  1. I have no understanding of any of it mate - I'm simply applying a common sence approach to the story. I don't know any of the facts. It just strikes me that 30,000 people left the ground safely and sensibly, a bit like I do every game I go to. And then there were the others - errr the ones who didn't make it, because the police ****ed it all up, caught up in the heat of the moment, somebody threw a coin and some poor guy had 30 grands worth of damage done to his business. Nobodies fault though - nobody shouldering any responsibility - it wasn't me guv - honest...! Nope - I simply cannot grasp the concept that you talk about - as I say, after nearly 40 years of going to matches, and being involved in some of the worst civilian riot situations during that time - I still don't get the concept that nobody was responsible. Please feel free - enlighten me.
  2. Stu, no I can't , I was referring to Sour Mashes comment below, which tbh I find somewhat bemusing. All of that said I really can't get too upset about these guys getting done. You above all must aprreciate the good old addage of 'if you cant do the time etc etc'. It is no different here. Let's be honest, as others have stated they could have just left SMS and gone on home - nobody forced them to get involved in this situation. As for the damage, it could be argued that it would not have happened if they had not congregated on what was somebodies private premises. Had it been my business I'd be pretty p issed off at them as well. Whether they did, or did not contribute to the damage, I'm not particularly bothered mate - they got themselves into that situation and they deserve what comes thier way. I agree the police could have handled the situation somewhat differently, however you take responsibility for yourself when you reach the age of consent - these were grown men making poor decissions at the end of the day.
  3. Errrr what...? I'm totally lost now. So 12 football fans got 13 years between them for 'throwing a coin' which caused k's of £'s worth of damage....! This I have to see - is it on youtube anywhere...???
  4. Crime and time, ryhme - it really is that simple...!
  5. That is exactly the reason, that under no circumstances, do I ever drive around my kitchen....!

    Memberships

I stand corrected Dav - thanks for the update. Still bizarre why we are whinging about it - don't like it, don't buy it.
  7. Thanks for that - so all in all a pretty volatile character then. Would be quite interesting if he was in the current French squad after the recent goings on...!

    Memberships

So in essence, this thread is speculation that NC might reintroduce a Membership Scheme. This unsubstantiated speculation is then embellished with more speculatory 'shots in the dark' as to what said Membership charges and terms & conditions might be. I take it that this Membership will also be compulsery too. You just gotta love the close season, dontcha...???
  9. Eric Cantona never played in a WC....??? 'uck me, I never knew that...! Why not?
  10. Emile Heskey, World Cup Winner..... enough said...????
  11. Riiighhhhtttt. So what we are saying here is that 60 odd years ago PFC had bigger crowds than us. Thats a really worrying 'trend'.....! FFS.
  12. Hate to say it but I totally agree with this. The premier league is very, very well marketed - hence it draws both millions on viewers and millions of pounds. That said, it breeds total arrogance and indifference to the 'real world'. Just look at Rooneys remarks the other day, yes he apologised (probably under orders from the FA), but it is indicative of how footballers actually see fans. We may have the 'best league in the world' - but it is that purely because of the money that it pays to the stars and good marketing. Unfortunately English football players, when compared to those in the rest of the world, are not very good. Count the number of foreign players that are playing in England, then count the number of English players that have been invited to play in any other league in the world. Why does nobody want English players in their country, league, squad or team? Perhaps it's time to face facts that we just aint really that good.
  13. No, Nickh continually maintained that you had got away with it, not that you would die...! Evidently, you feel quite smug about the situation, you are very welcome to your 'club'.
  14. Well Phil, you had a much more enjoyable and productive night than the rest of us did. Karaoke = wannabe pop stars, 'Rooney, Heskey, Lampard et el' = wannabe footballers. We're doooomed I tell ya.....
  15. Irrespective of opinion that is posted here (whether it be 'expert' or just purely specualtory), the fact remains that your club is, and has been for some time, a shambolic mess. You have ridden this wave on the good nature of those that were owed money. Local businesses and charities were ripped off in order that they club could enjoy some modicum of success. If you are comfortable with the fact that your club sees fit to rip off it's creditors to the point of going int administration for what, the second time in a decade, then you are a very worthy fan. Where will you be in 8, 9 or 10 years from now? Still cheating...?
  16. Errrr that is precisely the problem - if we can't mix it with these guys can you imagine the mullering we'd get from the form teams...!
  17. Well following the USA game it was good to see that Rooney backed up all his 'posturing' in the press about 'now is the time to deliver', 'the players are raring to go' etc, etc with a really world class performance. Aaahhhhh maybe not then. You would have thought by now that we would have learned to stay 'low profile' when it comes to major tournaments. I know that we English like to think that we are the best at everything, but the reality is we are pretty mediocre. Personally I'm soooo pleased that we played Algeria tonight - it could have been Brazil or Argentina, and that would have been embarrasing. I think the kindest thing now would be to go out with a wimper in the final game - it could actually turn out to be a blessing in disquise, let's face it, we really don't want this shower of shyte coming up against the 'big guns', we would get slaughtered.

