  1. why would he stay though? He'll still have an eye on the Euros, although it's unlikely. Why do we expect him to stay? the only players who stay at one club forever are the likes of Mark Noble, as no one better actually want them. It's almost as ridiculous as saying Tino should stay because the medical staff looked after him so well so he 'owes us' I'm gutted he's gone, like most of us. It's mainly the young twitter brigade amongst us who cant handle it as they've only been following since 2010. I thought we would let Lavia go, and keep JWP. We just have to trust Wilcox has a plan in place. Give him his emotional farewell speech and free kick reel, then move on
  2. really worrying, a massive gap to fill with Lavia and JWP gone. Got to keep the faith that Wilcox has a decent replacement lined up.
  3. It looks good at the end, but would have been so disappointing to draw that. We know what the Martin playbook is all about, we will struggle for sure against teams sitting back if Armstrong was leading the line. Defensively we looked ok, although not really tested. And how good was Stu Armstrong when he came on? That was more like 3 years ago. Never had pace but always looking to drive forward. Created a couple of openings and a couple of shots. The way we saw out injury time was almost faultless. Positive signs, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Got to get to the end of the window first. There will be some frustrating games undoubtedly, but on that showing plenty of promise to show we currently have the tools to challenge for promotion this season.
  4. Can't see too many departures from our starting 11 from last night. The commentary team and pundits are suggesting we may lose half our team. Wilcox has already shown we won't just accept anything. I think we will be happy getting near £100m for Lavia/Tino/Salisu/DCC. Would be surprised if we let the likes of KWP, Tella and Adams go after last night's showing. Tall Paul and Sulemana will likely leave but they are both forgettable. A new striker and cb needed. We will have some problems though if JWP leaves late in the window.
  5. I actually forgot about it, as Che wheeled of he had that look that he had just seen a flag or something. No need any more for that hesitancy every time a goal goes in. Some decisions will go against us but so what, they still get them wrong even with VAR.
  6. We've been incapable of going on any run of form whatsoever, and there's nothing to suggest that will change. Think we may edge it 1-0 tomorrow, but it's fairly irrelevant and we won't be winning at Newcastle on sunday whilst others pick up points over the weekend. We will be going into the Forest game 7 points from safety and some people will still be exploring possibilities of what could happen 'if we just win our last 4 games'. Just give it up, we've been down for months and just been lucky to have some poor sides around us. There's been no point where we have looked like, or even come close to overtaking them in the table.
  7. Not an inspiring line up, but these are the guys Selles trusts, and he has options on the bench. On paper West Ham should win, but we know how their fans can get, there's more pressure on them. Lose and it's all over as we're not getting anything next week. A draw probably isn't enough, but a win would be absolutely huge. For me this is undoubtedly our biggest and most important game since Swansea away. These players need to understand that and play like their lives depend on it. It's difficult to see us winning, heart says 1-0 Saints, head says 3-0 West Ham.
  8. yes. Back in the day at the Dell we always seemed to have a fighting spirit, and always had a chance of a result against any team at home, despite regularly only winning 1 or 2 away games every season. Our current side has been poor for so long, and no team fears coming to St. Marys.Whilst there's been improvement under Selles, it would be a miracle if we can get 4/5 wins out of our remaining games. I'm almost certain we will just fall short though.
  9. can't be worrying too much about other teams' results. There's 8 involved so they can't all get beat every week. We need to get our own results. Lose tomorrow and it would appear to be game over.
  10. 'But it's still close, we've still got 11 games' We've had 27 games and scored 20 goals. This team does not and will not score enough goals to keep us in this league. It's game over now, we won't have enough to beat Spurs or West Ham, and I would expect a 6-7 point gap to have opened by then. And still people will cling on thinking we might just win 4 on the bounce. Sorry, it's not happening. I feel for Selles as he's given it a go, but it's all too late now.
  11. I don't know how we are still in this after being so poor for such a prolonged period. Still seems a tall order to survive, we are going to have to maintain the form we are in under Selles for the rest of the season. Obviously having Jones in is the disaster in all this, having said that if we'd have beaten Wolves he'd have been given more time. I think we will just fall short, unless we can scrape a few more 1-0 wins together.
  12. nervous for this one, with Leeds being just above us this is our biggest game in nearly 6 years. Tall Paul 1-0 Saints
  13. this is it. We've won 4 games in 22, even if Marsch improves us I just can't see how it will be to any level where we win nearly half of our games. So I'm not really buying the 'still 16 games, it's not over' argument. We've just had our 'winnable' run of fixtures and it's been a disaster. Are we now going to get a few wins and a couple of draws against top 8 teams?
  14. Whoever comes in will likely need to win half of their league games for us to stay up on 39 points.Whilst there is some promise in this squad, we've just had our run of 'winnable' games, it's not happening. Looks like Marsch is a done deal, but big pressure to get us out the Championship next season.
  15. If Ankersen is so into his stats, what does 6 defeats from 7 in the league look like to him? does that score well on the metrics? or is Lyanco's 2.83 aggressive stares per game more indicative of Jones' qualities?
  16. watch plenty of Bristol City as live there, Semenyo is the Ghanaian Che Adams. He is not the answer to our goalscoring issues
  17. just hanging in there. Newcastle are bigger, quicker and stronger; they look a proper team. Luckily their better opportunities have fallen to Willock.
  18. tough one to take, but if we can't get a result when we play like this, then there's no hope. Season over unfortunately.
  19. West Ham 2-0 down. Incredibly only have 2 more points than us, and have also scored 1 less goal. Highly unlikely, but if we won tomorrow and go above them, that could be the end for Moyes.
  20. only manage who's going to get results with a forward line as direvas ours is Sean Dyche
  21. all falling apart early.on. Clearly we won't be getting a striker in, and will still be left with Walcott and Redmond
  22. Gakpo deal off. Good start to the day. Hopefully we have someone lined up who's gone under the radar.
  23. what about signing a striker though,??
  24. does Ayoze Perez ever play/score against any other team other than us?
  25. hoping this is one where we slag off the starting line up enough and Ralph being clueless, that we might actually win. But another uninspiring line up
