  1. Lol. Any other advice?
  2. Obviously, the whited out dinosaur image is Les Reed.... (joke: I just whited that out to hide my Mum's name!)
  3. Hey, Hoping for some help here. My dear Mum got a lovely birthday card for her 70th, signed by some of the squad. But, who is who? Some are obvious, but I think we have only worked out about four of them! Any help greatly appreciated!
  4. I would be utterly amazed if we don't sign anyone I'd happily place a bet that we will sign at least 2 players. I agree though with those who think we aren't going to open the chequebook with a view to totally rebuilding the team.
  5. Love & light (if I have identified the right internet profile, you have so many).
  6. Dier and Henderson in centre midfield is so glaringly our weakest link for the World Cup. Not quite sure who i'd recommend instead though.
  7. What is this thing? Weird stuff. Who wins? Who cares?
  8. I'm just bemused about how much discussion women's football gets. I couldn't care less about it. No problem with women playing football, of course. But then I also have no problem with the Dog & Duck pub launching a league for men aged over 70. I'm just uninterested in watching it. I do get ****ed off if I hear a BBC radio report saying something like "Man City beat Arsenal 3-0 last night to reach their 4th Cup Final"..and then after a swift "wtf?", realising they are talking about the women's game. Don't mind if we have a women's team or not, but if we do it should be under the "Saints in the Community" banner, not considered part of our main activity.
  9. Seems a weird clause in his contract. Could one of the top six not just buy him and then immediately sell him on?
  10. Really pleased this has got over the line. Am probably not expecting 7th/8th next season, but I do think we will be about 10th and comfortable.
  11. Def want Real Madrid to win this.
  12. Seconded.
  13. Yep, my memory serves me well. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/6183398.stm
  14. I have a dim memory of us beating Birmingham City 4-3 in the Championship. I think Bradley Wright-Phillips came on and scored within about 45 seconds.
  15. Given the lack of depth in the back line might it not be worth re-signing Frazer Richardson as a "front sweeper"?
  16. I love the World Cup. I'm fairly indifferent about England but will cheer them on, I suppose. The great thing is 3 games on every day for a couple of weeks. I always take two weeks holiday somewhere warm for the first round of the World Cup, just to drink, watch the football and soak up some sun.
  17. Classic timing from the OP. Rumbled too by the looks.
  18. I put £1,000 on us going down at 10/1 on Betfair Exchange immediately after the 1-1 draw at home with Huddersfield, actually ended up with odds of about "10.5" (in Betfair lingo). Cashed out just over a third of my bet after the win v Bournemouth, making my stake back plus a bit less than £200. Once it got to the last two games, our odds of staying up were about the same as our odds of beating Swansea (7/5?) (which made sense as the one implied the other) I've just put £5 on us winning the Premier League next year at 1,000/1
  19. Austin's strike rate is pretty good. Injury is the issue. I'm pro-Long, but he isn't going to score a hatful in normal situations. I have no idea how we can improve on the present bunch without gambling on a £25m CF.....a gamble (like Carrillo) that might not pay off.....
  20. Hard to judge what makes players move. I sort of agree that if you're already on a few million a year then does it matter if you double your salary. But then again, when I first went to work I thought £30Kpa was the most I'd ever want or desire. And that is no longer true. Maybe for ultra-high earners (I'm not one!), it's the Billy Bean thing from Moneyball..."It's not the money, it's what the money says..."
  21. Always loved him. Keep him, please. His performance v Bournemouth was the equivalent of Beckham v Greece.
  22. Thought we played really well. A bit annoying to concede at the death, but am not sure it was an error, De Bruyne's ball was amazing.. To my mind, an inability to finish was the problem for us (again!). But we played really well today and the score didn't matter for once ( given it didn't get absurd on the 10 goal swing stuff)
  23. Not sure how much you can read into the lap of honour (I'm still scarred by Pahars' farewell)...but I fear Cedric and Tadic are off. I'd like to keep them both. I'd only get rid of deadwood (Boufal, Carillo) or those who want to move on for whatever reason (Gabbiadini, Bertrand, Cedric, Tadic, Yosh may be in the latter category, but hope not for any of them)
  24. Best analysis was on TalkSport the other day. (not often I say that) Easily Saints' worse manager ever - about as much use as a catflap on a submarine.
  25. It's just a bit unnerving, isn't it? Should be fine, obviously...I'm not expecting Stoke to deliberately lose 8-0 or 9-0. But I suppose a 5-0 win for Swansea and a 5-0 loss for us is just about plausible on the pessimistic extremes. The bookmakers make us about 100/1 to still be relegated.
