  1. So, how was the light show? Guido Carillo appointment.
  2. It also makes his comments about 'not playing like Barcelona' look even more stupid. He's hardly endeared himself to fans (unlike Ralph in his early days) and he's clearly as equipped to manage a Prem team as some expected.
  3. This 100%. Still we had a 8/10 window apparently...
  4. The Guido Carillo appointment.
  5. We'll need a miracle worker, so that's one plus.
  6. They have a bigger budget than us, that's where it starts and ends. So sure, I can forgive Saints for not getting Emery (Wolves just got Julen Lopetegui if we are looking for additional ammunition on the manager front) but that doesn't mean we should therefore be looking in the bargain basement for a man who's managerial career in the last few years is patchy at best. His achievements with Luton are very good, his performance at Stoke was dogshit. We can and should aim higher especially for a team who have at least enough money to splash out c.25million on a striker. As for Che, if your argument is he is a striker and has scored, well then yeah. My counter to that would be he costs us as many points as he actually gains. For a man that hasn't scored more than 10 goals in a league campaign more than once, and that is ANY league, it's hardly a great look. 19 goals in 3 seasons for us. Perfectly useful backup and second striker (for those teams that still actually play an actual 2nd striker) but not a premier league player you want leading your line and pinning your hopes on to keep us up. I suspect I said he was an adequate back-up who would become a decent player. Shall we dig my comments in Carillo out for balance? Also, 'ello chap, how are ya
  7. I could, but I won't. Some things are just blindingly obvious.
  8. This is the Carillo equivalent of a managerial signing. Cheap championship striker in Adams, didn't work. Cheap championship striker in Che, didn't work. Cheap championship manager, won't work. Villa got Emery. Laughable.
  9. Thought it was a fairly accurate review to be honest. Lacking in any real quality going forwards, lucky to get away with it with some decent defensive performances and very hard working. Thankfully Solanke is utter toilet.
  10. I take your point but he has to shoulder some of the blame even on that one. That Alaves league position was a bit of an anomaly with Real Madrid, Atletico and Barca basically loaning out all their youth players to Alaves for that one spectacular season. Sure, Pellegrino still had to coach them and by all accounts did an expected job, but even then a bit of due diligence and some patience may have shown the real face of a manager that has been sacked all the way back to Argentina. He was a very risky appointment in a time where we couldn't really afford it. It was compounded with the Carillo mess, which even the majority on here knew was fucking shite!
  11. He's absolutely dog shit and has been for years. Another one for those touting a good summer transfer window. There's a reason why every manager he's ever played under disagrees with his own assessment that he's a capable CM.
  12. Another vote for Leandre Griffit. I am still convinced he can make it!
  13. In January? Sure! This should have been done in the summer when you and everyone else was trumpeting what a great window it was and that we didn't need a striker. For the record, you still have striker way down on the list.
  14. Thank fuck we didn't waste money on a striker!
  15. We dOn'T nEEd a StRiKeR yOuRE jUsT a MiSerAbLe BaStArD 🤔
  16. I love the arbitrary numberwang that's going on. Bottom line is, we needed a striker, the club said we needed a striker, the pundits and interviewers said we needed a striker and Ralph said we are getting a striker. Then we didn't get a striker. So we are relying on two very average and inconsistent footballers to get us goals up front this season and a kid who often plays as a LW anyway. It's not a good look and anyone saying this is a 9/10 window is easily pleased. For balance I will say that our additions look fantastic, I love the midfield with Lavia in it and I like Aribo and Mara, I am actually so pleased we kept KWP and the defence has also improved immeasurably. Less fussed by AMN but I see the logic in it. However, if ever there was a kid destined to be a bit part player in promoted teams for the rest of his life after Saints, it's him. But we don't have a consistent striker. Simple as that. 7/10 Window.
  17. Where did this one come from?
  18. The nuance on this is under appreciated 🤣
  19. I think the Striker/Winger requirement needs to be separated and that we actually need both. Given the propensity for Armstrong and Adams to be inconsistent at best we need a 10 goal a season striker. We also need that creativity in behind though I would argue that's less of an issue when you have Aribo and Mara providing that. However, given what appears to be very good pedigree with regards to Gakpo, I certainly wouldn't be complaining if he came in BUT alongside a striker, DCM and utility defender.
  20. You'd take Solanke? Based on what, the 4 goals in over 60 appearances (25 starts) in the Prem? Honestly, I'd rather have Long back. He only managed 15 in the Championship the first year back. Not wanting to start any argument on here but I am genuinely shocked anyone would suggest Solanke.
  21. Not that anyone gives a shit but this would be my preferred choice. Has a history of being consistent in an average team, in a good league, good physical attributes and, basically, none of the others fill me with much confidence. His assist record looks pretty good as well from what I can see just from the "numbers". Ramos is a no 10 - I'll take him if it's ion that position but not as a striker.
  22. Ramos is not what we need. His goal scoring record is average at best and we already have 2 of those on our books. And for anyone saying he's got 1,000,000 in just 10 games this season, then please have a look at the opponents he scored them against.
  23. Splitter
  24. Think we're getting our knickers in a twist over fairly spurious Tweet! "Exploring. Publicly stating not for sale" etc I don't think anyone at the club is mental enough to think we can manage a season with one recognised (and average) striker. Even if the alternative is to have two fairly average strikers.
  25. How good did Ings look! Looked leaner than before the break. Good stuff.
