Dowie suggests on SSN that Ramirez could disrupt the Saints dressing room - by putting Lambert's nose out of joint as the new "top dog". That's about the only coverage SSN have given the coup of this transfer window. Woeful.

In fairness, I think he now concedes his prediction that we'd come 17th last season wasn't an absolute bullseye...

Well, that reflects badly on the league then. The longer the season goes on without teams knowing who gets a penalty and who doesn't, the more absurd the competition. E.g. Playing all 38 games in the Premiership and then deciding "Man City lose 1 point, Man Utd lose 0 points, Chelsea lose 5 points" would slightly take the shine off the competition. At this early stage - and with only Porstmouth in the frame - it doesn't much matter. But the longer it drags, the more it matters (when do fellow relegation candidates start to play for a draw rather than a win etc)

If that is the case - and I have no reason to doubt you - why not just apply the penalty right now?

I also think you're failing to grasp the price mechanism. I think Saints could probably get 50K+ to every league game if the price of entry was, say, 10p. But that isn't a great business model.
