 4 - 0 win. It's not really relevant who pulled the trigger, the point he was making was that irrespective of the result at the weekend CP is not safe. As for airbrushing NC out of our history - cant say that I've noticed that at all. I think that most fans recognize that he was pivotal in our initial rise through the leagues to where we are now - everybody is thankful of his contribution as far as I can make out. He got the bullet, as I understand it, because he was less than frugal with other peoples money. Cant argue with that. You obviously idolize the guy, and that's fair enough, but if he really was all that, wouldn't some other club have snapped his hand off and installed him at the helm. Just asking like, chill.

Have we really, what... conceded the most for the last 4 season, Jesus that's bad, real bad, I wonder why that is...? Go figure.

This is so true, and pretty much the crux of the matter which leads to a lot of this seasons discontent. We will sack CP, but I actually worry about the next guy - what will he have to achieve to keep his job? I understand that the club are ambitious but you really do have to look at where your ceiling is each season, not just in five years time or whatever. Where was our ceiling this year - probably around where we are if we are all truthful. CP has got us to the top of our league, got to a cup final and is likely to get the bullet. Will we be able to emulate that next season, I don't think it will be easy to get a better league position, and how often do we reach a cup final - once every 8 - 10 years? We may need to install a revolving managers door as part of the stadium face lift.
  25. In your opinion. You may be correct - either way next season will be very interesting. Realistically we are top of our league, without a whole lot of tangible investment, and keeping our best players, it will be difficult to emulate that next season. As for breaking into the top six - highly unlikely IMHO.
