I find it incredible (and more than a little distasteful) that, having just got out of a recession and with unemployment at an all time high, these people effectively want to hold their employer to ransom. Perhaps they should take a walk down to the local job centre one afternoon, check out the hoards of people clammering to find work and then reconsider their (priviledged) position. If you work in a public sector industry, you should think twice before alienating your clientelle - there is always choice - shun your customer base now and they will shun you in the future.

Strangley, (and as you should well know) BFBS! Me and my old gaffer used to have a bit of a competition to see who could win the most prizes - we used to target a sort of 'gadget show' - can't remember the name of it. He won about 5 or 6 decent prizes, including a PC and television set, I was less lucky in that I won a PC encyclopedia and a box set of some old tv series (name escapes me - but Joanna Lumley was in it, I think). However I also walked off with a guitar signed by Gordon Haskell - sweet. What do you mean Gordon who...?? Google it, bloody google it....!!!

Ummm, bad day huh.....???

Ahhhh right - so you're the one that believes that managers take jobs because of the 'size of the potential' and not 'the size of the paypacket'. We may be big hitters in this league, but I doubt that we are paying the going rate of the Prem League managers just yet. Probably easier to demonstrate the potential of a club already in the Prem League than one that needs, not one, but two, promotions just to get there.

7 teams in the Premier League failed to get 40 points this season - there will be plenty of vacancies for Mark to consider in the top flight next season. Why would he want to work two leagues down?

From the lack of comment, I take it that nothing much is happening at SMS and we are going out like a damp squib on the last day of the season in front of our own fans...?

SKy too...

Micky replied to Marsdinho's topic in The Lounge

I would have to say that not too many months ago I would have thought that this was utter bollux. I would have argued that all football fans are 'much of a muchness' no matter who they support, and all have their 'good, bad and ugly'. However, like you, having perused many of the PCF forums and comments sections of press releases, I now find myself rapidly concurring with you. There appears to be very little sensible debate from any of them, much of it appears to be juvenile ramblings, which is fine on certain forums, but you would expect the 'voice of reason' to appear somewhat more frequently than it actually does. Perhaps it is as you say, the more intelligent poster has 'given up and gone home', exasburated by the fact that they know they are going to either get shouted down by the masses of morons or labelled as a 'scummer' (superior race, should be taken as a compliment..!). So, I find my opinion much the same as yours - unless of course I've been looking in all the wrong places and somebody can point me to where all the 'real world' PFC fans post.

My company recently gave me a choice of where I would like to do a training course, either York or Germany. I plumped for Germany - the beer is better....!!!!

It's actually quite worrying, not the article, but the Pompey fans comments. OK, Stan is an easy target, he has history, and I guess he knows he is going to take some stick. But the amount of thier fans that still seem not to understand the concept of sustainable debt and non sustainable is astounding. They continue to quote Man Utd and Liverpool as teams who are much worse run than themselves and who have much bigger debt levels. But they still seem to have misunderstood the basics that these teams can (at present) sustain this debt level and meet their creditors payments. They fail to understand that thier own club have not done this, and have (hundreds) of creditors who have not and probably will not be paid, whilst they continued to compete. This as well from a club that was in administration, what, just over ten years ago. Either they have very short memories or they just don't understand the very basics of both business ethics, sporting achievements and fair play.

Zinc Oxide tape, talc, clean socks, boots back on and hit the road again, grit your teeth and work through the pain - any squaddie worth his salt will tell you much the same.
-
Yeah but even if you did that - you would have to sit through what, 4 to 5 hours, to see the 'interesting bit'. It's a bit like the European Song Competition - on for hours, nobody watches the songs (do they...?) - but everybody tunes in for the result.
-
Who knows - will shall see in the next few years as we rise through the leagues and 'invest' in the playing staff & facilities required to compete in those leagues. I care not at the moment where he stands in 'whatever' list, he appears to have the clubs best interest at heart and is running a professional operation - a little like all of his other business ventures. Whilst we all want him to continuously 'splash the cash', should he not be in a position to do so, he has a responsibility to not jepardise the clubs position or integrity. He saved us from possible oblivion, and is now steering us on a survival course. I have confidence in the guy irrespective of how many millions, billions or zillions that he has.
