It's not quite as simple as that though is it? He may not wish to 'negotiate'. Irrespective of anything else, he is probably very happy with the contract he currently has. How do you know we can't afford to pay him 60k a week. If that's what we agreed, then we must have the means to pay it. We can't afford not to keep him if he needs help. If we abandon him now, where do you think it will ultimately end up? There will not be a queue of clubs waiting to take on the player given all the variables in play here.

I have exactly the same Faz, but sky is scalable to what i watch. The bbc should be even more so scalable. I should add that i can also phone up and negotiate my deal with sky. Have you ever tried to do that with the bbc? Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

No, being the Joe average for whom paying the bbc fee had become the norm, but who would really like, and deserves, more choice on whether he pays some, all or none. It was very easy for the bbc to just say, stuff it, we'll charge pensioners from here on, yet they are very coy about debating the licensing fee system. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

Frankly, the majority are overpaid talentless dross, totally out of touch with the man in the street. Time to do away with the licence fees and give choice back to the viewer / listener. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

I think you'll find that we probably do have a lot of people who are now just 'readers' as opposed to 'posters'. Board has gone backwards for some years now, which is a shame. A lot of good posters, the likes of VFTT, no longer bother to post, and he generally had good solid info around this time of year. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

Good player whose best years are undoubtedly in front of him, wish him all the best at villa where I think he'll do well. One of the new away days that I'm looking forward to this season. Good luck Matt. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

Agree, he can go from sublime to sub standard in a game. Personally I'd like to stick with him for another season, see if his injury record improves, let Ralph work with him and see if we can get him on the pitch more often. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

None. Time to take another break.

My thoughts exactly. I don't particularly like VAR but the assumption that it will favour big teams seems wide of the mark to me. Very easy for referees to get swayed by the big home team claims, the crowd, the big name manager on the sidelines - take the easy option. A man in a room miles away can be much more impartial - works for the smaller team as far as I can tell.

May be close to the truth, it's getting bloody comical now, refs completely lost it. Sent from my SM-T590 using Tapatalk

Referees getting confused as when to use var and when not. Situation tonight where the referee blows for a penalty to Australia, VAR team review it, send it back down to the ref to look at, where she decides (rightly) that her original decision was wrong. No penalty. But had she nor blown, where would that play have naturally ended, could've been a goal to Australia, who knows. But after all the confusion play restarted with a free kick to Denmark. I am not bothered what he did. Had he punched her in the nose and dragged her out by her feet I probably would be even less bothered.

It's getting ridiculous, micro analysm of decisions. Fairly soon there will be nothing to talk about after the game because it will have been played in laboratory conditions. A sad day when we loose the phrase "Never a pen in a million years..." it's coming.
