I love the arbitrary numberwang that's going on. Bottom line is, we needed a striker, the club said we needed a striker, the pundits and interviewers said we needed a striker and Ralph said we are getting a striker. Then we didn't get a striker. So we are relying on two very average and inconsistent footballers to get us goals up front this season and a kid who often plays as a LW anyway. It's not a good look and anyone saying this is a 9/10 window is easily pleased. For balance I will say that our additions look fantastic, I love the midfield with Lavia in it and I like Aribo and Mara, I am actually so pleased we kept KWP and the defence has also improved immeasurably. Less fussed by AMN but I see the logic in it. However, if ever there was a kid destined to be a bit part player in promoted teams for the rest of his life after Saints, it's him. But we don't have a consistent striker. Simple as that. 7/10 Window.

Where did this one come from?
-
The nuance on this is under appreciated 🤣

I think the Striker/Winger requirement needs to be separated and that we actually need both. Given the propensity for Armstrong and Adams to be inconsistent at best we need a 10 goal a season striker. We also need that creativity in behind though I would argue that's less of an issue when you have Aribo and Mara providing that. However, given what appears to be very good pedigree with regards to Gakpo, I certainly wouldn't be complaining if he came in BUT alongside a striker, DCM and utility defender.

You'd take Solanke? Based on what, the 4 goals in over 60 appearances (25 starts) in the Prem? Honestly, I'd rather have Long back. He only managed 15 in the Championship the first year back. Not wanting to start any argument on here but I am genuinely shocked anyone would suggest Solanke.
-
Not that anyone gives a shit but this would be my preferred choice. Has a history of being consistent in an average team, in a good league, good physical attributes and, basically, none of the others fill me with much confidence. His assist record looks pretty good as well from what I can see just from the "numbers". Ramos is a no 10 - I'll take him if it's ion that position but not as a striker.
-
Ramos is not what we need. His goal scoring record is average at best and we already have 2 of those on our books. And for anyone saying he's got 1,000,000 in just 10 games this season, then please have a look at the opponents he scored them against.

Think we're getting our knickers in a twist over fairly spurious Tweet! "Exploring. Publicly stating not for sale" etc I don't think anyone at the club is mental enough to think we can manage a season with one recognised (and average) striker. Even if the alternative is to have two fairly average strikers.

How good did Ings look! Looked leaner than before the break. Good stuff.
-
This. People look at the points difference and say "oh it's possible for the other teams to make up 7+ pts etc", but that's not how form works. Sure, we are more than capable of becoming very **** again (I don't think out squad is top half prem at all) but then 2 to 3 other teams have to then put together Champions League form and that just doesn't happen.
-
Far too sensible. Behave yourself. The FA will introduce a tiddlywinks play-off combined with a shin kicking competition AFTER 10 replays have been had. Followed by Silver Goal.
-
Adams made a couple of good chances it seems and whilst I am still unconvinced by him, he's been good foil for Ings.... Sometimes. He's strong and quick, let's hope he gets one and then just flies. But his other contributions are often good... And sometimes **** (Pompey he was dreadful).
-
8 points and would take a hell of a turnaround in form from us (downwards) and those below us to turn that around. But what a result, looking forward to MOTD tonight.
-
I don't particularly rate him it has to be said but he's played the loan striker role very well today.
-
He's the best Shane Long impersonator we've ever had.
-
Every ****ing time. Redmond is, and always has been, a waste of space
-
I mean if you put really **** pegs, in round holes this is what you get. Ralph did such an excellent job last season, and whilst the players are totally to blame, he's not helping by putting CM as RBs, and RBs as Lbs. Have we played the same defence all season? Also drop JWP, Redmond and any number of 9 other players.
-
Ahem. I mean I didn't mean for Cedric but I'll take it
-
This. All this. I don't understand how a manager who got it so right last season is getting it so wrong this. Bin off JWP and Rebmond, both awful despite the love in on here. Get Boufal on, and **** Stephens off altogether. I mean, Yoshida is **** but he's a different level.
-
This. Chambers is laughable, Cork would be an improvement on JWP just but the others aren't better than what we have, as hard as that is to believe. EDIT: actually scrap that anything is an improvement on our CBs so yeah just about Stephens. Ugh that's damning.

Well, they're not are they and previously held the record for biggest tanking this year so... That said I am not overly optimistic either but we do need to beat both Newcastle and Watford and could do with beating Everton too. But if we keep picking the same bland defensive three in midfield, messing with defence) and not giving the creating elements in our team the chance to thrive we won't score enough goals let alone get enough points. Keeping them out should be something of a priority too.

Yeahhhhhh. Ummm this. WTAF?
