  1. Alpine, if I recall.
  2. I'm still pretty certain we won't sign anyone at all in this transfer window as others on here have rightly said.
  3. Renewed x 4. I'm afraid I'm a sitting duck for the club. If we'd been relegated and they'd doubled the price, I'd still have renewed. I'm that much of a mug/addict.
  4. Milan trip was great, beating Inter 2-1 at home was also pretty special
  5. I'd take Wilshere. Gamble, but not a bad one.
  6. Love watching the World Cup for its own sake (and have taken 2 weeks off work to do so). But also love speculating about (realistic) HCDAJFU prospects. I haven't seen any yet, I don't think!
  7. This is pretty ridiculous. You seem to be saying that we can't make any remotely fact-based judgements until there's a formal announcement on the official website, or something. Betting odds do indeed reflect the size and scale of bets rather than the truth - but you can place at least some trust in the wisdom of crowds. Something that is 1/5 is generally speaking much more likely to happen than something that is 100/1. Newspapers and websites get a huge number of transfer stories wrong and often rush to publish the thinnest of rumours. But they also get many more stories right than a random story generator would produce. If Saints get linked to a particular player in newspapers, websites and/or with the bookies, that is some reasonable evidence that the player could be coming to Southampton. Guaranteed? No. Overwhelming? Probably not. Compelling? Well, not usually. But reasonable grounds upon which to form on opinion in the absence of any inside intelligence or info? Certainly so.
  8. Lol. Any other advice?
  9. Obviously, the whited out dinosaur image is Les Reed.... (joke: I just whited that out to hide my Mum's name!)
  10. Hey, Hoping for some help here. My dear Mum got a lovely birthday card for her 70th, signed by some of the squad. But, who is who? Some are obvious, but I think we have only worked out about four of them! Any help greatly appreciated!
  11. I would be utterly amazed if we don't sign anyone I'd happily place a bet that we will sign at least 2 players. I agree though with those who think we aren't going to open the chequebook with a view to totally rebuilding the team.
  12. Love & light (if I have identified the right internet profile, you have so many).
  13. Dier and Henderson in centre midfield is so glaringly our weakest link for the World Cup. Not quite sure who i'd recommend instead though.
  14. What is this thing? Weird stuff. Who wins? Who cares?
  15. I'm just bemused about how much discussion women's football gets. I couldn't care less about it. No problem with women playing football, of course. But then I also have no problem with the Dog & Duck pub launching a league for men aged over 70. I'm just uninterested in watching it. I do get ****ed off if I hear a BBC radio report saying something like "Man City beat Arsenal 3-0 last night to reach their 4th Cup Final"..and then after a swift "wtf?", realising they are talking about the women's game. Don't mind if we have a women's team or not, but if we do it should be under the "Saints in the Community" banner, not considered part of our main activity.
  16. Seems a weird clause in his contract. Could one of the top six not just buy him and then immediately sell him on?
  17. Really pleased this has got over the line. Am probably not expecting 7th/8th next season, but I do think we will be about 10th and comfortable.
  18. Def want Real Madrid to win this.
  19. Seconded.
  20. Yep, my memory serves me well. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/6183398.stm
  21. I have a dim memory of us beating Birmingham City 4-3 in the Championship. I think Bradley Wright-Phillips came on and scored within about 45 seconds.
  22. Given the lack of depth in the back line might it not be worth re-signing Frazer Richardson as a "front sweeper"?
  23. I love the World Cup. I'm fairly indifferent about England but will cheer them on, I suppose. The great thing is 3 games on every day for a couple of weeks. I always take two weeks holiday somewhere warm for the first round of the World Cup, just to drink, watch the football and soak up some sun.
  24. Classic timing from the OP. Rumbled too by the looks.
  25. I put £1,000 on us going down at 10/1 on Betfair Exchange immediately after the 1-1 draw at home with Huddersfield, actually ended up with odds of about "10.5" (in Betfair lingo). Cashed out just over a third of my bet after the win v Bournemouth, making my stake back plus a bit less than £200. Once it got to the last two games, our odds of staying up were about the same as our odds of beating Swansea (7/5?) (which made sense as the one implied the other) I've just put £5 on us winning the Premier League next year at 1,000/1
