  1. Everyone knows how bad BA are doing at the moment, but what are those who work for them suppose to do?Just let management do what they like? If your boss said to you Stu that your pay was getting cut by a large amount and you have to work twice as hard, would you go along with it,or try to do something about it?
  2. I think thats another can of worms to be opened at another time.
  3. For what its worth i think one of the things we should never cut is the armed forces. But to get back to the subject,i bet most of the high up people in management who make the decisions concerning BA walk away with golden handshakes, despite their lack of ability to save BA. Like i said earlier, how much is scare mongering and how much is real?
  4. Dune without unions you would not have things like a minium wage, workers rights(although these are dwindling fast) and things like guaranteed minium number of holidays. Cant ever believe any form of management giving these things away out of the goodness of their hearts.
  5. But why should they?A lot of people have put in years of service and have made a carreer from their jobs. When they appiled for a job at BA,they were given a list of terms and conditions which included working hours, pay, perks etc.Now BA want to completely change all of these. Now im all for management going to the unions and asking if they can come to an agreement concerning these, but its totally unfair to impose these changes regardless. Also dont forget that the BA workers all volunteered for a pay cut a couple of years ago to try and help the company through the ressession. This is how they are repayed.
  6. But thats exactly what management want everyone to think.Like a lot of people,i havent had a payrise for two years, yet the cost of living keeps getting higher. There has to be a point when the workers say enough is enough. After all, withdrawing your labour is the only bargaining tool you have.
  7. Surely if the BA management had done their jobs properly and tried to find a compromise, rather than try to suddenly change the workers pay and conditions, then the workers would not feel the need to strike? People only tend to strike as a last opion.
  8. Adverts for banks, especially that annoying one with the two idiots singing "Ice,ice baby".Stupid banks are the reason this country is in such a mess!!!
  9. BMW drivers who think the rules of the road dont apply to them.
  10. Blimey i also grew up in Netley and used to go to Hamble social club as well, though it was a few years before you were born mate. I went to the dell in the early 70s when my dad took me to see Leeds play Saints.I fell out of love with footy throughout the 80s and nineties because i found music to take up my time. But i started going again when we moved to SMS and found the passion again, though considering what Saints have been through over the last few years,i wish i had got back into football a lot later.
  11. Ha thats ironic because we import more steel than we make.
  12. The police will big this up as a bitter rivalry and then let us all out at the same time,so the plod on horses from Thames Valley can get some overtime as well. This so called rivalry thing with Bournemouth is laughable.
  13. I doubt it will say too much about us.It will all be about the Skates at Wembley.
  14. I thought we were mad to get rid of Pearson when we did,but if Pardew is forced to go,then theres no hope.
  15. Hope they stay down because its always a good game to go to and it would be so funny if they mess up their promotion chances yet again.
  16. But we celebrated that at Wembley. The club may get the players to parade the trophy after the game when they do their lap of honour, but none of that will happen if they think theres going to be a pitch invasion.
  17. Why? Whats the point? We are not getting promoted this season and we havent won the league. Wait till next season when hopefully we will have something to celebrate.
  18. Apparantly its a "Hoot,Hoot!"
  19. Goodpost Crab Lungs. Totally agree with every word and hopefully we will get our rewards next season with Saints going up as champions. More exciting times ahead.
  20. Thought it was a nice touch when a lot of us in the Northam clapped Carlisles first goal from a free kick. Fonte made a few errors incuding that reckless backpass, but the biggest question must be why the ref didnt at the very least book the Carlisle forward with the fuzzy hair who assaulted K.D?
  21. Most of the trouble after the game couldve been avoided if the police had the common sense to keep the Skates inside until we had all gone home. Also i think the police were very heavy handed towards Saints fans after the game. A special mention should go to the mounted police who seemed to take a great delight in pushing and shoving and threatening innocent fans who just wanted to go home. I saw a lot of cases of fans not involved in any trouble wanting to get away from St Marys by walking back into town, but were then stopped and threatened with force if they didnt go the opposite way. It was a total shambles from the start.
  22. I seem to remember that there were just as many fans invading the pitch from the Itchen and even the Kingsland corner,as there were from the Northam. By being so disrespectful to us fans in the Northam, you make yourself look a right t-w-a-t.
  23. Ha ha.I know what you mean. My wife and i were sat in our garden listening to the radio with a few bottles of wine and when we scored,we both started shouting "Come on you reds" and began dancing around waving our arms and acting like loons. I think our neighbours will be signing a petition soon to get us removed. Anyway we won today so who cares!!
  24. Thanks Smirking Saint for mentioning Kenwyn Jones.I had forgotten about him and the fact he went on strike.Definately adding him to my list. Funny isnt it that most of the players named on here were from the Burley era.