    Old Fords

Strange that you should mention this - I have noticed this, not so much with Escorts, but certainly very prevalent with Mondeo's. The back bumper always seems to be damaged, - if you look at the shape of the bumper it looks sort of 1/2 oval, and Im wondering if a lot of them damage is caused simply by 'drag' as the car is driven. I see so many Mondeos with this sort of damage - I'm convinced that it's a design flaw. Anybody know any more ?
  19. I thought they played pretty well considering. Can't fault the work rate and effort at all, and to be fair, although it's not what fans come to see, their defending was damn good. If they had held out a little longer, and with a little more conviction, who knows what might have happened. That said though, Brazil probably had another gear yet - decent game though.
  20. Shame, I thought he was ok as a pundit too. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/World-Cup-2010-Robbie-Earle-Defends-Himself-After-Being-Sacked-By-ITV-Holland-v-Denmark-Tickets/Article/201006315649566?lpos=UK_News_News_Your_Way_Region_6&lid=NewsYourWay_ARTICLE_15649566_World_Cup_2010%3A_Robbie_Earle_Defends_Himself_After_Being_Sacked_By_ITV%3A_Holland_v_Denmark_Tickets
  21. Totally agree - the last forum was a 'signature' forum amongst all others, a bench mark for all other forums to aspire to. We appear to have just joined the faceless masses of, not only football forums, but any old forum. As others have pointed out as well, even the most basic function - text entry - is slow laborious and downright annoying. I for one am hoping that this forum goes the way of the first TB statue and we return to 'normality' before seasons start. Really appreciate all the work that the mods and admins have put into the site thus far, and have absolutely no problem with the subscription, but sorry - this is a (large) step backwards IMHO.
  22. Thought that this was quite interesting: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Army-Recruits-In-Australia-Earn-Nearly-Twice-As-Much-As-British-Army-Counterpart/Article/201006215648710?lpos=World_News_First_Home_Page_Feature_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15648710_Army_Recruits_In_Australia_Earn_Nearly_Twice_As_Much_As_British_Army_Counterpart Our guys have just had thier operational pay doubled, but in the grand scheme of things it is nothing but a pittance compared with what the Oz are paying their forces. Disgraceful.
  23. Can't disagree with anything that you say there. It would appear that the 'goalposts' were moved by some considerable degree in terms of the size of the banner, which is a little disappointing as this was raised while people were submitting ideas. Absolutely hate the font, you're right, I too have seen that German Porn Vid...! All of that said - I do actually like the concept of the banner - it's just the execution that I don't like.
  24. I no like, but I'm old and grumpy, can't stand change....
  25. Luckily, I am currently in Germany at the moment and have absolutely no idea what our commentator is bloody saying....!
