  1. I work in the criminal justice system. There is no definition of reasonable force. Nor does there need to be. Each case it judged invidually and on its own merits. The decision as to what is reasonable is up to a bench of magistrates, District Judge or jury. Let us not forget that the gentleman in this case has been found guilty of a serious offence (GBH?) and has acted outside of the law and that has been upheld by the court of appeal. The only problem in this case was the sentence NOT THE LAW. The sentence was inappropriate and excessive. I sympathise with any judge in this case as for me there is no appropriate sentence. Feel free to cave a burglars head in with a cricket bat when he is running down the road with your PS3 but what happened in this case was not reasonable force. You do not have the right to inflict excessive violence on a person. Its as simple as that. No matter what they have done to you. The law has not changed becuase of this change of sentence nor does it need to be. You have the right to defend yourself but if you tie up a burglar, torture him and stab him to death expect to end up inside.
  2. My best mate is a NCFC fan and I do keep an eye on what is going on at their club. Like most city fans he doesnt rate him! He's his response when I asked what he was like, but I knew what respomnse I would get. Ur welcome to him, he came with a lot of potential, always like to mention from the Liverpool youth team!!! He is got to be the quickest footballer around, he is lightning quick!!! But that's it really should have been a sprinter, he is a big fella but doesn't use his strength, gets pushed off the ball too easily and doesn't like to tackle which is a pre-requisite of a defender. Apart from that a bloody good player!!! Dont expect much.
  3. I work in London and was stopped under S.44 about 3 months ago at Baker street tube. Police officer was very polite and let me know my rights (work in criminal justice system anyway) but it was a totally pointless exercise. Police officer said to me 'I dont suspect you of being a terrorist as I can see you are on your way to work but we are given this power by the chief constable to stop people in this area under S.44' I said to him if you know i'm not a terrorist and have done nothing to arouse suspicion why are you stopping me. Answer... because we have been given the powers and are obliged to stop people. Not his fault but thats the problem the rules are they dont need a reason!! It serves no purpose and gets people's backs up. As the stats show it has achieved nothing. I have no problem with stop and search but s.44 is a total utter waste of time. It treats everyone as potential criminals.
  4. when did the booking fee come in? I always use to phone and never got charged it.

If you are doing it on powerpoint, make sure each line appears one at a time and not all at once. Keep the amount of words brief and to the point. Both these things will help to keep their attention. For each bullet point you have on the slide show have a couple of sentences prepared for each one so you dont end up just reading what's on the screen. They can do that themselves so there's no point in you being there then. Practice it in front of the mirror word for word as you want to say it on the day. A handout might be good at the end to giver them to summarise what you talked about.
  7. Milner will defo go. He's been awesome this season.
  8. who's saying his performance's have dropped? Some of the fans? Yeah the people who have never paid professional football! The guy is scoring bucket loads of goals what else is there to debate.
  9. done it a couple of times playing football. The second after coming back too soon. Went off after about 5 minutes. Rest is the best cure. It may feel fine but once you go flat out it may tell a different story. Difficult injury to get rid of!!
  10. winning breeds confidence. They'll all want to play.
  11. Didnt Franny say 'out on the p1ss' to the presenter when they were talking before the match. I was reading the paper at the time but I'm sure I heard that. They were both sat there thinking 'oh sh1t!'
  12. God that women was on every channel last night!! If someone wants to blow your son's brains out with a machine gun, no helicopters or a new pair of boots is gonna help him! It just shows a lack of class from her I think. To get a handwritten letter from the PM for me would be sufficent even if it has spelling mistakes.
  13. Didnt he score an own goal from Grimbsy at home in his first game? Seem to remember seeing that on tv somewhere.
  14. why do pikeys have to give their babies unusual names?
  15. Thats not the point he is making. 99% of people would not be able to return to their chosen profression yet footballers are. For joe public coming out of prison is where the real hard work starts - getting employment, they may have lost their house, relationship etc. For Marlon King, yeah 18 months in the slammer isn't nice (it shouldnt be) but once he is released he'll find a club to take him on, prob championsip, earn 8k a week, he'll still have a few mill in the bank, the cars, the house, (not sure about wife though!!). Yes he will have to put up with the crowds giving him stick and he'll have lost a few friends but give it 12 months and his life tyle will pretty much be the same. With Hughes, Robertson, McCormick , yeah they balls up big style and they are/have been punished. What puts MK on a different level is this is not the first time!! MK was in toruble with the law before he became a footballer. He is an entrenched offender - The other 3 are not.
  16. Nothing can beat the Nokia 3210 circa 1999/2000! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_3210 That was the first phone I had and kicked off the whole mobile thing IMO. Come on it had 'snake' on it. Many a uni lecture playing that on the back round
  17. ps Hate how they point an advert in the middle of the text you are reading!!!!!!
  18. The worst bit about the OS is the match preview. I already know what our last two results were and the line up's!! Generally speaking I know that about the opposition too!! At least with the old OS it would give a 'when they last met' section, a piece of trivia and a couple of paragraphs on the form and history of the opposition over the last few years. It would also have a couple of lines about the ground too if it were an away game. Totally pointless - tells me nothing I dont already know.
  19. Euell and Ormerod at Blackpool Hammil at Barnsley (thought only on loan with us)
  20. shed loads of sunderland and Newcastle players in there! Christoper Wreh ended up playing for my local non league team Buckingham Town last season.
  21. One of the worse things about being in L1 is not starting off in the 3rd round. That 1st sat in Jan is always a good weekend for football. Lets hope we can get there!! How times change.
  22. Beat Liverpool away in 97/98 season. David Hirst was on the score sheet. 3-2? 4-2 away at Chelsea new years day 2002 was the dogs though!!
  23. Bought golf club off ebay for about £90 and got charged £20 import tax. Tried to put it off but Fed Ex werent having any of it.
