  1. heck, I'm a big fan of Boufal. I want him re-integrated, but drop redmond?!
  2. Glad to see this discussed. I utterly love our nickname, use it to generally describe us and think it has a certain cache, partly because it isn't just a derivative of our name. What I loathe is "So'ton" or "S'ton" being used as an abbreviation. One of the reasons our nickname works is that "Southampton" is too long a name for some headlines or graphics, but we should be trying to get the wider media to use Saints not apostrophes.
  3. I remember him scoring a great winning goal at St Mary’s when we beat Blackburn to win a youth trophy. Wish him every success, shame it never quite worked out as well as it might have done at Saints, but he has a good career ahead of him, I’d say
  4. I like him, but he's not really in my starting XI. That may be a problem if he's not in RH's either.
  5. God, what a vile pathetic cretin you are. You sad, pitiful little man.
  6. He may be a Poundland Fabrice Fernandes, but then Sadio Mane is a League One player. So, could work out for us....
  7. Yep, it is just a hunch. It seems to me - as a very early guess - that the teams coming up maybe look better equipped than those going down. Also, looking at the 17 staying up, I can’t really name any that I’m super-confident we will finish ahead of.
  8. Not next season. 8-10 probably. Obviously, 38 draws might be enough. But I doubt that next season, could be nearer 40 than 30 to stay up.
  9. Going to be tougher next year with the promoted teams. Had we won at home to Cardiff and Man Utd not collapsed on the final day, we could have stayed with 5 wins and 13 draws, or six wins and 10 draws. That's how terrible the bottom three were. Next season, on the face of it, there are no ultra-weak teams - expect maybe Sheff Utd? Could be a lot more to stay up next season, I'd take 15th/16th if offered right now, I think.

    wtf?
  11. In general, or just because our performance was 18 certificate sh1te?
  12. Glad I put £50 on West Ham when I saw the line up
  13. Hmmm. I'd have gone for 5-3-2, Ryan Bertrand looks fine as the left-sided centre back.
  14. Pretty ropey line up Forster, Mo and Armstrong all start. As does Lemina. Valery back.
  15. Nice. Might even try and go to the final.
  16. Is this first leg or one off? And if we win, who do we play next?
  17. Am just happy this isn't a "must win" game!
  18. Yeah, am not sure how MotD count that tbh? Two points lost and one gained, so a net of -1?
  19. Do you mean Scarborough or Stockport? I seem to remember us drawing away at Stockport, taking them back to the Dell, getting an early MLT goal and then contriving to lose 2-1. Dave Jones was their manager at the time and Paul Jones their goalkeeper, I think.
  20. Think MotD said we'd lost 27 points from winning positions this season (okay, that's just about conceding leads, not necessarily conceding goals late on, but surely part and parcel fo the same problem) How many points have we picked up this season from losing positions? The Spurs game at home comes to mind, but not a great deal else.
  21. Yep, I share this worry. We can't just get rid of much deadwood without making something of a loss on transfers and/or subsidising wages when they depart. On the upside, RH has done wonders with a slimmer squad, maybe we only need a couple of additions.
  22. I appreciate you struggle with maths and stats, rather like your mate Turkish. (Although you haven’t yet randomly added points to Cardiff’s 31 nor knocked off a Saints point either, to be fair) How many points do you think Cardiff will finish on this season? (Handy hint: they currently have 31, not 32) (Even handier hint: if you were to switch their win at St Mary’s to a loss, it would - ceteris parabus - be 28, but quite possibly lower if you put any store in momentum or “run of form” or whatever) (Still more handy hint: draws count for a point - so the total number of wins is not the only determinant of your points total) (Hint to save you having to use google: “ceteris parabus” means “all other things equal”)
  23. And you shall receive it. Obviously, the defeat at St Mary’s to Cardiff narrowed the gap. Looks to me like 28 points might otherwise prove to have been enough to stay up...ie 5 wins & 13 draws. We will see. Fortunately, it’s proven irrelevant- but the number of points per game you need to stay up each season is probably edging downwards.
