As it happens they are competing on neither front but will need the big squad for the Europa in a last desperate push for a CL spot. They are already making huge losses, with all these new players on big wages they could be in a spot of bother and have to deal with another period of mid table stagnation as funds become tight. Liverpool fans may very soon have to drastically adjust their expectations and if nothing else it promises to be hilarious to watch.
